I m a Malaysian chinese. I can read, write and speak in Malay/Indonesian, English, Chinese and speak intermediate level Thai languages. I can understand all both of you spoken about. I enjoy your program. It’s fun.
It feels so weird watching Australian TH-camrs because I recognise the places you guys visit! I work in Chatswood, and I always feel bad when a customer comes in and I can't talk to them or help them properly. It's really inspiring seeing you speak Thai and Mandarin, and one day I hope I'll be able to learn other languages and use them in public like you have :)

Oh I just love when you post! I speak Mandarin and understand some Thai so this is just perfect! It's so nice that you are encouraging people to speak and practice and not be afraid. I sometimes have that problem when no one around me speaks the language so I watch youtube :)

This clip reminds me when I visited Australia 3 years ago. It was Melbourne but you could encounter buskers very often and most of them were so talented.
As a French woman who is now an Australian permanent resident this warms my heart ☺️ The majority of Aussies I meet don’t know another language unless they have a different cultural background and don’t really see the value in learning another language, which is a shame.

Started watching these videos a couple months ago. Couldn't understand anything. Been taking Thai courses for a month and a half and now I can piece together a lot of what is said. Excited to see where I'll be in 6 months or a year. Thanks for the videos.

This is an awesome video, and Paddy your 100% right , im learning thai because i used to travel to thailand 5 times a year, im supporting my thai gf now because she has no work , but if you can speak to a forein person in their native lingo then go for it , who cares what people think just do it, great video you 2 a big thumbs up

I wish I can meet both of you. We can talk about language and culture. I am a Vietnamese-Canadian (CBV) of partial Chinese, I speak English, French, Vietnamese, and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin). I have been to Thailand, Hong Kong/Macau, Taiwan, and Singapore. In Australia, I have been to Sydney, Brisbane and Gold Coast.

You're definitely right with studying a different language and using it full on. I mean, I self-studied Nihongo and Hangul when I was in highschool and uni but I have a problem speaking because I felt so embarrassed with my accent, pronunciation, and grammar that I resort to speaking in English or Filipino! Now, I can only understand the said languages a little bit though I used my stock Korean vocab when I went to Seoul 2 years ago! 55555 I'm trying to learn (self study) Pasa Thai and I have to say it is one of the hardest languages I have ever encountered! 55555

Hey Paddy I'm watch a lot of your videos and another guy who can speak Chinese really good and also when I try to speak Thai in restaurants. I find the Chinese get impressed quite easily but the Thais are not the same they do not impressed easily but I think its safe to say u impressed that chef a lot. Good stuff

Thais are extremely conservative and often quite shy and very protective of the pronunciation of their language, often I believe they're looking at farang expecting English to come out however become confused when farang attempt to speak Thai and then due to the saving face conservative culture Thais won't say anything negatively about the communication breakdown that's just occurred 555555557

Haha, really nice, I speak both these languages as well as Cantonese so it's really fun, Paddy, you need to do your tones better but you string you sentences quite well. I'm Australian of Malaysian heritage, it's not unusual for asians to speak multiple languages and dialects!

Not bothering me at all Felipe! น่าสงสาร was the word I used which essentially translates to pity/sympathy. They are different words used at slightly different times but definitely a handy one to know! Cheers ✌️
It's funny that you mentioned that a lot of people are afraid to try to speak the language. I was just like that when I visited Japan. I was afraid I was going to say something wrong or something stupid... then I got hungry... And then I realized that I'd rather sound dumb than be hungry... :D Lol.
