Something tells me you didn't have a person sit on the panels when you adjusted the locks as the instructions said to do...there's your waterproofing

This guy might’ve installed his cover like Jeep builds their vehicles.

Bro you need to put weight on the top before adjusting the locking bar! Have someone sit on top or something. Sits level if you do it right.

This is exactly the reason why the two opening parts are not level , my guess is that this is also the reason why it leaks.
The gaskets around the openings are not fully compressed against the bed. It’s an installation error but it’s easy to fix as the previous poster mentioned. Just get it pushed down by someone with weight sitting on it and adjust the locking bar to tightly pull the lid down when you close the lid.
I have a DiamondBack cover and it’s level and 100% rainproof. I used four 50-pound bags of salt to keep it down when tightening. Also if the lock bar at first time is not tight when you installed it then the gaskets themselves might not have been properly adhered to the bed when you glued the rubber band around the bed. I still think just adjusting the lock bar will solve most of your issues.

I placed 100lbs of weight let it sit over night then adjusted the locking bar front and rear in the morning and have seen traces of moisture only a few times in two years. I live in the rain saturated state of Washington and have been happy with my hd Diamondback cover it is very secure. It isn't perfect as I agree with the access issues in the front section.....

Did you add the shims under the bed rail covers? Thats helped substantially with the leaks for me.

After you've resolved the leveling issue, thus most of the leakage issue, then lose those yellow lids on your plastic bins for the best access. I'm getting my 2024 GMC Canyon soon followed by my own Diamondback cover and I believe I'll be fabricating my own storage bin (similar to the one they sell). Outside of that a number of your issues seem to stem from a simple lack of trouble shooting up front. Best of luck with your projects.

Thanks for sharing your honest perspective on this thing. It sounds like it might be right for some while not right for others. All great points.

These covers are super hyped on TH-cam and other social media, and perhaps they work for those applications. I went with the switchback from DB for better access to the bed, and quicker removal. My truck is lifted and I'm not a tall dude, so the front access of the HD was a no go for the reasons you just described. My cover comes next week, and I'm already thinking I should have gotten a topper instead, but that comes with its own set of considerations. It looks like the seals on your cover were not compressed enough during install and that's why it dips in the middle. Good luck on your next cover!

Nice vid. I have one on my Tacoma. No leaks on mine and I have zero plans for roof top tent. I did use silicone to seal small gaps located near bottom of tailgate.

I love this comment.... I knew I wouldn't be able to open it... duh! I said I didn't think it would be as big of a deal to climb up into the back and dig stuff out but it was so there is the reason I don't like it!

you could attach straps to the totes so you could just pull them out when you need them instead of having to crawl under the cover. another idea. in my work truck i cut a sheet of plywood to fit between the wheel wells and cut it back as far as i could reach, put a handle on it then it just slides out.

The other major difference between the HD version and the other version is the thickness in material they use as well as the extra aluminum studs.

I see your point on how the front and rear lids taper towards the center. A perfect rain catch. Easy to see why it leaks. Good video very informative. Nice looking Gladiator.

There's a gutter that sends that rain right off the truck. The seals are better quality than the ones on my Tacomas door. My HD has never leaked. The cover in the video wasn't installed properly

Diamondback makes a drawer insert for the cab end. And, yes, with a tent on the diamondback you cant open it. The nature of a "rooftop" tent. Not the covers fault. Sounds like you needed a different set up.

I could never use a bed cover like that. I use my bed to haul things, I had a Tiller in it last week. A couple weeks ago I had 30 bags of mulch in it. I have a Bakflip trifold. it is light weight, water tight, still secure, but easily flipped up to allow the entire bed to be used when needed. No tools required.

Bro most all of your "minor inconveniences" you speak of could have easily been considered before buying it. I mean base the function off your set up prior. I get it isn't for everyone. But also I could bet anything your install game was off. The leveling concern and waterproofing concern could most likely be rectified with proper install and adding weight to the top prior to adjusting your locking system.
My Diamondback is the best addition to my truck.

Appreciate that feedback, I had it installed at a jeep shop since I was out of the country when I purchased it! It's an awesome bed cover, just not the one I needed for my specific needs!

Watched this review... not sure.. think the purpose is to get a financial credit or some kind of refund from the manufacture. I have a Model 270. I am very pleased with my purchase. Superior quality, compared to the competition. My question to the reviewer, can he find a better unit . Sincerely doubt it His complaints are nothing short of nit picking. I would not give this whinner any time, looks like a weasel move, in my opinion.
