I remember being in a similar situation. A girl invited me to her place and I was under the assumption that it was fine with her parents. Her younger sister was there, and warned me that she's not allowed to bring guys home uninvited. I thought we'd be having dinner with the parents, guess not. I confronted her, and then I heard a car engine and the gate opening. Her father was home. She told me to hide, but I didn't. I went straight out to him, greeted him, explained to him what impression I was under and asked him if I could leave and come back another day to properly meet and visit. He asked me to stay, gave me a beer, we talked a bit and then he sent me on my way. Never talked to the girl again, pretty sure she got an earful after I went home.

Over protective fathers seem to produce really messed up daughters who eventually find a way to embarrass and disgust them. It's a relic of a time before online hookups can happen in minutes and even before then it was a good way to drive them to do even riskier behaviors. Plus it comes across a bit sus too.
@@richardnash6111 Nothing sus about it. That's new age thinking that think it's more normal for a mom to want her son to be the man of the house, than it is for a father to protect his daughter.
This is one of those odd situations where the father seems like he's more concerned with ensuring his daughter doesn't end up with a lowlife, but at the same time, doomer's lack of achievement in life likely involves more factors than just his current inabilities, hence him being a doomer and expecting a certain pessimistic outcome of things that he may go along with. I can't tell if it's the daughter or the dad who is playing doomer, so I'm looking forward to the next part
At this point? Everything in the relationship is a red flag. I’d just dip & never come back regardless of who’s playing who. Just look at the family dynamic of the house. No one trusts each other, everyone is hiding skeletons in their closets, & there is always a second motive behind everything.
@@logangotcha8429 That looks like a pretty standard white family in today's world. This episode is a total food-for-thought. -why did she want to bring him home? -what kind of guys she brought before, to worry her brother? -is she really trying to piss her father? -does she really like him, or is just another toy for her? -why get him involved in something he certainly doesn't want to? -Why the father had make it even worse for Sebastian? Also, considering how the big goon that punched his stomach looks, either is the eldest son, or someone who is too deep that want to take control of the operation when the current boss can't. Who knows if he does not want the gf for himself just to be officially part of the family.
Yea, though i understand the confusion. They are similar. That is why i said is possibly his eldest son (and aparently, either pretending, or really a corrupted polish police officer)
Sometimes you just have to stand up for yourself. I called my first girlfriends dad an asshole to his face for talking about my brother behind our backs. And broke up with the girl. He said that was the first time someone has stood up to him like that.
My wife's dad appeared a good dude to me when we first met. You know, hard enough to respect him as a youger one and soft enough to be honest and talk normally.
My ex’s dad is similar, but not to this level. He was always a douche, but would say things in between the douchery that gave me insights to his daughter’s personality. After a few years with her things went to sh*t pretty hard. Looking back on it I realize the things he told me were warnings. Especially the statements comparing her personality to her mother’s.
Wanna know a real tip that I got from my dad about women? "Always look at her mother, if you don't like her mother, then you won't like the daughter in a few years".
The key to getting along with your girlfriend's dad is talking about WWII, Van Halen (old Van Halen), and Grilling. Every one of my ex's dads loved me...if only my exes did too.
To be honest, one of better possible solution might be to come clear with everybody. Considering she knew her father was a psyho and still decided to bring him home, she might as well just emotionally torturing both man. Confronting her technically won't brake an agrament, (making somebody angry is not equal to breaking her heart) Also lots of professional man like her father, respect honor, truth and strength. Still situation is dire.
Don't be foolish by that bullshit "gangster code" or whatever, they don't involve civilians because it's bad for the business, they don't screw over their members because they can sing, professional in intimidation tactics don't care about honor, truth, respect and respect, they USE those things psicologically against their victims so they might think they're negotiating with relatively reasonable people, but they're not.
Imagine Sebastian falling off from the wardobe pointing his own gun on father, that would be incredible funny and hilarious, Probably he could afford some of the cheapest variants on market
My parents were always up my ass about my long term boyfriend they think he's a nerd who's doing nothing in life because he's going to University to be a teacher and not breaking his back to work at a warehouse. We got together in highschool and are still together 6 years later (20, 21 now). Anyways my parents'marriage sucks donkey balls and yet they were always protective about my dating, making my brother chaperone, never being kind, telling me I've got to break it off to "find myself and explore other options". Sucks but they've gotten off my ass a bit more recently.
One of mainly before this could happen is there are many need to talk about the possible future plans indeed, mostly when it comes relationship. I, as a man but don't have one but knew what it was coming, it is still unpredictable what will your or his/her parents will react on it.
I feel like no man will ever be good enough for my father. He keeps shifting his standards. I feel like by the time I get into a relationship, he'll be too dead to have a say in who I choose. I understand men have to ability to hurt me, but my father has done more harm than any hypothetical boyfriend for the simple fact that I haven't even had the chance at a serious relationship. I have have a lot of catching up to do in other avenues as well.

I broke up with my ex when did the same thing twice; "Hide, my dad is coming". Time later i meet with his dad and ask me why i didnt stood up and hide like a rat, i told him i was stupid, but agreed. Told him i broke up with his daughter because either she was embarrassed of me or she have other boyfriends and hide them like she did with me. Her father look angry, i tough were gonna fight, but he grab me by the arm and told me; " have a drink with me". Later we ended in a place called Blue Kitty, a strip club, he send her photos of us drinking and with girls. She call me angry and in tear, his father laugh so hard. Finally he told me; " I wish i had a son like you, daughters are a burden". And that was one of the best days i ever had.
When I told my bf about some of the protective thing my dad had done for me from my past boyfriends, rather than being scared off by it, he just agreed and said, “Yeah, that’s completely understandable. I totally agree with that.” Lol 😂

I told her father everything and he was pissed at her. But in the end we still go on bowling evening with him and a few friends.
What an insecure dad to say the least. Doomer here is honest, gives a shot at things despite how cynical he may be and still gets punished by some macho arrogant insecure boomer. The dad does not have balls, he lacks brain size and can't assess consequences properly making it easier to take actions while doomer actually has the ability to think through everything and still take actions despite the acknowledgment of inevitable suffering. That is balls and courage.
No you clearly aren't of the right upbringing to understand. It does not matter that Doomer isn't inherently a bad guy, the dad is right that the Doomer will never achieve anything of greatness, therefore his actions are fully justified, only an idiot would want to muddy his bloodline with a failure who will be leeching off of his success either directly or indirectly after he dies. This sort of failure with above average intermixing is one of the big reasons our society is going so much downhill.
Don't bother having kids if you can't handle them growing up. Let them live their life. Obviously there should be some rules, but don't treat them like it's the middle ages. That'll just make them want to see you less when they're older.
People don't think about their future kids as anything other than a baby, seriously most parents despise their kids once they grow a personality and opinions. Future fathers aren't thinking about their grown child's well-being while they're knee-deep in Shelia's cooter.
It depends. We can't judge to the parents who make it's responsibility and control to their children, mostly this kind of 'situation' that there are many reasons but don't tell easily to others. It makes it secret more than we knew about it.

This is another reason for me not to even bother trying to be in a relationship, good thing I have many things I wanna do, that'll keep me occupied till I die.

He just doesn't care. I honestly hate that piece of shit. My gf is an amazing woman despite him, and I plan on marrying her someday, and when I do I will not be keeping in touch with the in-laws.
They way the girlfriend's dad and him talking really sounds like they could be best friends forever who will always be there for each other when they need the most.
Pretty gullible thing to think, him being somewhat friendly isn't indicative of some possible great friendship lmao, he literally called the dude a loser and that he'd never amount to anything, so why would he wanna befriend him?
Tony was pretty fine with her daughter's boyfriend. Except the for the black guy from college, but he was somehow more punchable than AJ, which is a hell of an achievement.
That's entirely not true. His daughter had a lot of boyfriends throughout the series and never did once Tony behaved with them like in this video. The worst he did to one of these guys was a passive-aggressive racist rant to a mixed man which didn't turn out violent at all. Bold of you to assume that Soprano knows his daughter is on the loose lololol
Excatly, like that shit couldn't backfire. What if that guy had gun? Or was even more of a nutjob than you. You have people shooting each other over roadraging.
I met my girlfriend's dad on our first date. I was nervous but wanted to get overwith. He kept it short and told me don't hurt her and all that stuff. If I had kids, I would just want some words before their date as well. No threats, if they use the same approach as I did. Keep it formal. Don't say anything inappropriate. Her father seems to be okay with me. They trusted me to watch their dog when they were on vacation. This was more than half a year after being with her.
Its been only few days since I watched this video, and there is still this sickening twisted feeling inside me that makes my blood boil and feel shit. Hopefully things will get better that I won't feel triggered by whatever this is.
It's a sopranos inspired story, loosely based on reality as all stories are. Don't get good media and real life too twisted, it's just a nice food for thought kinda thing.
If they have a good relationship, women tend to choose men with qualities that loosely resemble their dads, so if he's an assertive, confident dude, probably you are one as well.
If my dad were alive, I don't know if he would do this. Though he was a big, intimidating dude so I think he would scare the shit out of any girl or guy I dated. I feel bad for people who have parents in general who think scaring your child's partner and threatening them is a good idea.
my subjective take on the the clip is the father is a terrible person, and is borderline evil. He wants the best for his daughter but, the best is only someone just like him. Wojack never pushes.
I don't think he wants someone like him to be with his daughter he wants to be the man who will be with his daughter. I don't mean that in an incesty way more like he's ignorant of his own morality and too insecure to let her go.
When I met with my gf father. His first sentence I heard from him was: "If you want, I will drove you home" . Yeah thats the thing you want to hear when you want to be with his daughter

I agree
