- You ever think about what would happen if fans had total control over a Super Smash Bros. game? Well, thanks to mods and ROM hacks, we have an answer to that question! Primarily focusing on Smash 64, Melee, and Brawl, my findings were wild, to say the least.

@@gamergaymer965 not true actually, it turns out PM died because tournament organizers had made an agreement with nintendo that if they stoped hosting tourneys with PM, Nintendo would allow Smash Bros tourneys, the orginizers held up their part of the bargin, but not Nintendo, and because PM was a mod that was better than Brawl, Nintendo threw a tantrum, and "sUpOsEdlY", DMCA'd the team working on PM. i say "sUpOsEdlY", because its not hard to connect the dots between the orginizers cancelation of tourneys with PM, and PM's development ending.

Project M, Project +, and Smash Remix are legitimately some of the coolest mods and fanworks I think I've ever seen on the internet, and it's REALLY unfortunate that Nintendo basically murders anybody who modifies their games at all
....but who CARES about those mods, clearly the best mod is the one at 19:09 where Steve's meat is put back in the game

Yeah, other companies support mods, or even hire modders to work on official projects (Sega hiring rom hackers for Sonic Mania, Dota, Counterstrike, etc).

Project M is really fun casually too, and each character was redesigned and each one has minor additions or easter eggs that make then a blast and everyone is really well balanced too, moreso than ultimate.
Can't wait for Nintendo to shut down a Fire Emblem themed convention!

Oh yes, Project M is indeed a blast. It made me pick up Link as a main because he was very good in that mod. Also, I love the alternate costumes Project M had to offer, particularly the Melee versions of Link, Zelda/Sheik, Ganondorf, Fox, and Falco as well as Shadow Queen Peach, which I wish was an actual costume.
@@smashmaster521 You should see the costumes they added in Project+ then. They're so good and to top it all off if you hold R or Z while selecting a character, you get 2 additional costumes

If the Internet preserves all these projects for people to play, shouldn't matter too much, I think. Nintendo waited for AM2R to be finished and preserved before DMCA-ing, everyone who wants to can still play it. The "deleting", if it happens, can work like that again.

It's a bit unfortunate that the brightness levels for analog consoles are calibrated a little darker than they should in the video.
I'm actually a big fan of the goofy overly anti aliased N64 visuals, but man, when you got deblur going on, even S-Video looks amazingly sharp.
Or just play on a CRT and modding for better video quality won't be nearly as necessary. It's not even about the input lag, but just how those things treat low res images. Anything that can't do at least 480p I feel looks best on those.

speaking of Project M, there is another mod entitled PMEX Remix which is an enhancement to Project M itself. it adds Smash 4, and Ultimate veterans, more stages and costumes, and a decent amount of newcomers. i highly recommend giving it a try, it's pretty good. it does take like 17gb of storage though

Legacy xp is a good middle ground between project plus and brawl minus. it has knuckles, lynn, pichu and waluigi, but feels VERY polished.

I don't know if you saw it, but there was a new mod for Melee called the Akaneia Build which adds a Volleyball mode, a new alternate costume for every character and a new character : Wolf.

Can we just talk about how that one brawl hack with the massive roster (think it was Brawl- I already forgot) included so many characters that got added in future games like-
Cloud, Sephiroth, Ridley, Dark Samus, Ryu, Shulk, Bayonetta, Mega Man, Villager, possibly more that I missed- what the fu-
There's a lotta Project M modpacks like that. Project M Remix, Cobalt Legacy and Legacy XP come to mind.

Excellent video! I've actually messed with some of those brawl mods. I'm gonna make one mod suggestion though: project ganondorf, it basically makes 2 very fun versions of ganondorf based off of his moves from twilight princess and ocarina of time, it's a mod for project m and Is very fun!

Also how would any of you feel if Nintendo bought out the characters from Super Mario RPG that for some reason Square owns and they started pushing Geno and Mallow as part of the core Mario cast.

I wouldnt care for Geno. Hes a total meme to the community. Geno wouldnt be fun or worth it, just like Waluigi.
I would be shocked, because I was under the impression that Nintendo wanted to stick to the established cast of characters instead of introducing new ones or even some of the old ones, but it would certainly be a welcome surprise for Super Mario RPG to be back in the spotlight

You kinda overlooked something when talking about Project +, Project + was built off of a Legacy TE a Tournament Focused PM Build which is where some of the features in Project + like it's use of ASL (Alternate Stage Loader) and 15 costumes per character comes from

When he went over Project M, I was honestly really hoping to see Legacy XP and PMEX Remix.
Yeah me too, but maybe they aren't really his cup of tea, after he went into SSB Infinite. Legacy XP is basically Infinite Lite. Maybe in the future. He always makes more of what people watch and like!
