I would not mind to see the Tsunami again (and maybe the Serpens too) They were so much fun to use. Preferably the Tsunami returning as an SMG like it always has been.
Storm is mad powerful with Gaige. For some reason the shock DoT on the Storm is boosted by damage buffs(unlike ANY other weapon in the game...). Those are then multiplied by slag for even nicer damage, but then, the clincher, electrical burn adds a burn effect with the same exact damage THAT GETS MULTIPLIED BY SLAG AGAIN. So you get nine times the damage from that dot burn. And of course, DOTs aren't reduced by Close Enough, so you can never even miss. Pretty crazy.
Especially with a catalyst com aswell. In general it's not that good tho sadly. No character can really make it work besides Gaige, especially in OP levels

I have so many hours in BL2 (probably close to 1000 across console generations and pc) and have never once seen a pearl. Gearbox needs to do what they did with legendaries in 3.
Could not disagree more. In all of your time playing bl2 have you ever try'd to farm pearls? Try killing loot midgets or Uranus Cassius from the Fight for Sancuary DLC they all drop pearls like crazy. I'd be able to see what you mean by that if only referring to gen 2 pearls since they are super rare from tubbies but even so, making pearls more commen then whites would ruin the balencing of the game
I got the Omega shield off Crawmerax and it's a game changer. Only pearl shield I've ever seen him drop. Probably killed him nearly 1000 times over the years.
what i would probably do to make pearls more valuable is that When you find them they are as weak as common weapon but can be level up by using them to kill ennemies making their damage stat match legendary weapons while having the drop rates being between epic and legendary
I personally don't really like that idea. I feel that if your lucky enough to get a pearl to drop, that should just be it. I don't want to force the player to do extra work that isn't needed. I don't want to take away from the feeling when a pearl does drop, y'know
I think this'll give me the motivation to continue my farming for more Borderlands 1 pearlescents! Also, a very entertaining video you have here. I play Borderlands 1 and 2 just to farm pearlescents as it's kinda fun in a way.
Pearl world drops in bl2 are the only time for me that they REALLY feel like they did in bl1. Getting a world drop pearl, even if they aren't that good, is still exiting because of how rare a pearl world drop is!
Borderlands 3 had converted some of the pearls into legendary weapons, and in Borderlands some weapons that were OP in BL2 were nerfed abit so other legends can get more attention. Technically they were kinda in the pre sequel, just called Glitch weapons instead.
Glitch weapons are their own thing and aren't comparable to pearls. Glitch rarity weapons are purples with higher stats and special effects not unique guns. I did cover how pearls got turned into legendarys in bl3. I want pearls to be there as an endgame reward for sinking your time into it rather then a gun you can easily farm then it not even be as good as a legendary
To this day, every summer, I create a new BL1 character just to build them up and chase pearls. Some of my best memories as a teen were pulling all nighters hitting The Farmory and Crawmerax. To this day I've never seen a Bessie, and getting it to drop has become the goal for each character. One day I'll get one.
honestly the easiest way to make pearls great is to have 2 rarities for endgame pearls are the 0.01% dropchance worlddrops that are the best weapons of the bl franchise without nerfs, since there isnt a dedicated way to farm 1 they can be absurdly powerful and seraphs as raidboss rexclusives / reaidboss vendor for special gear like dual element weapons, shields, or reserved for broken abilities like the redestributors effect where you connect enemies and deal dmg to them with this you could so easily get ppl to farm 2 seperate things in endgame and be rewarded for it
Like i said in the video, I think pearls deserve to have a really low drop chance from the endgame content. Mainly so it gives you a reason to want to play the endgame. BL3 fails this because all the Takedown gear while good when it first came out got so power crept and nerfed that there is actually no reason to want to do them besides test a build.
@@Cashew1405 y but look bl3 is to me at least a complete failure i have no wish to replay it, the story, endgame, balancing it all is bad so. i feel we should also change the weapon parts system back the one in bl3 is terrible and my argument is the hellwalker this gun has ONE version of itself ONE the literal only thing changing aside lvl is the annointment you cannot fk up the hellwalker cuz there is ONE hybrid weapons should return and therefore they need to put the legendary prefix on other parts again + opening up the system for weapon generation
@@Cashew1405 and im currently having a bit of fun with bl1 i do think we should return to bl1 more like for example no op lvls n shit instead enemies legit just get legendary peal gear endgame at random and drop that then including shields and artifacts IMAGINE how replayable that would be

It's funny how amongst the most powerful weapons in borderlands 2 probably half of them are blue due to the interaction with the bee. Hell, even the conference call lost it's God tier status because the removal of the interaction with the bee.
The CC is still a top tier shotgun with or without the Bee. Besides, if you are rating guns based on how they perform with a Bee you are not rating them fairly in the first place.
@@theobell2002 But because so many people lean on the bee that's why it's common to see BL 2 guns are rated depending on how they work with the bee. But many of the best guns are already strong without the Bee though like the CC, it just used to be even stronger on the top list.
Bl3 desperately needed pearls to flesh out it's endgame but whatever way gearbox wanted to put them in apparently would've used too much memory ruling out cross-play forever. No idea how.... but that's what Randy said
This is what killed bl3 for me. Didn’t have that classic feeling of relief and reward you get from getting the legendary or pearl you wanted like in the first two mainline games.
I actually want pearls to be fairly common drops, just make the thing thay drops them the most difficult fight in the game. Maybe something like the Maliwan Takedown having a 10% chance to drop them or something. I'm much more of a fan of working hard to get something good than RNG giving it to me.
I see what your saying but I think pearls shouldn't be easy to get in any way. I did make a video that covered what I wanted them to be (bl4 pitch). If pearls are done right, then every single one of them would be completely broken and could destroy almost anything in the game. Them being super rare makes it so that the game rewards you for putting your hours in and you can beat whatever the game throws at you. An example I like to use is Super Sonic in Sonic 2. Your first few times playing through that game you won't be good enough at it to unlock super sonic but after you've played the game a ton you can and will unlock them earlier and earlier each playthrough just letting you zoom through the game
weird, I played the wonderlands redux mod and was done with it very, very quickly. Got almost all the pearls really quickly, guess I got lucky? Also incredible vid. Funny, good length and overall enjoyable even though I knew all of this stuff. New sub
Thanks for the sub! Idk what to tell you. I have killed that pot on Chaos 10 so many times bahaha. Once did an entire stream just farming them and didn't see that pearl

I don't understand how changing a couple guns to have a different color item card was too much for bl3. You already have a boat full of legendaries, and all you gotta do is change those to light blue

Ahh what? Never heard of an Anarchy Nemesis. Are you sure you didn't get the Invadier hybrid? To test aim and shoot once. If it shoots the while mag that's the hybrid!
I don't entirely agree. It needed better balancing for sure but OP levels killed non meta guns more then UVHM itself. But I will always retain the opinion that required slag to do dmg is dumb and should not ever return.
@@Cashew1405Yes, thank you! Especially with the new supposed glitch that doubles certain raid bosses health pools. That Stalker boss is so godamned brutal
Facts, the first time I saw the bearcat's grenade burst I thought it was so cool but then you shoot an enemy with it and their health bar doesn't even move
tl;dr they're either broken or redundant, take your pick but you can't have "conducive to a healthy and varied endgame" or "have a valid reason to exist outside of ooh shiny". The problem with Pearls is that they're not designed to work in Borderlands' progression and their inclusion places them at an awkward crossroad between overpowered and redundant. Borderlands' loot progression isn't inherently linear, there are different options within the highest loot tier(s) and ideally all options should be equally usable with the right build, and this is where Pearlescents, and by extension Seraphs and Effervescents, find themselves at odds with the game's progression. Pearlescents, being a rarity above Legendary, need to be more powerful to reflect the effort required to get them, however that makes them centralising to the endgame as you would be stupid not to use them over anything else if they're more powerful; alternatively, pearlescents are made to be comparable to legendaries, this makes them redundant as they might as well just be legendaries if all you're doing is making legendary items but the name is cyan or pink or rainbow coloured instead. This is where Gearbox made a solid choice in trimming the fat off the Loot Tier system in Borderlands 3, in theory at least. By removing rarities above legendary they could instead make new items stay within the power scale of what's expected from legendary loot and focus on making items that open up new build possibilities rather than make existing build possibilities redundant or bloating out the loot system.
Thanks for taking the time to write all that. I think that when pearls are rare enough they ARE the endgame. A reward at the end of the game for sinking hours and hours into it. I don't think you should look at pearls as needing to be balanced. The point of them is to be broken and be able to demolish everything in the game with it. I cut this part out of the vid but I compared it to super sonic in the old genesis games if you ever played those. If you were good enough at the game and sunk enough time into it and learned all the routs and whatnot you would unlock super sonic early and blast through the rest of the game. Pearls should be the same I think
@Cashew1405 Valid point, especially if you consider that in every game some of the best in slot picks are uniques or purple rarity items, it doesn't matter if some items get more power than others as long as other items are still usable. I think it ultimately comes down to personal perspective on balance and that the Borderlands series is a primarily PvE game so it doesn't, maybe even shouldn't, be trying to achieve a level playing field in that regard
Let me explain to you how hard it is to get a pearl. Ive played borderlands 1 and 2 for a combined 8000 hours. Long enough to get every character maxed out with perfect gear. Not god rolled but perfect. Ive killed Crawmerax enough times to max out every proficiency of every sub class on every character with every weapon class. Ive beaten digi stuck peak over 1000 times. Other than the guarantied drop at the end of the peak i have seen a legit pearl a total of.... Zero times. 0 . That being said i did get a god roll dupa once. That was a sick day.
I'm a small lil tiny guy, people shouldn't care about what I think about it. But the big reason I won't cover it is because I don't want to cap my growth by indirectly accusing and going after creators.
13:50 didn’t really like the bl3 sand hawk. Hated it actually. Like sure it did a lot of damage. But compared to the one in bl2… it’s kinda shit. Is it a good gun? Yes. Just saying by comparison it’s crap. Cause the changed it from an smg to a sniper. The sand hawk from bl2 had more ammo in the clip, plus reserve ammo. Bl3 only kept the power of it
I agree that they shouldn't of changed it to a sniper for bl3. Mainly for the reason that automatic snipers feel awful to use in bl3. The gun itself is really good, especially on a clone Zane build where your not the one shooting it lmao
and factoring in they only need around 400 chests on average, you can get quite a bit of them. im closing in on 60 legit farmed pearls (20+ pre GOTYEE)
Then you, are really lucky to have gotten that many. There was a rise, bl1 the pearls were good and the fall was bl2 and beyond since the pearls were bad and then never returned
@@Cashew1405 i call the lootlemon rates BS. something completely doesnt add up. my experience is around 800 lance chests at most, which are around 40 armory runs per pearl. pretty consistent. even if i use the 0.011% per weapon, i get 173 armory runs per pearlescent or 478 runs if i use per chest, far higher than most numbers ive seen or experienced myself. (average of 2,75 weapons per lance chest and 19 repeatably/fast lance chests per armory glitch, you technically can get 22 per nade jump run, but in my testing, the overall CPM is lower if you go for the 3 leftover chests (bc they are further away and thus less efficient). also, craw is FAR, FAR slower to get pearls. i would say at minimum 8x, prolly more like 50x slower. yes, you got a higher pearl rate, yes you can farm him a handful of times, but for me, the hard limit is 7 runs and the safe limit is 3-4 runs. the game never crashed at 3 kills in a row, but guaranteed crashed for me at the 8th kill. (too many weapons i guess). so to not crash, i had to exist and re drive back to his lair. then even with THE highest damage output in the game (perfect wrath or perfect anarchy lilith) he takes at least like 10-15 seconds to kill, no to mention all the ways you have to run and drive the elevator up. TLDR: nade jump is the fastest, then standard drive to armory, then craw.
I just never understood the appeal of grinding for loot post-game. You grind bosses/chests so you can get better loot to... what? Kill bosses better? So you get better loot to kill bosses, to get better loot to kill bosses, to get better loot to kill bosses, for infinity. If you've already beaten the bosses once, then how is it any more satisfying a second time when they only get easier and easier the better the loot you get? Sorry, I just never understood the appeal of the grindy endgame. Pearlescents don't really matter if you can't really earn them until you've completed all the challenges.
It all works in moderation. Pearls are a great endgame activity since they're rare and are the best in the game. Yes your grinding boss's just to fight them again but if the endgame is big enough and there's lots to do, that's not a problem. In bl2 we'll kill the same raid boss' over and over and in bl3 we'll do the Maliwan Takedown over and over because it's fun. The loot from both aren't actually that great, not at endgame atleast. Pearls would be a reason to DO the endgame and a good reward to use against the games hardest challenges. I do agree with you though, Pearls should never be mandatory.
Yes it is. It has the same characters, gamplay menu's and manufacturers. It's litterally Cannon to the borderlands series with it taking place in between bl2 and bl3.

I guess just the Butcher, Bekah, and maybe Unforgiven. All the others from both what you've described and how little I see of them in build videos and such, make them look they wouldn't be missed.
The Storm but you know good this time.
No character can really make it work besides Gaige, especially in OP levels
man i dream of quitting my job to make stuff i care about and share online. this makes me realize i suck and shouldn't do that.. . . but as a OG fan i can tell you put some real effort into this and it's a great reflection of the community at large.
Mate, same. Quitting my job to just do this all day is the dream. Thanks for all the compliments but don't sell yourself short. The more do something the better your going to get at it.
I have found every pearl in bl1 except for the Nemesis pistol.
Nemesis my beloved
Compelling engaging, and easy to follow
I love this video
You have some better content here then a lot of the main guys
I apriciate you saying that, that's so encouraging to hear!
I got the Omega shield off Crawmerax and it's a game changer.
Only pearl shield I've ever seen him drop. Probably killed him nearly 1000 times over the years.
Yeah omega's good but it's probably my least favourite out of the 3. I'm a Rose man myself
what i would probably do to make pearls more valuable is that When you find them they are as weak as common weapon but can be level up by using them to kill ennemies making their damage stat match legendary weapons while having the drop rates being between epic and legendary
The bl1 pearl grind is so addicting
Still my favorite memory on bl2 was getting an avenger from a bullymong pile
Pearl world drops in bl2 are the only time for me that they REALLY feel like they did in bl1. Getting a world drop pearl, even if they aren't that good, is still exiting because of how rare a pearl world drop is!
Your delivery was incredible- you’ve earned a sub :)
Serpens just due to how useful corrosive dmg is in BL1. It has a permanent position in slot 3 of my AR Roland build.

i like how reliable the wanderlust is its so totally useful and it totally has perfect accuracy and ammo conservation

Fuck yeah!
Definitely, i love playing as Mordecai in B1, he's so damn good

Wait I had no idea that the stalker was in bl1. I mean I haven't really played much bl1 but you'd think I'd have known that lol.😂😂😂
I never understood why borderlands 2, never capitalized on a Hyperion armory style dlc.
Would have been insanely fun
honestly the easiest way to make pearls great is to have 2 rarities for endgame
pearls are the 0.01% dropchance worlddrops that are the best weapons of the bl franchise without nerfs, since there isnt a dedicated way to farm 1 they can be absurdly powerful
and
seraphs as raidboss rexclusives / reaidboss vendor
for special gear like dual element weapons, shields, or reserved for broken abilities like the redestributors effect where you connect enemies and deal dmg to them
with this you could so easily get ppl to farm 2 seperate things in endgame and be rewarded for it
Like i said in the video, I think pearls deserve to have a really low drop chance from the endgame content. Mainly so it gives you a reason to want to play the endgame. BL3 fails this because all the Takedown gear while good when it first came out got so power crept and nerfed that there is actually no reason to want to do them besides test a build.
@@Cashew1405 y but look bl3 is to me at least
a complete failure
i have no wish to replay it, the story, endgame, balancing it all is bad
so. i feel we should also change the weapon parts system back
the one in bl3 is terrible
and my argument is
the hellwalker
this gun has ONE version of itself
ONE
the literal only thing changing aside lvl is the annointment
you cannot fk up the hellwalker cuz there is ONE
hybrid weapons should return
and therefore they need to put the legendary prefix on other parts again + opening up the system for weapon generation
@@Cashew1405 and im currently having a bit of fun with bl1
i do think we should return to bl1 more
like for example no op lvls n shit
instead enemies legit just get legendary peal gear endgame at random and drop that then
including shields and artifacts
IMAGINE how replayable that would be
The Butcher is my favorite so far
Classic!
i never knew that the undertake has this chance to drop on the rocketeers
that explains the fact that i got 3 of them in my xbox 360 save file
Community: If you add pearls atleast make them USEABLE!
Gearbox: Just gives up and doesn't add them at all
Oh Randall Pitchfork.. how far have you fallen indeed.
Watching these videos really makes me want to play bl2 for the 100000000000000000009999900000000000000000000000th time spending hours to farm the same guns and dropping the game for another 5 months and repeat
The ledge was also a thing in the terromorphous fight but was sadly pached out for some reason
Who needs the ledge in Terra's fight when you have pride rock
What are you talking about? BL3 has a pearl….of ineffable knowledge
You forgot to mention that when they first appeared. They were white anuntil they redid them and made them that cyan blue
Cool to see you do a more serious style video as well (I said more, not entirely :) )
Yeah I want to start doing alot more of these video essay's since it's a pretty untapped market in the bl community but they are alot of work!
Keep it up! Hope they do well
Thank you for noticing my amazing ability of counting.
It's funny how amongst the most powerful weapons in borderlands 2 probably half of them are blue due to the interaction with the bee. Hell, even the conference call lost it's God tier status because the removal of the interaction with the bee.
Yeah, kinda crazy how in the top 10 borderlands 2 weapons not a single one would be a pearl aye
@@Cashew1405 The Bekah and Butcher both belong in top 10..
But many of the best guns are already strong without the Bee though like the CC, it just used to be even stronger on the top list.
i kinda miss grinding for really rare weapons the last game i played was bl3 and it seemed like all the legendary's where super easy to get
Bl3 desperately needed pearls to flesh out it's endgame but whatever way gearbox wanted to put them in apparently would've used too much memory ruling out cross-play forever. No idea how.... but that's what Randy said
This is what killed bl3 for me. Didn’t have that classic feeling of relief and reward you get from getting the legendary or pearl you wanted like in the first two mainline games.
Great video man! Was thoroughly entertained all 15 minutes
That's exactly what we like to hear!
I actually got the bear cat from the warrior, shot it a few times and was like is this rare? It's crap.
Awww rip lmao. I'm no stranger to some rare pearl drops either. My first ever pearl was from tiny Tina's slots in flamerock
The Flush Bekah and Casual Carnage are the only pearls I use.
Both are heaps fun!
No Butcher? 🤨
Very entertaining, was almost late getting ready for work watching this lol
Apriciate that, soz for work lol
orginaly pearl wepons were a bug
Yeah originally some really powerful weapons showd up as white and were on top of the inventory until pearls were added in the knoxx dlc
The fact a modder got pearls to work for bl3 is hilarious.
@@Cashew1405 I am pretty sure the drops are low. I will say the pot was the longest run for me, all others were around literally either 5 to 10 mins of farming. Fun mod, need to go back now contraband weapons were added. Also need to give 3s redux mod a go myself. Cant wait to see more content from you dude, gl in growing the channel.
I don't understand how changing a couple guns to have a different color item card was too much for bl3. You already have a boat full of legendaries, and all you gotta do is change those to light blue
Apparently something to do with Memory contains on low gen consoles but... as I said in the video I don't see it
"Pearls in B3 would've meant cutting an entire weapon manufacturer or class of weapon"
Oh you mean like how you cut said manufacturers into only certain weapons that they used to make in previous games? (Like hyperion pistols just not being a thing anymore)
Oh Randy....
Yep very true. Apparently it was because of c9nsole memory constraints
Great video man! You earned a sub 👍🏼

in the enhanced edition on ps4 i killed crawm and got an anarchy nemesis i cant find any info online and ive tried remaking it in willow tree for my pc but i cant figure it out it has 247x3 damage 5.5 fire rate with +44% fire rate on my mord it has nearly infinite ammo and like 20 fire rate
Ahh what? Never heard of an Anarchy Nemesis. Are you sure you didn't get the Invadier hybrid? To test aim and shoot once. If it shoots the while mag that's the hybrid!
What ruined every gun in Bl2 was the ultimate vault hunter mode
I don't entirely agree. It needed better balancing for sure but OP levels killed non meta guns more then UVHM itself. But I will always retain the opinion that required slag to do dmg is dumb and should not ever return.
@@Cashew1405Yes, thank you! Especially with the new supposed glitch that doubles certain raid bosses health pools. That Stalker boss is so godamned brutal
You're wrong. Also, UVHM is why BL2 is still alive.
I only ever got a avenger the disappointment was legendary as i was looking for a Aries
Yeah avenger was my 2nd ever drop in bl1. Was super exited at the time since I was Roland and ARs work amazing on Roland but it just kinda sucks lol
Honestly the only thing that makes 90% of the bl2 pearls bad is just low damage.
Definitely mate
Awesome video, if they don’t return in bl4. Gearbox is fkin losin it

Also I'm trippin' right now cause I litterlly JUST watched one of your vids haha
I am really missing the pearls from BL1 :(

Oh your totality right!
Pearls? I think you mean money or memes. The Sawbar is the only Pearl I would run occasionally. Definitely not meta, but oh well
Oh, and the Butcher too. The Interfacer seems way more powerful even when running Sal
Money or memes is a great way to put it haha
I still remember when level 50 was max😢
T'was a simpler time lol
Let me explain to you how hard it is to get a pearl. Ive played borderlands 1 and 2 for a combined 8000 hours. Long enough to get every character maxed out with perfect gear. Not god rolled but perfect. Ive killed Crawmerax enough times to max out every proficiency of every sub class on every character with every weapon class. Ive beaten digi stuck peak over 1000 times. Other than the guarantied drop at the end of the peak i have seen a legit pearl a total of.... Zero times. 0 . That being said i did get a god roll dupa once. That was a sick day.
Gravity Rush jumpscare?
Hoping they bring double anarchy back in bl4
Double Anarch but it's a pearl would slap
Thanks for the raid the other night lol
No worries mate! Tha ks for checking out the vids!
Hey cashew why don’t you cover the on going drama borderlands creator drama?
I'm a small lil tiny guy, people shouldn't care about what I think about it.
But the big reason I won't cover it is because I don't want to cap my growth by indirectly accusing and going after creators.
good vid!
If that's the case they could have removed COV weapons, they sucks.... hard
Idk... COV pistols always come in clutch in arms race.
Not to mention rainbow rarity in bl2 being better than pearls....
Depends which ones but all in all your kind of right
there was no rise, there was only a downfall.
and factoring in they only need around 400 chests on average, you can get quite a bit of them. im closing in on 60 legit farmed pearls (20+ pre GOTYEE)
what are you talking about? iron clan had THE highest defense in the game, on lilith it reaches heights were her procs make it practically permanent.
& the bl 1 hd added 10 new pearl guns
No those were legendaries lol. But they might as well have been pearls since they are all way too broken for how easy they are to get
