Nice video! I'm looking for a tonneau for my 2021 RL. Do you have a review on this Honda? Can it carry any load on top? Or will it support a person standing on it? Have been looking at the more expensive Diamondbacks, which support either 400(SE) lbs or 1600 lbs(HD), but this one seems easier to install and remove. And less expensive.

Hi, thank for the great video. I purchased a new Ridgeline. It did not come with a Tonneau cover. I’m considering purchasing a factory oem cover from someone else who just bought a Ridgeline 2 months ago and doesn’t want the cover. What do I need to remove the factory mounting plates/bolts and re-install on my new truck ? Thank you !
I see you kept the top tiedowns at the tailgate. I don't understand why the instructions say to remove them. Did you get longer torx bolts or just reuse the originals?
@@CampingRandy Thanks for taking the time to respond. That is not what I was trying to ask, but helpful. I’ll try to ask in a different way. If the tonneau is folded up, in the open position, what is the distance from the tonneau to the tailgate. I’m trying to figure out if I can put a mountain bike on a tailgate pad without removing the tonneau from the vehicle. Thanks.
I no longer have a bedcover but it’s in thirds. Take the length and divide by three. That will give you the part of the bed still covered by the bed cover. Let me know if you have additional questions. Glad to help!
QUESTION : I am purchasing a new 2022 RTL-E with the OEM hard folding tonneau. Would 4 Ridgeline tires fit in the bed and you could still completely close that tonneau ?
Yes - if you install the locking tailgate Honda accessory we sell on the Ridgeline Store. If you have a 2020 or 2021, you have a factory tailgate lock!
I have the 2019 Ridgeline. I want to get the OEM cover but I also want to get the Ridgeline tent. If I get the Backflip cover instead, do you think I could set up the tent without removing cover since it folds up against the rear window?
I’ve heard both. Mine never had the issue. I would loosen the front clamps. Make sure the front stops are flush and refasten. It maybe too tight up front collapsing the seal. Let me know.
I have a few questions regarding these tonneau covers. 1. Will water collect and create rust under your side composite bed pieces (that you removed)? 2. My tonneau leaks water in the back by the rear windshield. Is it possible the flap on the rear isn’t in the correct place? Should it be tucked in or let out?
1. No - it’s all painted. 2. Just make sure you have it slid all the way towards the cab, and hand tighten the front clamps - good and snug. You can also crawl in there (use a friend) close everything up and look for light leaks.

I say that after purchasing the OEM Tonneau Cover for my 2022 Ridgeline and having a difficult time installing it myself. The issue is apparent when I look at your video from about the 3:12 - 3:35 section. You have placed the brackets coming down from the cover BEHIND the front brackets that are mounted to the bed. The installation sheet for the product shows the brackets coming down from the cover to be installed BETWEEN the front of the bracket which is mounted to the pickup bed and the front, inside edge of the pickup bed. In other words, the cover should be mounted approximately 1/2 inch more toward the front of the vehicle, at least that's the way it appears to me. However, I am unable to get mine to go into that slim space due to there is a rubber cap on the end of the bracket that is too fat and prevents the cover from seating all the way down. When I try to pry off the rubber cap it appears to be glued in place so I am not sure if the rubber cap should remain in place or if it was just put there for protection during shipment. As it is a Saturday I drank a few cool ones while pondering my dilemma and decided to postpone the installation until early next week after hopefully getting tech support clarification from Honda. There are rubber caps on the pieces that secure the sides at the front as well and I am not clear on whether they need to be removed or not as they pry right off. What appeared to be an easy installation that should take maybe 20 minutes tops has turned into a puzzle for me. Maybe I'm overthinking it but I have a new truck and I want to be confident I've installed it correctly. I imagine I could force the brackets into place with the rubber covers still on but then it would be more difficult to remove the cover it I ever wanted to remove it completely.
