I personally belive that the G class is more refined and it has a better built quality. And also in the G class factory they use more wax on the car then any other car company.
I've been lucky enough to have had a day at Eastnor and drove the Defender, Evoque & Disco. I didn't want to like the Evoque but it was incredibly impressive off road doing the sort of terrain show here. The Defender was very clunky, noisy, thrashy, bumpy. The Disco did it like a car would do an A road. No fuss at all.
that car is more than capable for that terrain..its a defender...thats a walk in the park for this car literally...if you want more traction lower tyre pressure
Cool video, landrover would have constructed that course knowing full well the capability of the landy to ensure there wasen't anythjng it couldn't handle with a little driving
In Canada, we importe defenders from South America and use serial numbers of old defenders to register new ones. People can pay over a 100K for these. That's about the price of a porsche 911.
Hi Range is for on road driving, low range is for off road rough terrain, difflock is for if you are likely to loose traction, i.e. ascending or descending on gravel grass mud snow. All descending on gravel, mud or snow low range 1st gear and as the guy said you control the descent by using the throttle NOT THE BRAKE, use the brake and you loose control possibly causing a roll over. Ascending on gravel, mud and snow low range 2nd gear difflock engaged. Hope this helps.
Towelie You should of done better research kid... LOL! This is how we off road here in Oregon. I would love to see your manly man tackle these pebbles LOL!
One thing that did not make sense to me is that Discovery was able to go through the same path. Defender is suppose to be a better offroad, am i wrong? So perhaps they did not show all the potential of Defender or Discovery is just as good.
I am lucky enough to own a gorgeous 110 Station Wagon in Brunswick Green and a 1974 Series 3. The 110 is a head-turner and the S3 gets the smiles and waves. They are both fabulous cars but they are what they are: they can’t be compared to modern vehicles- comfort is minimal even in the 110, fuel economy is pretty poor, reliability is well below Japanese standards but they are always repairable without breaking the bank and they will go anywhere you have the skill to take them. Unlike Range Rovers, the new Defender and Discoveries you have to drive the Defender because it won’t drive itself. IMO their flaws and roughness are a part of the charm along with their truly iconic looks. If you want a 4WD car a Defender is not for you: if you want a feeling of history and invincibility then the Defenders are the motor to buy 👍🏻
Gotta answer how hard it is to clean properly after doing something like that... That could be a deciding factor for anyone who seriously would want to use it for this
it is very beautiful, but it is specially prepared track specially for this car, it must then pass, in the worst case it just drive off back and will pass on the second attempt, or third) for the Russian off-road enthusiasts it looks very weak ... watch the video Russian jeepers control Defender in the Russian mud, rather than prepared marketers track sorry for the difficulties of translation) Google translation)
+graveshaker unfortunately no. the last Defender rolled off the production line some days ago, and its the end of an amazing and long lifetime for this model :(
too late its discontinued year or 2 ago, and it was quite cheap like 35k, but was illegal in the united states anyway, there are tons of defenders here though back from 70s 80s that you can get
it is a sine that tata is killing of the defender this year it is one of if not the best off roader that was ever created in many ways on par with and in many ways better than a humvee plus you don't look like a dick head
The old Defender isn't an SUV, it's a workhorse that loves the mud, water and snow, without a doubt the best 4x4xfar no exceptions, owned a 110 300tdi for 10 years and it's a family member, no bells, whistles or electronics, not one ECU. More like a castle on some big arse wheels. Unlike the new Defender :spit:.
This is great and all, but my Jeep grand cherokee could do this easily and it costs a fraction of what a Defender would cost. I love Defenders, but they are extremely overpriced, especially in The States.
David Whittaker my 2004 Grand Cherokee was $4200 in the U.S. last year and I've probably put $2000-$2500 into it. If you can build an offroader out of any defender in any country on the planet that could outperform mine given the same amount of money you'd be faced with a near impossible challenge.
David Whittaker I go off road all the time and as long as you don't drive off road without doors on then you won't have any problems with bending the unibody. Jeeps aren't very reliable, I'll give you that, but you are absolutely wrong when you say they aren't used on serious expeditions. You go to off road parks like Moab or Uwharrie and all you see is Jeeps. Go to an extreme races like KOH and they are 90% Jeeps. They are the best off road vehicles period.
John Smith The Land Rover Defender 90 is a very capable vehicle and is purpose built for off-road, and there is no doubt that it would outperform my Jeep if it was still stock. When stock my Jeep did not have the ground clearance, articulation, or approach angles of a Defender. Now with that being said, I am confident that my Jeep could outperform your land rover now and I haven't done anything crazy to it. It has significantly more power and torque than even the V8 model Defender from that time and it has a much better 4wd system. With my 3 inch lift on it, it can now fit beefier tires and articulate much better than a stock defender of any type. That's pretty impressive for a luxury SUV. I could sit in comfort and run circles around your land rover in my comfortable leather and wood interior. Also, living in the U.S. a Defender would cost exponentially more.
I love Defenders. This series is great, keep it going. :)
"steer for traction" *turns wheel left and right at mach 3*
I personally belive that the land rover defender is the best car in the world. it will always have a place in my heart
of course
I personally belive that the G class is more refined and it has a better built quality. And also in the G class factory they use more wax on the car then any other car company.
The best part, is the Discovery in the front haha

Went to that location the following year and didn't realise we had the same instructor until now, after rewatching your video. The guy was awesome!
nice video, wonderful Defener, I want it. +_+
I'm soo in love i was so in love with Range Rover fan but I'm so in love with defenders now they are gorgeous
Looked like a awesome fun filled learning day .go Land Rover defenders . Thanks for sharing . From Steve Stott in Sutherlin Oregon U.S.A.
Oh, man. Now I REALLY want one.
Simplicity at its best.....no more.....no less.....Defender
Cool video, landrover would have constructed that course knowing full well the capability of the landy to ensure there wasen't anythjng it couldn't handle with a little driving
Aus Tac and the water troughs are cement lined.

Yes, put a Porsche is useless in the snow.
@ 2:53 shot taken from top gear's piece on the range rover sport =p
why don't you two get a room lol seems like you in love with this machine
i love the defender too bro, amazing car
Props to the LR4 camera car in front!
which is the vehicle that precedes to defend? they should have one recording defend forward.
I love Defender from Chile
This has Mark's approval.
would have been good if you said if you switched from hi to low box and when

That made me want to go buy one of those.
What series of this defender?
More than likely a TD5
Awesome! I love the defender.
is there a new episode coming out about the Defender?
Well, can you tell me the name of the soundtrack music?
Tjeez, thumbs inside the steering wheel? Was the instructor asleep, or what?
Defender will always be a land Rover, ,luv that machine guys.
great video!
Can anyone ID the soundtrack at 4:50 ?
oh city boys thinking they are wheeling.... pretty funny. I like the manly hi five they did after the hill climb lol!
Get a load of Chuck Norris over here...
Do you high five your friends when your RC truck goes over a pebble?
Towelie You should of done better research kid... LOL! This is how we off road here in Oregon. I would love to see your manly man tackle these pebbles LOL!

The last sentences are great! :)
Bangelijken bak DEFENDER STILL RULES
One thing that did not make sense to me is that Discovery was able to go through the same path. Defender is suppose to be a better offroad, am i wrong? So perhaps they did not show all the potential of Defender or Discovery is just as good.
+Jane Gerrard Don't hate on my disco lol.
***** Yea, my father drove through Africa in a defender. So I love both of them.
That course is the minimum a defender is capable of traversing. A piece of cake or a walk in the park

Have traction control system
Good work!
Never had an experience like that, looks fun :D
Brilliant absolutely brilliant..
And i will be waiting patiently..
Try it with the traction control off?
Not traction control on that variant. All mechanical.
Nice one, and all true!
Looks fun! :D
is chassis stainless steel? :P
Not at all

True defender
Next time use Lada Niva and do this like it should be done!
Can we pretty please with sugar on top get this in the U.S?
+graveshaker unfortunately no. the last Defender rolled off the production line some days ago, and its the end of an amazing and long lifetime for this model :(
Why do you need instructor for that?I was doing that in my dads lada niva then i was 15!
Is Defender still illegal in the US? Last time I check it still is illegal.
I see loads of them in NY.
Must be over 25 years old I believe
super!!
That ain't a pickup truck its an suv
A [true] SUV.
Then what about the bed in the back?
Its not an SUV its an Offroad Vehicle.
It's a pick up with a canopy
Ain’t a truck it’s a Ute
Oh don’t spray that mud off
Holding your hands wrong on the steering wheel.
In the US there is no "training" for off roading, you get your truck and LET HER EAATTT!!!
Apart from the off rode training schools that is...
His thumbs are inside the steering wheel
Are you Irish?
]
No other like a defender
He looks exactly like Keanu Reeves.
how much is this car....😭😭😭my dream carr
too late its discontinued year or 2 ago, and it was quite cheap like 35k, but was illegal in the united states anyway, there are tons of defenders here though back from 70s 80s that you can get

Don't forget my Land rover..
Hahahahah, frickin 2k Nissan Xterra will do much more than this thing. But it is a sexy vehicle.
Where is the other reviewer with the glasses? I like him much more then this guy.
THE BEST SUV PERIOD!!! FINE AS F❤️❤️CK!

Harrison Conyers The Defender looks greater, is a better offroader and the better car for a expeditions. Best car ever= Defender
Harrison Conyers
I have a 26 year old Land Rover 90 which would outperform your "Grand Cherokeeee" whilst still parked in my garage.
John Smith The Land Rover Defender 90 is a very capable vehicle and is purpose built for off-road, and there is no doubt that it would outperform my Jeep if it was still stock. Might as well just get a Jeep Wrangler
No comparison. The Rubicon can compare, but the wrangler is trash until you mod it.
@@ghettomist1575 you are trash
.
BAH. All these Plastic Range Rovers, this is Real Shit.
Noobs, its called common sense.
www.carbuyer.co.uk/reviews/land-rover/defender/sports-utility-vehicle/review its not realy any less reliable than the toyota
Not worth watching D:
