I love your histories of East Anglia and I wish there was someone like you to do a similar thing in my home county of Lancashire. PS no need to apologise, each video is a gem, regardless of length
Thank you for this good presentation. It is refreshing to hear one without the sensationalism that is common with the media. There is too often speculation about wht could or would have happened, I find that ridiculous and think that people should focus on the facts and not the fantasy of cases, and you have done that. My congratulations, I have now subscribed hoping to find many more reports such as this.
It's good to cross my home boundaries of Essex legends, and add the Suffolk folk to them. A very informative and pictorial local history video of John Ducker. I also, always, enjoy your narrations. Thanks for sharing and greetings from France.
When I started I did think of covering Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex but I really don't feel I know the place well enough for that, I will probably expand when I run out of N/S stories.
I agree, I have to say I believe the theory that he probably pushed him, the officer lost his footing in the wet mud and hit his head and drowned, but with John being long known to the police he really didn't stand a chance.
Pushing someone into a river where they hit their head & drown is still murder. Every year someone somewhere gets into a fight, punches someone else who falls down & hits their head on the pavement & dies from brain injury. In the UK that's still murder.
That is very true, It just hard to tell how long a video will be before I start writing, I am also finding that crime/murder videos seem to do very well.
My mum used to work at the Ipswich Port Authority, which is very old and the old Police Station is on the Ground floor. The building is there to this day, but the Police have moved premises. Staff from the port were allowed to visit on one day each year, first come, first served. I always hoped my mum would put our names on the list. The year we did, I was mortified to see there was scaffolding covering the whole building (so it could be washed and repointed). Some Idiot workmen had covered the doors and windows and there was no safe way to get into the property. Just my luck!o
Is their anything what happened in Gorleston over the decades??? Love you’re local history...it’s always so beautiful how you make it sound so interesting, perfect...can’t wait for the future stories...🦊🐾🙏🙏🙏❤️
I have read in an old book about Ipswich, that the place of the scaffold was on the opposite side of St Helens Street to the Jail. But this hardly makes any difference to Mr.Ducker.
Even if Ducker had not intended to kill the constable, and only shoved him, and the constable had struck his head and then drowned, it was Ducker's attempted burglary and resisting arrest that caused the death of Tye. So Ducker was guilty of murder.
Unfortunately due to my past I find it very difficuĺ to trust the police. Sometimes things occur and after all the police are volunteers whose lives are precious but no more so other people. Respect is earned!
Honestly the kind of comments you get on the Facebook page for residents of my village I feel a lot of them would be right at home at a public hanging.
I really enjoy your local history videos. They're good, there's no need to apologise for them. Thank you.
No need to apologise. Your content is always interesting.
Another great story, always interesting,
Thank you sir.

I can only echo what others have said. Well done and thank you.
As usual, an excellent and entertaining presentation. Thank you.

This Essex boy, named Hockley, looks forward to it.
Transplanted to Sussex.
It does sound odd that a 62 year old man (old for those days) could win a fight with a 24 year old Police officer 🤔

Great stuff again 👍🏻 And no need to apologise, throwing short ones in regularly would probably do good things for your viewing stats 👍🏻

I will take a look into it.
My guess is some girl was stoned to death some time ago by the villagers. Either by Pagans or Puritans.
Hey matey, interesting as always, take care from an Australian watcher☮️🍀♥️
Great as always
Another great video. Happy Weekend to you :)
So interesting, thank you!

Short but sweet
Most interesting.
Many thanks.

Don't they say, " two wrongs never
a right make" ? Could just have well been manslaughter or self
defense, I suppose.
Well done. Thank you.
Your voice is great to listen to,,❤❤❤
Historical interest. Local for me.
Thank you.
👍
No, being poor does not necessitate stealing and robbing.
Where is the last place in suffolk for witch trials taken place ??
Why would he have lied? Because he always lied. That was his life and took it to his death.
Fair argument.
Tha's a rum old do oy'll say!

There's not been much to do in Suffolk since the hangings stopped - folks have had to make their own entertainment.
Honestly the kind of comments you get on the Facebook page for residents of my village I feel a lot of them would be right at home at a public hanging.
@@alittlebitofhistory In the audience, or as participants?
@@andrewemery4272 mostly audience but some would be try to be 1st in line if volunteer hangmen were needed.
