Joker didn't outsmart Mxy at his best, Mxy was a fool who underestimated Joker while putting his stats at his level. We see him do with with everyone as he plays with them -- yes sometimes he has total control of the situation, but other times he is genuinely taken back by others' actions, showing how he really put himself at their level. The very word Mxy said that granted Joker his power would have never been said if his mind was processing everything at immeasurable speed, bc he said that at human speed. This shows Joker "being smart," not "smart at Mxy's level."

Batman with prep time is just as strong as Iron Man and Dr. Doom with prep time. Intelligence isn't a skill it's a necessity when dealing with godlike beings like Hulk and Superman. People call it plot armor because they refuse to believe that a superpowered character can be defeated by a "normal" human being. Also people cry about Batman beating Superman but Superman's greatest enemy is Lex Luthor. In my opinion the prep time argument is blown way out of proportion. Most people who use the plot armor or prep time argument have never read a comic. Batman rarely fights Superman or the Justice League. In fact it's the opposite they are his greatest allies. When they do fight it's because a writer is lazy.

Realistically joker would be grounds for people to push for the death penalty in gotham then likely be executed and bruce wayne would be in jail and fined. Batman is weird he can beat justice league and build suits to fight gods and will but won’t create prisons to hold villains in Gotham instead decides to let them kill people. It’s hard to like a character who can do everything to save people, but doesn’t at all.
I consider that moreso a pitfall of the comic book industry than Batman.
Because Batman isn’t allowed to ever end, all the stuff in Gotham has to keep going on despite the fact that it makes no sense why it still is when Batman is packing up Outerversal++++ enemies with the Justice League.

Batman is personally involved in the Arkham security systems and he cannot even escape himself. The issue is not one of funding or bad systems or anything, it’s an issue of corruption. Gotham is corrupt, top to bottom; people aren’t escaping Arkham they’re being let out by the guards. The issues with Gotham can’t be solved, it’s literally magically cursed.

@@kiwavy There are beings infinitely more powerful than say Metron. Beings which cannot even be truly physically interacted with. Gotham is cursed by Barbatos, Arkham is a "deadzone" and had a literal portal to hell opened, it's cursed by Dr. Gotham, there's Lazarus pits, etc etc etc. It's hundreds of years worth of issues and corruption, some of which are explicitly supernatural and not beholden to logic or science. In other words, it's not something that Batman can just 'fix' or 'prevent'.

Batman probably the most wanked and jacked off character in fiction by his own writers. He will "outsmart" omniscient beings and outscale multiversal entities with the very barebone tactics that the authors percieve as "impressive". Either it's the authors being unable to genuinely write or show intelligence, or they're not as smart as they are told to be.
He is the most popular iteration of the "Impossible White Man" and it's 99% of the reason why he wins in his battles, it's for narrative.
