Cant explain it exactly but something about the weight, and feel is off. On a side note, the serrations on the cyphers are on a whole other level. Excellent job!

When you buy a knife from any company do the research make sure they are an authorized dealer on the knife brand name their selling.
Main reason I haven’t gone all in with you guys is warranty. You recently let up on sharpening your own knife, which is nice. But, I can get a replacement blade with Benchmade for $30 (UPDATE: Not anymore. Haha). Sold my UTX-85 because I was too scared to use it as an EDC. Before anyone judges and calls me names, I have $4k in knives. Regardless, $250 for a knife is a lot. Main reason I don’t deal with Spyderco any longer. They don't even offer blade replacements. Microtech does, which while expensive, I appreciate. Spyder trashed one of my nice blades doing a regrind during warranty process and offered 50% off their website prices which is basically street price. Meh. Also, not a fan of Chinese knife.
@@chewbama6285 I actually really like Microtech. I think they have loosened up on disassembling your knife (they offer toolsets now) and sharpening your blade. You are looking at ~$150 for a blade replacement on a Combat Troodon for instance. Cheaper on Ultratech and UTX series. Couple guys left Microtech and started up Guardian Tactical. Amazing action and Elmax blades are $70, which is cool. I used to love Benchmade (still have a lot and am buying more EX: mini Adams, s90v Bugout, etc in the next couple weeks), but they went from $35 blade replacements to a percentage of the price of the knife. Which ends up being insane (EX: $90 for a s30v Bugout blade on a $130 knife!). Don't get me started on their quality control and inconsistent grinds on each side of the blade. The blade centering is a big one people complain about, and I get it...it's oversight. But, you can easily adjust the pivot screw to bring it to center. ZT used to be $20 for blade replacements, but as of last month they are now $40. Still very reasonable to me. I pay the premium up front for service and peace of mind that if I break a blade (however unlikely) or after sharpening, I can get a new blade or parts. TL;DR - They all have pros and cons. Need to weigh out what you are willing to pay, after sale support/warranty, what service you expect, the style of the knife and the application you are using it for (EDC, defense, hunting, fidgeting, etc.). PS, MAP prices for everything are likely increasing this year. I try to offset by buying from places that don't charge sales tax. Check out Northern Knives for a good selection and are a Microtech dealer as well. Plus, they take trades and offer crazy good trade-in values. Ask for Alistair and tell him Aaron sent. you :)
@@Aaron-lx3gz So, did you buy a UTX-85 back again now? ha. I was looking at the new Benchmade Shootout since I liked the HK Turmoil, but decided to go with MT and order an Ultratech. Hope I like it.
@@silverapple2011 You'll love it. UTX-85 is 85% of the size of the Ultratech. I find the UTX-85 too small for my liking, and I don't even have big hands. Sorry ladies. :( I am currently rocking an Ultratech and a Dirac Delta. I love the action on it better than my Combat Troodon, which I sold. And its $150 cheaper!
I'm embarrassed to admit that I didn't understand who Microtech was when I first began to collect knives years ago. For some reason, I thought they were on par with MTech and avoided them. I am much more experienced now and just purchased my first (a Combat Troodon from DLT Trading). Wow. This will certainly NOT be my last. Next is the UTX-70, followed possibly by a Spartan. You guys make fantastic tools/weapons and they are worth every penny. Keep up the great work!

Awesome videos! Keep them videos comin! Those counterfeits aren’t even nearly as durable as an authentic Microtech either. I doubt those counterfeits have the amazing blade geometry that Microtech’s have. You really get what you pay for....Great work on both knives and vids. I’m thinking of getting a UTX85, I love my Ultratech. I’m a firefighter/paramedic and use my knives pretty hard. All of my Microtechs have held up great! If anyone is on the fence of getting one, you won’t be disappointed if you do. 🤙
Quick question based on this, there is a knife shop here is south Africa: blades and triggers, can you guys confirm that they buy microtech knives from you?
purchased mine from a gun show and thankfully she's real! I go often and know the guy as he owns a higher end blade store in the area. So many fakes out there though!
So how about a used microtech I seem to have found a microtech “Eagle claw” with a chipped blade he explains in his armslist add that it originally cost 400 bucks
I've noticed some sellers on eBay listing clones, they don't say they are Microtechs but the advertise a picture in their listings that shows a box and card with your name on it. Is this something you guys watch for and report to eBay to have removed or is it a lost cause? If I sent you the sellers names would anything be done or would it just be a waste of your time?
Im sorry I bought troodon mini I love your knifes but could never justifying paying over 100 for the knife I bought from a chinese store I love my counterfit knife it works and looks great the price is a issue and so i bought a copy Iove it

And just so guys know their getting much better in their clones! Was very hard to tell at first as they changed a few a things but after careful review their is a few dead giveaways! I will try to post a video soon for you guys to see and will post a link for you! Cheers from 🇨🇦 Ps I don’t think I can actually order the real deal in my country hence to why I ordered from wish!!!
Microtech Knives, Please tell me that not all Microtech LUDT models have the blood groove on the blade bought 2 new LUDT each from a reputable authorized Microtech dealer, 1 of them is full tactical black partial serrated blade M390 steel dated 12/2019 S/N 16311 and the other is red with black serrated blade dated 05/2019 S/N 11456 204P steel. Ray said in this video the LUDT knife that doesn't have the blade groove is a counterfeit so i think hes incorrect on this one not all LUDT have it especially in the newer LUDT models.
So I really wanted the Borka / Marifone combat troodon when it first came out bc it looks like the coolest OTF I've ever seen. Problem is it's $5,3000 and who TF would pay that. I did pay $55 for my damn near perfect clone in aluminum and D2 steel and F'N LOVING IT!!😈❤ The silly part is that the action is far more smooth on the clone than my genuine. That purchase spiraled me into buying 10 other Microtech clones and I don't regret it for a moment. Every single one I've disassembled and reassembled for cleaning and sharpening and all function flawlessly. I really like the Halo 6 ones, just wish I could figure out a way to put a pocket clip on it 😩
The problem for people like me , who like in east Eu countries is import prices . Generally speaking ,due to the country economics we can not affort one of the permium knives . So we shoot for 50-100 $ range knives . The problem starts when we want that thing deleivered , not only does it take about a month but usually we have to pay over 70-80 bucks for it . So we end us with paying sboule the price and when you convert to out currency (BGN for me ) i pay more than 3x for a knive . So we start looiking for other ways of getting them and we buy knock offs.
And what's real funny is they picked the absolute worst clones to compare. I have a fake ultratech and combat troodon. Also have real ones and I PROMISE these guys would be scratching their butts trying to figure out.... Guaranteed . And what's wild is the testing showed the steel on my fakes were d2.. and judging by the edge retention, it's ALMOST as good as microtechs elmax.. their elmax is slightly better, I'll give them that. But if you got a strop, it don't matter.... The ultratech fake has LESS wiggle than the real one..and the combat troodons are about the same.. and that's after using it every day for a year and the real one hiding out in the safe.... And save all that " you gotta have a real one next too it".. I do.. and it's so close I have to keep the boxes to keep track odnthe real ones serial number... So guys if you don't have 300 dollars to spend on an ultratech , scoop you a good clone... They are 99% the knife you would get from microtech
Maxace medusa 2 Ia way better then this it has a m390 blade Less blade play then microtech and better aluminum for the body and titanium inlays or zirconium or timascuss and it costs 300 bucks
I know a guy who bought an $1100 Trijicon ACOG for $80 from Wish. He said he thought it was stolen, I told him it was fake. The part that makes me mad about it is that they don’t advertise these things as replicas even, they try to convince people that they’re the real deal.
I guess one way to keep from buying a fake, is to buy straight from the manufacture, or from a dealer that the manufacture will have on their genuine website. Though buying straight from Microtech will absolutely assure you that you will be getting a genuine Microtech knife.
Not to be rude you make a good knife but pricing over about $800 or so is a bit extreme. I understand a well made product and it having a price tag to reflect it but to try and do what rolex and other watch companies have done by jacking their price up to make their product be more rare to own and in turn makes the name a more notable name but if you really want a knife in every person's pocket the price would reflect that. I mean case knives are well made and last a lifetime and they are nowhere near this expensive. I would own tons of your knives and other big brand knives if the price wasn't so inflated. Again not hating your knives, you make a great knife ❤ example- I own an expensive assault rifle and a cheaper one and they both fire the same and both run great with proper care so if I knew that in the end they would be the same I would have never bought the really pricy one to begin with. They have both lasted many years without any issues. So the cheaper one is completely fine and still amazingly built

I can spot a cheapo a mile off and there are a LOT of Microtech lookalikes out there. Number one giveaway is the price. Secondly is the weight, as the garbage knives weigh so much! If you're looking for a lower-cost OTF try some of those from Germany. I'm still using mine that I got 30 years ago and they work like new. My Microtech Scarab, as much as I love it, fails to deploy the blade half the time, and if the knife is cool at all, forget it. They may have fixed that, it's been 13 years, but I can't bet another $500 on it. I do still love the company though!
So what happens when you send in your $400 knife for warranty service, and they decide to tell you it's a clone? ...do they just keep it and tell you to pound sand, or what?
#1 way to know it's counterfeit: they include a screwdriver so you can actually fix it.

I just ordered one of them I hope I don't get in a fight. Great videos
What do you guys do with the people’s knife’s send in counterfeits?
I don't want to buy a fake off wish but I've been waiting for 6 months for a ludt. When do u see them back in the stores
Thanks
One of them won't have a comically overpriced pricetag
been waiting for this
Is legal to sell clones? What can we do if we see clones for sale?
Uh yeah common now its illegal to sell clones from the original that is patented
If you see a clone tell them that it is illegal to sell clones..... grab them and just take em .
Haven't seen any new videos with Jason lately.
do you guys really skip over a "556" serial number for every model? can you elaborate on that?
I was thinking the same thing, wouldn't every run that went that high or beyond have 556 in the sequence?
@@SyntheticCompany no they are saying that's a really really super low serial number I have otf microtech's that have serial number 1 0 1 8 2 6 you should be suspicious if the serial number is that low i think he's saying
Very good. I love microtech.🇹🇭🇹🇭🇹🇭🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🏾🙏🙏🏾🙏🙏🙏
That tiny bit of extra detail just doesn't justify the 1000% price increase. Especially when they're all made in the same Chinese warehouse 😂
Literally said all parts machined in house
Awesome videos! Keep them videos comin! Those counterfeits aren’t even nearly as durable as an authentic Microtech either. I doubt those counterfeits have the amazing blade geometry that Microtech’s have. You really get what you pay for....Great work on both knives and vids. I’m thinking of getting a UTX85, I love my Ultratech. I’m a firefighter/paramedic and use my knives pretty hard. All of my Microtechs have held up great! If anyone is on the fence of getting one, you won’t be disappointed if you do. 🤙
Are they sharp enough to cut off arm hairs with EASE?
Quick question based on this, there is a knife shop here is south Africa: blades and triggers, can you guys confirm that they buy microtech knives from you?
Do you sell to Canadians?
Great Video. Thank you for sharing.
Please drop another batch of LUDT'S. I want one.
Excellent tutorial guys. Very informative & I'm sure it opened up a lot of eyes about counterfeiting. Keep up the great work.🗡👈👊🇺🇸👍
Not all LUDTs have the blood groove. Check out pics on any reputable online dealer.
What about blade HQ. I just ordered a Micro Ultratech.
Blade hq is reliable
purchased mine from a gun show and thankfully she's real! I go often and know the guy as he owns a higher end blade store in the area. So many fakes out there though!
What serial numbers do you not issue? 556, 762, 223, 454, what else?
No trademark on the real or fake 85??
Is Blade HQ reputable?
Yes! They are one of our dealers
Did they make a 0644-06/2004 model
Im sorry I bought troodon mini I love your knifes but could never justifying paying over 100 for the knife I bought from a chinese store I love my counterfit knife it works and looks great
the price is a issue and so i bought a copy Iove it
Thanks for the video man! I honestly had no idea, I genuinely thought I was purchasing real microtech knife from Wish and always wondered how they got away for selling a lot cheaper but now i know! And just so guys know their getting much better in their clones! Was very hard to tell at first as they changed a few a things but after careful review their is a few dead giveaways! I will try to post a video soon for you guys to see and will post a link for you! Cheers from 🇨🇦
Ps I don’t think I can actually order the real deal in my country hence to why I ordered from wish!!!
Send me the money and I’ll order for you and mail it to you myself. Everyone deserves the chance to own an authentic Microtech!!!
What’s your website for purchase?
Our knives are available through our authorized dealers! Head here to find a dealer near you: microtechknives.com/find-a-dealer/
Always buy from a authorized MK dealer! Always! My UltraTech: BladeOps! My LUDT: Nashville Tactical Lounge. My MSI: Microtech gear site.
Is Smokey Mountain Knife Company a Authorized seller ?
Yes I believe so.
pretty sure
Thanks guys. Great video thanks for sharing what real and what’s fake. This helps us a lot. Thank again.
Where are they in stock? 🤷♂️
I really like the Halo 6 ones, just wish I could figure out a way to put a pocket clip on it 😩
What's the significance of the number 556?
The problem for people like me , who like in east Eu countries is import prices . Generally speaking ,due to the country economics we can not affort one of the permium knives . So we shoot for 50-100 $ range knives . The problem starts when we want that thing deleivered , not only does it take about a month but usually we have to pay over 70-80 bucks for it . So we end us with paying sboule the price and when you convert to out currency (BGN for me ) i pay more than 3x for a knive . So we start looiking for other ways of getting them and we buy knock offs.
We need a 202-2023 update because of how many more fakes have came into the market as well
they scared cause the fakes have gotten so good they wont be able to tell the difference between real and fake
Thanks guys..
Do you recall where to get a good clone?
Maxace medusa 2 Ia way better then this it has a m390 blade Less blade play then microtech and better aluminum for the body and titanium inlays or zirconium or timascuss and it costs 300 bucks
7:00 mark that air hose noise you know the machine shop is close by lol.
I know a guy who bought an $1100 Trijicon ACOG for $80 from Wish. He said he thought it was stolen, I told him it was fake. The part that makes me mad about it is that they don’t advertise these things as replicas even, they try to convince people that they’re the real deal.
Y'all can snob all you want.. microtech makes.a market for clones by charging 400 dollars for a 200 dollar knife..
Is bladehq a trusted source?
Yes. Very.
The guys in china/ YangJiang making excellent work. Good quality for less money!
I guess one way to keep from buying a fake, is to buy straight from the manufacture, or from a dealer that the manufacture will have on their genuine website. Though buying straight from Microtech will absolutely assure you that you will be getting a genuine Microtech knife.
Thanks for some great information. Looking forward to the next video. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
where I can buy a microtech otf in Mexico?!
You don't
wish.com, you can thank me later and save many pesos
@@scottduerson3724 yeah if you want to get Chinese crap
Really interesting video. Looks like the buttons suck on every counterfeit. None of them were even close to being as well machined as the real ones.
Can I still get a halo still. Had an ultra tech for 2 years. Every website shows not in stock
Hey! Stay tuned to our social media for updates!
Sad part is nowadays you won't find one of their knives at an authorized dealer either
So where can I buy a Microtech and be sure I'm really getting a Microtech?
Blade HQ
Hollow grind
Knife center
E Knives
DLT Trading
Also check Microtech’s website for their authorized dealers if you want to shop in-store (always recommended)
@@Invictus-Actual Thank you for the reply. I know it's a huge expansion of your business, but direct sales would be cool and then I'd know I was really getting the real McCoy. Amazon sales would be good too. I will check out the sites you mentioned. Thank you for your information.
Great video...when are you guys getting more hats int the store?
Scot Kurek Already back in stock !
There are still some light clones. I have a UTX-85 clone that’s as light as the original
So what happens when you send in your $400 knife for warranty service, and they decide to tell you it's a clone? ...do they just keep it and tell you to pound sand, or what?
They laser off their logo and will charge you to send it back. Understandable.
@@gigilaco For real? I'm hoping they only charge a reasonable shipping cost?
The best way to tell the difference is that a MT is hundreds if not thousands of dollars .
And a fake is not.
Not unless you get scammed XD
“You can tell this one’s fake because it has a better engraving”
