Glad you mentioned the IPA spray on this vid I see you use it and mention it on the 10k front door vids you posted. I just ordered the same spray off Amazon and gonna give it a try as I do my own sealing too. Love the vids by the way from one carpenter to another you’ve got some skills mate. Love the attention to detail.
From Angus (almost 6): thank you for the video. I really love watching your woodwork. I like seeing the lasers and all of your tools. I really like the shelves.
Hello Angus, i feel i missed a comment of yours before but cannot find it! Hope you are well young man, I wonder if your dad could email your address i will see if i can organise a apprentice joiner starter package.
Exactly the way I do it, even for the scribe!! all the other joiners on the job say it’s a weird way 😂 they all use a bevel, the way we do it is by far more accurate
Cheers Ollie. Looking to put some shelves in an old house we have. The shelf sizing at the beginning very helpful. I am going to have to come up another front fixing method as no face frame but nothing a routered recessed 45 degree bracket couple not sort out 👍🏻
You can split the shelf in 2(thickness 2x9mm), and do battens down the sides. And just rebate the top and bottom ply over the batten then glue them together around it
this looks really well done , i was fooled by how simple it looked at the start :).... well explained Ollie , got some good tips, or more like ideas here , you make something not easy , look easy .
Reminds me of what I found from living in old houses with similar looking shelving in alcoves about how the original craftsmen did them, at least in the Victorian and Edwardian period - All the ones I’ve come across had both the back edge and the side ends buried into the plaster by about half and inch. Though I’m not sure if this was from them fitting the shelves before the walls were lime plastered, or channeling out the lime plaster to fit the shelves then making good after - My guess if the former so they didn’t have to allow for non square corners from sloppy plasterwork, as I bet the plasterers were just as bad back in the day! 🤣🤣🤣
Hi mate, its a laser liner one, but i think ther Huepar version looks better as you get a tripod too. shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1738078&u=3293508&m=108280&urllink=&afftrack=
Nice mate 👍🏻. For stain grade where you want as perfect as possible in ‘impossible’ or ‘closed ‘ spaces, strips of mdf. Say 75 mm ish and a hot glue gun ( I’ve got ryobi) You can easily and Perfectly scribe every side individually, hot glue it together, I usually add little braces 😂 then bobs you uncle! Perfect every time 👍🏻 Cheers bud
Only problem with sausage guns is when you open a tube you have to finish the whole tube, if you need to swap from grab adhesive to silicone makes it harder to save the un-used sealant
Great work Oliver. Couple of questions: What nails in nail gun did You use to go into plaster length galvanised? Great tips for this. And great work looks amazing.
The way you take the time to explain things is 👌👌👌
Some really clever ideas, Oliver. Thank you for taking the trouble to share. Enjoy the rest of your weekend 🌞

Great work as always Ollie! Great tips and how to ideas. Fabulous results.
That disappearing tv unit is good for when the tv licence people come 😂😂
Like this way of floating shelves. Top class work as usual mate. Thanks for sharing.

Ive been informed of collins stair gauges...... quite the insight, check them out too
I wish I'd seen this before making my floating alcove shelves. Would've saved me a headache! 😂😂
Unlucky Paul. Just thinking about doing mine
Interesting video. Are there any concerns about strength as the shelf is only supported by 4ishmm of wood at the top of the shelves.
Shouldn't be a problem at all. Plywood is very forgiving. Don't try using MDF, just not strong enough.

Nice to get your take on this.

Lovely job..not seen ipa cleaner before.
That's brilliant. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome tips in this video.
Do I think it if wanted a bookshelf a half lap joint is stronger.
over the batton? yes but just use a thicker shelf. half lap will show underneath. 10mm of timber lodged ontop would hold a hella lot.
Great video !!! thanks Oliver
Lovely stuff 👍
I use a lot of pocket screws! I don’t understand why some people poo-poo them?
i think its when they are used to replace proper joints
Great video as always! What do you think of the 18ga Ryobi nailer?
Great stuff!
Nice one Ollie 👍🏼
Thanks mate
Another great video Oli, thanks for sharing.
What pole is it you use that you have your laser mounted on?
Great idea 👍

Awesome as ever, do the Ryobi air strike take Dewalt batteries or have you got a conversion?
It's a badaptor 👍 I went for Ryobi as they fitted in the toolbox and had goodish reviews

23g and i always use stainless for everything. These were 30mm Stainless 23g. They just give enough of a hold for the glue to get it.
@@BradshawJoinery Have you ever used a 21Ga finish nailer Oliver? There's a Senco on eBay I have had my eye on for a while, pricey though! 💪🔨🇮🇪
So the apprentice is on the food and cleaning duties ,what's her tea making like ?.
Superb. Master at making macarons 😃🤤
Lovely job as usual, but, TV i don't think so, Apple mac maybe, who would want a TV so small these days.😂😂😂 👍
Really good Job, Just hope the Hired help cleaned up after you lol
Cheers. Did you test fit of each shelf, after cutting to size, before applying glue?
Yes, mark out, cut, test fit and check/adjust, then groove, check fit, then glue.
Did you pva the new plaster before?
I very much doubt it PVA on plaster makes it a nightmare to paint....
Hi
You did a video on laser levels I think. But I can’t for the life of me find it. Do you have a ref?
not really i did the lase measuring video of the wardrobe
Can you tell me if the 3 drawer case is same height as 2 drawer 👍🏻
externally yeah
Noice. Hey Cripps!
What ply did yoy use mate?
Cheapo beech faced chinese stuff, wouldnt reccomend, costs more to get a nice finish than just using birch!
@@BradshawJoinery thanks
I assume the alcove walls are going to be painted the same colour as the shelves because it's going to be a bugger if they not lol 😅
What model is the huepar laser?

Cheers.
