Thank you for a simple, clear, no nonsense explanation. I have tried some methods with only temporary results. I trust your insight and approach. I shall attempt some or all of these methods.
Something else that can happen, is the laser has a mechanism to help it focus where the lens will slightly move up and down and there is a tiny piece of support plastic that breaks. When this happens it can have a hard time focusing properly. You would have to take the mechanism apart to get to it. I recommend if you are going to attempt this, look online because it is easy to break if your not careful.
I put a jar of honey on my ps2 and my game really worked !!! This dude is real deal & deserves his flower you will not only get a like but you earned a subscriber !
Thank you! Just picked up a used PS2 slim today and thought I might have to do some repairing, I think it was cleaning the ribbon area with alcohol that worked for me.
I had issues loading ps1 games, it was like the console didn’t think the disc was in there. Then I tried flipping it upside down and it loaded the game near instantly every time with no issue. It’s the strangest thing I swear
@@jewelsunniheartsfitnessanimei’m assuming the entire console and with the slim model as it’s a top loader and the lid may get a little loose over time
Thanks for the tips! Putting something heavy on top of the lid of my "new" second hand PS2 Slim did the trick! I'm also going to be cleaning it further.
Hello and thanks! I had the feeling the issue was just dust or dirt inside. So I opened up the console like you did with a general clean and blew the rest of the dust out. I'm now playing Silent Hill 2 again
Hah, I tried firing up my PS2 for some Yakuza but it wasn't cooperating. Tried cleaning those sensors and boom, first time! I thought I had cleaned it up real good when I first got it non-working for a pittance but I likely missed those areas. Thanks for the video :D:D:D
I've been meaning to get my PlayStation 2 fixed for a really long time now, but I'm not quite sure what the problem could be, because I can hear the laser assembly moving and trying to read the disc, but doesn't, however, by opening and closing the disc door multiple times, it can suddenly start reading the disc correctly, basically feeling like it only works when it feels like it.
@@axcc But the strangest part is that, after opening and closing the disc door several times, and it reads the disc correctly, everything works just fine afterwards.
Damn I tried replacing my laser multiple times and never thought about the ribbon. Thanks for the tip. Too bad it was years ago and I trashed the unit.
What do you think may cause a screen to usually freeze and or stutter? Like for example whenever the music plays for my video game for my ps2 it starts to freeze/stutter constantly until it gives up completely by automatically turning off the music. It’s the same for a video games intro. Like every time I start up a game the intro constantly freezes and stutter, but the strange thing is that it doesn’t always happen to my other video games though which run really well. So my question is the console (PlayStation 2) simply not registering the game properly or is it the disc themselves? Honestly any feedback would be great!
Just taking a crack at helping but it sounds like the game is only freezing in certain spots. Which means the lens is freezing when in certain positions I assume. Try the tip at 8:35
Tried all of these but didn't seem to solve issue. Games load, but all of them freeze at some point. Soul Calibur 2 can play intro cutscene, but freezes at the character select. Dark Cloud shows the Presents message on boot, but freezes. Bully freezes when the intro ends or skipped. When trying to load memory card in browser, it freezes and sometimes a visual glitch appears. DVD movies don't work. CDs work. System configuration has no problem. I additionally replaced the laser but nothing changed. So not sure what else to do.
Thanks, I bought a ps2 from a Goodwill bin and yeah first 2 days played fine. i decided to take it apart because I could see the dust bunnies and the the battery had run out. Afterwards it wasn't reading the disc because there was a screw hole that broke off and it made it so the contacts with the top half of the ps2 wouldnt sit tight enough to touch for the 2 sensors, if I placed something on top or flipped it the ps2 would work fine. sheesh i guess i should have left it dirty lol
got a complete system for $30 and 2 games but it has disc read issues for dvd (music cd's work oddly enough!) tried taping the tray sensor buttons but this didnt fix it so maybe some additional alcohol cleaning and regreasing might. If all else fails, might try fmcb.
My PS2 Slim will play PS2 games no problem, but when I try a PS1 game, it goes to the menu screen, then the PlayStation screen, then it just goes to a “No Signal” screen. Do you think these steps will resolve this issue?
It's your av composite cord. I had the same problem with one of my ps2's, i used the av cord from my other ps2 and it fixed it. A replacement av cord is around 10$, or a HDMI converter for ps2 is the same price.
Anyone know about this issue? So it was working ok but I cleaned the laser lens with alcohol and it literally stopped spinning every disk. I used care so I thought what the heck. I went back in with a a tip and just kind of moved the laser lens a little bit and it does move slightly…and poof it works again …so I don’t know if it’s possible to jam it with the a tip wondering if anyone else had that issue??
My game is reading some games and not others regardless of scratches I’ve got games sitting on my console to keep it shut I’ve cleaned the laser multiple times
Mine is doing this, did you fix the problem? I’m thinking about opening it to lubricate it- I don’t think my laser is bad, I think it may have a problem reading a couple big games, which I read is usually a problem of laser rail lubricant drying and hindering movement of the laser to the outer edge of the disk on big games
Hail Mary but does anyone have a idea why a ps2 slim won’t play a game with literally almost no scratches but others in the same condition, and or ps1 games scratched terribly to the point you think it wouldn’t ever play? My ps2 won’t play the first amazing spider man for some reason but it plays everything else as I described easily and it makes no sense to me this is a game I never beat when I was younger and now it’s a drag 😔
@@HowToXsadly I have and still it’s giving me trouble, after doing all this my console plays everything from terribly scratched to new no problem. But this one disk just seems to not wanna read for some reason….
