- เมื่อเร็ว ๆ นี้ผมสังเกตเห็นว่ามีร้านกาแฟจำนวนมากในเขตชานเมืองซิดนีย์ที่มีลูกจ้างเป็นคนไทย และแน่นอนว่าคนซิดนีย์จำนวนมากคงไม่ทราบแน่ชัดว่ามีคนงานร้านกาแฟที่เป็นคนไทยอยู่ที่นี่กี่คน ดังนั้นในคลิปนี้ผมจะทำการไปสำรวจดูในพื้นที่รอบ ๆ แชทส์วูดและฉันจะไปดูที่ร้านกาแฟว่า: พนักงานที่นั่น พวกเขาเป็นคนไทยหรือเปล่า
Now recently I have been noticing that a lot of cafes in the Sydney suburbs employ Thai workers. And a lot of Sydney people would have absolutely no idea how many Thai cafe workers there actually are. So in this video I did a little bit of an experiment. I went around my local area to see at the cafes: are the people serving me Thai?

You are GOALS! I really want to get to this level of Thai proficiency, but I'm a kinesthetic learner (learn by doing) and need to practice and speak with someone to really get it down. Reading and memorizing grammar just takes me too long. I'm so impressed with your ability to speak and your accent gets better by each video! Keep it up!

Hi Paddy - I tried the same experiment here in Luxembourg. You don't even have to ask... just bow slightly when first meeting them. If they feel compelled to bow back at you... 90% they are Thai! ;-)

Paddy, I kind of do the same thing with French-speakers. I hear them talking on the phone, and if they hang up around me I just start talking to them in French. (⬅️ I can ONLY do this in the USA, NEVER in France.)☝🏻OR, my favorite maneuver is to hear a French-speaker speaking English to me and I just respond to them in French and they’re both blown away and very pleased to have an American speaking to them in fluent French without even asking whether they speak French or not.

Our local in Jubilee Ave “Love of Beans” is run by Thais (sisters?) .... they speak English (even to fellow staff .... maybe to keep the locals from. being spooked by exotic tongues) when my wife and I rocked up we weren’t certain but I asked in my broken Thai and they were pleased 😃. Cafes are popular .... my Dad had a Cafe 27. Years ago Dad said ... “stay away from the staff!!!” Now married to meea con Thai bpen bah! 😎

Yes, unlucky I have run into many Thai staff working in Cafe's all around the Eastern and South Eastern suburbs. I can usually pick their accents up straight away.

whats the best & fastest way to learn speak Thai.. i am really interested to learn..
Mostly of the Thai workers will work in the Thai restaurant, Thai stores or hair saloon. In my country thats where you will find them, unless they became a citizen of that country, they can work in other field. Whereas some citizen of South East Asian countries you can definitely see them everywhere.

Actually I think there are differences between Thai accent and other South East Asain accents though. Thai accent sounds a bit sweet and the sentence they speak could be similar to Thai structure. Maybe try to compare the Thai accent from Thai restaurants and the other asain accents at the coffee places, pay attention to the intonation too. Nice job btw!
