  • In this service video, I perform an oil change on a 2015 Ford Edge Sport. These vehicles come with the 2.7L V6, twin turbo ecoboost engines and all wheel drive standard. They take 6 qts of 5w-30 oil.
    We are proudly using Amsoil in the vehicle due to its superior performance, protection and cost effectiveness. The Amsoil Signature Series featured in the video has a 15,000 mile service interval when used in a turbocharged application such as this vehicle. Through personal testing and research on my own vehicles, I have found this claim to be accurate. Thanks for the detailed video. Searched many forums but could not find anything. But you are well done! Now I can replace the oil in the engine myself!

    Has anyone else realized there are barely any fix it videos on the Ford Edge Sport with the 2.7L ? My guess would be that they hold up pretty good

      They are pretty reliable yes

      My 2015 sport with 72k miles just needed to have the plastic oil pan removed and resealed due to an oil leak. Was told they had to drop the subframe to get to it. A $1,375 repair that wasn’t fun. Outside of that, the car has been great.

    Thanks for this video! I had neveer changed the oil on my Edge. Always serviced. I might add that a 6 point 27mm socket is crucial to removing filter housing if it's hard to loosen. I was starting to roll the edges with a 16 point. I ended up having to break out my air impact to finally get it loose.

    My oil filter doesn’t slide/seat into the filter housing. Is that normal?

    Kind of scary that you can’t pre-oil the filter. Starting the engine dry with two turbo chargers, rather scary.

      Pre oiling the filter on filters this small has been de bunked many times. The only filters you need to pre oil most of the time are the big diesel filters that hold 3 or 4 qts

    I just did all this but when I check the dipstick is dry.
    crazy

      No leaks, drove 30 miles and nothing different, no lights but the dipstick still dry

    I have a 2018 Edge Sport and use Amsoil as well, but change it every 5K religiously. I understand extended drain intervals but I hear these EcoBoost engines push the oil hard so I'm leery of going too far past 5K even with the Sig Series. Your thoughts?

    • @THEDriverMod_
      @THEDriverMod_  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Signature series is made to do 10 to 15k at a minimum. I change it every 12-14k on my ecoboost. Yes, the ecoboost engines are tougher on oil due to turbocharging, but this oil is made to endure all of that and then some

      @@THEDriverMod_ I appreciate the response. We have 20K on ours so I'm just starting out with this 2.7L EcoBoost. Have you ever had an oil analysis done with an organization like Blackstone Labs?

    It still amazes me the complete stupidity of manufacturers to design it to where the oil filter goes in upside down

    • @THEDriverMod_
      @THEDriverMod_  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Makes less mess when you release a cartridge style upside-down and allows the oil to just drain into the engine. Upside-down spin on filters and bottom side down cartridge filters are what puzzles me

    • @wiscothrills1409
      @wiscothrills1409 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@THEDriverMod_ I was referring to ones that don't have the cartridge. This is a good design, but there's some that have no cartridge and when you take off the filter oil just spills everywhere and there's really no way to not make a mess

      @@alyamoney ya I would agree I like this a lot better, it's just older cars that have it at the top spill everywhere so those ones kinda suck
