I watched the complete conversation yesterday. I said it to Ian in his DMs, and I’ll say it here: this conversation is easily top 5 Janek Gwizdala Podcast episodes; your similarities are so very core to both of you, and your differences are so very complimentary. More than any other interview I can remember on this podcast, this feels like the musician’s version of actors on actors, and though it’s not often seen done, it’s also a brilliant analogue to a “directors on directors” conversation. Wonderfully done. I look forward to the possibility of you two doing something more in the future, as well as the three of you, including “Mr. Glove” himself. 🙌🔥

Imagine that, a Noble under $1000 that you don't have to wait 32 weeks to get lol. My Noble screamed "Imposter!!" when I plugged the stomp back in and has quit talking to me... lol. And dude... that one note jam was epic. So good...
I love Janek’s phrasing so much! @ 13:50 after 4 notes I could recognize his vocabulary and note choice. So fun listening to you guys geeking out about effects, and playing together
YES! Great observation, and he has clearly achieved what he set out to do, as explained in the full episode, of being recognisable after just 1 or 2 notes.
The HX stomp was always on my GAS list. Watched the brilliant vid and now a purple Stomp is on the way to me. Thanks to Ian too. You both are amazing tone wizards.
I also have a simple board comprising - boss OC5, 2 notes revolt (clean, dirt & drive), mini bass wah @ line 6 hx one (I use phaser, chorus, flanger or synth and when not using them I use the compressor or reverb).
Watched the whole interview today. Surch a great chat. As I enter my 40th year of being a gigging/touring bass player, I really wish there were bass centric podcasts around years ago. The Capo is incredible. I am supposed to send mine into get serviced for a small power issue, but I don't have another Preamp that can compare, so I am just dealing with it for now..lol. It's super versatile and the sound it puts out records perfectly.
Dang guys, some really beautiful music! Janek showing how it's done over one chord. Pick some out notes to spice it up, then when you come back to in notes its so good!
Love the versatility of the Stomp! I made the HX Stomp the centerpiece of my bass pedal board but it has failed during performances several times now. And I don't think I can point to any other causes because a simple restart of the Stomp solved it every time. Firmware is updated, blocks not maxed out, I'm just not sure I can count on it.

Hi, great video! Do you think a cab simulation is needed for the Capo before going to PA or it can handle the sound all alone? In this case how would you do? Sending a cab simulation via hx stomp to the post return of the Capo can be a solution? Many thanks!
Has either of you used a Source Audio C4 for synth and filters? I have one as the sole pedal on the FX loop, and always feel Im just on the tip of the iceberg with its possibilities, but it fills all the gaps left unsolved by the HX for me. Definitely a miss regarding low pass filters, and pitch tracking.
For someone just starting out I’m hoping the compressor is good enough in the stomp? That’s the only thing I need for now but I figured a stomp gives me a tuner and everything else for not much more money
It would be very interesting to go deeper on the need / relevance these days of having an amp - other than for practice purposes. I am finding more and more venues requiring going ampless or to connect to the venue’s amp. Seems like investing in a good preamp DI gives you more flexibility. 🤔 Loved the whole episode BTW! 🤩
I have a question as a person who has gear failure anxiety lol , if you just take the pedal board to a gig what is youre backup plan if it stops working ? As we know anything electrical is never fool proof .
I'm definitely confident in my ability as a player after all these years to be able to get through a gig without the pedals. But in 1000's of gigs involving pedals, I'm hard pushed to remember a time when the entire board failed. I don't think it's ever happened. Maybe a patch cable goes after too much wear and tear from traveling, or one of your pedals goes on the fritz. But I always carry spare cables, and could re patch my board mid song if I had to, so it's not the end of the world.
Same question here. Are you using any of the stomps amp/ cab sims in conjunction with the gain/ saturation of the capo? Or using only the "fixed-gain clean preamp" option + eq in case the stomp is enabling amp/ cab sims? Can the capo saturation be used to juice up the stomps amp/ cab sims or is that just not working out? Thx for the feedback. Love the video, love the info you guys are sharing!
I wanted to go for HX Stomp but its routing options are too limited. I want to have two outputs - one without cabsim for onstage amp, second for FOH, you could do it by stereo splitting audio paths and putting cabsim only on R but then i will loose paraller path for cool efects mixing. Im planning to go gt1000 core, which has more routing options suitable for my case.
@@darkstar4494 yeah but you need to split amp and cab blocks so it takes two blocks. FX send I think takes up additional block? And anyway I want to add external looper into FX loop
