I'm with you my friend, have a '19 Z06/Z07 LZ3 Artic White with Torch Red interior and chrome wheels, it attracts more attention than my Porsche Turbo S. I love it, but I have to admit the Porsche is twice the car, but also twice the money.
You have a great platform for modifications and you will love everyone of them; however, saving money in buying a Grand Sport over a Z06 to have money to modify it is only part of the picture. It takes quite a few mods to equal the Z06's performance, but the difference will come when you sell it, a pristine stock Z06 will draw more money than a modified Grand Sport of equal performance.
1 thing. Insurance premium (for us 30 ish year olds) in California at least. I pay 800 a year for the non c7 z06 full coverage. Low miles. A c7 Z06 would be around 2500 a year. Add the 20k price premium plus interest (for us poor folk that finance cars)... all that money i didn't spend went in my pocket and I still have a sick af fast triple back c7 vette. 😍 and she's paid off already :) on to the next one.

If you can afford a Z06 especially a Z07 carbon package GET IT! Add your 3k or so and enjoy 625+ at the tires. I’m not saying 460 at the crank isn’t fun, but....

Hey Scott, great video. Let's face it, it was meant to be. My situation with my 2019 Grand Sport was very similar. Saw it online, went and drove it, and bought it. They're absolutely, amazing vehicles.

It is now recommended that you also wipe down all the food & liquid containers you purchased when you get home. Glass, cans, plastic etc. Additionally, remove your shoes before entering one's homes since the Virus is airborne and does, or will settle on all surfaces after a period of time. Me too Scott. It is with a sad pen that I scratched out my April 4th note/reminder that I had on my calendar in big BOLD RED letters as to us all gathering for the first Meet Up of the 2020 driving season. I was pushing hard to have my Stage 2 Mods completed and it was done! Now with the current environment we're in, I've decided to continue on with Mods Stage 2.5. Maybe I'll ask Matty to do a short upload of a walk around of Ms. Ruby so you can get an idea of what's been done. Maybe you, Justin, Dave, JT and Matty can come up with an idea as to how we can all do electronic Meet Ups through the wonderful World of Wizardry. We could start with everyone just submitting pics to you and you could announce a specific upload date to watch where you run through/show everyone's submitted rides? You could even do a "Judged Show Meet Up" where you guys are the judges!? In the meantime, I already have Mods Stage 3.0 on the drawing boards, but I would be totally satisfied of not being able to implement same until late fall because we'll all be too busy meeting up with one another. Save the Wave🙋🏼♂️

I fully agree with your decision. I was lucky enough to find a new 2lz 2019 z06, 2 months ago. It’s perfect, however winter is the current problem. I have no plans for performance mods. Just took delivery 4 days ago. Drove it 9kms to the detailer for a full wrap and ceramic coating. Can’t wait till it’s done. Stay safe!!

I own a 2017 C7ZO6 artic white and I have roughly 5 coats of wax on it due to winter months and just enjoy detailing it over n over n over LOL, but look forward to warmer weather and get out there and enjoy the rawwww Power and endless torque

What is your camera set up? What did you use in the garage and what did you use inside the car? Both look like perfect set ups.
Thanks for the kind words! I was using a GoPro Hero 7 in the garage at 2.7K and 30fps. The main in-car camera was Sony a6400 with the 16-50 kit lens at 4K and 30fps. This is funny, because I usually use the Sony in the garage and GoPro in the car. If you check out some of my recent install vids, you can see the Sony at work too.
@@Team512 I appreciate the detailed response. I have been saving up for my Z06 for the past year and I'll be ready to put down half here in a few weeks. I want to start out the gate making high-quality content - I'd be thrilled if I can get my channel to grow big enough to pay for insurance and tires. I have a Canon 60D DSLR and 2 GoPro Hero 8s. I wish the DSLR filmed in 4K, but it's too old. Do you have it suction cupped to your passenger window and a "deadcat" over a microphone? So you were using your GoPro in the grocery store too?
@@kobyspurgin Congrats on saving up for the Z06! You're going to love that beast. All of the C7's are killer cars man. Yes I was using the GoPro in the grocery store and I typically have a dead cat on my mics, especially if I'm outside. The 60D is a solid camera. In fact, once TH-cam compresses your video, it can be difficult to discern 1080p from 4K. Focus on the audio.

Having the dilemma of whether to get an 18 or 19 GS now or a 17 z06. I want specific colors and options and with thr market now it's been extremely difficult to find something that I want that doesn't sell within 10 minutes. I hope I'll be enjoying a c7 as much as you are one day soon.

Are those paddle shifters on your steering wheel? Your car sounds like a manual; do they do something else, or does Chevy just leave them in when they build them?
Great question! Yes my car is a manual. Those paddles are the on/off switches for the auto rev match feature in manual cars.

I have a 2019 GS convertible. Love the car so much! Have thought about possibility of adding super charger at some point, but for now very happy with the stock performance. Do you have a specific super charger in mind for yours? Curious what you are thinking. BTW, my car is 3LT as well, and I can completely relate to what you are saying. I absolutely LOVE being inside my car! Be safe out there!
The 3LTs are something special. I didn’t really understand it until I sat in my GS for the first time. I’ve been around and around on a supercharger. At the end of the day, I might just go with an LT4 blower from a Z06. I like the stock look, the moderate power output, the price and just like a top mounted PD blower over the centrifugal blowers. 550rwhp is perfect for the street. Although, like you, I’m enjoying the stock performance as well. Especially with the AWE exhaust. Stay safe.
On the exhaust topic... So far, I am super happy with the exhaust notes that the stock exhaust puts out. In your opinion, does upgrading the exhaust really make that much of a difference? Like I said, I love how the exhaust sounds stock, so I find it really hard to believe that it could be improved that much (but I know there are a TON of people out there that do it, so apparently so). Just curious your thoughts and comments on that!
The stock exhaust note is very good, and I liked the NPP functionality. Although I found myself keeping the exhaust in 'Track' almost exclusively. After touring the AWE HQ and riding in their Grand Sport equipped with their Xpipe and Touring Axle Back I knew I had to have it installed on my car. If you are happy with the stock exhaust, keep it. But at least in my experience, adding the AWE system has woken up the beast! I enjoy driving the car much more now. It feels like it pulls harder (butt dyno I'm sure) and breathes better. But the biggest gain is the smile on my face when downshifting and hearing all the pops and burbles. Oh yeah, banging through the gears is much more fun!

I greatly appreciate your input on this. I will certainly keep it in mind! For the time being, I spent 50 bucks and installed the mild to wild switch. At least this way I can have the drive mode in whatever mode I want but still have the exhaust valves wide open! I even figured out a pretty sweet spot to install the remote! Beautiful car. I'm really considering a c7 gs. I'm thinking slightly used (under 10k miles). However, after watching all the c8 videos of people racing them right off the lot, I'm kind of skeptical about buying used. I don't wanna get something that may have problems later on due to not observing the break-in instructions. Thoughts?
Thanks man! My advice is to look for the lowest mileage, non-modded C7 with service records and a warranty if you're concerned about previous owners. It doesn't guarantee the car wasn't abused, but gives you a better picture. I'd also suggest looking at the tires. If they were replaced, did the previous owner "cheap out" or did they replace them with the factory Michelins or something comparable. Then look at the basic wear items, including the clear coat. If it's they're in great shape, then the owner may have taken care of all aspects of the car to the same level. The C7 drivetrains, especially those with the M7 are very strong in stock form. You could also consider a pre-purchase inspection from an independent shop to give you more confidence. They are incredible cars. I hope it works out for you. Stay healthy!

The N/A Vette in the track body is perfect. I chose GS over the z06 and had budget for the Z. It's the same car....just depends on motor. If u want more lower for whatever...do it up. Buy to me the N/A was perfect. Can really get on it and has loads of power. Added upgraded cold air intake and full Corsa extreme exhaust system...and it's the perfect spot for the chassis and sound.
You point out one of the major things about the GS...you can really get on it without running out of room in the twisties! And they look great and sound great all while keeping a bit more change in your pocket! Thanks for the comment. Stay healthy!

I have first hand experience with your GS and other non 3LT C7s. That 3LT interior is like being in a different car with how nice it is. We could all use more power in our Vettes, but the controllable power makes it fun without puckering up tighter than a snare drum 😲🥁.
Thanks man! Yeah the 3LT with the Jet Black Suede Interior is on another level. It’s easier to add power than to mod the interior to this level. I’m ok with sacrificing the warranty...until something drastic happens. 😂😂😂

Like you, I really wanted a Z06 but wasn't willing to compromise on all the options I was looking for and an optioned out Z06 just wasn't in the budget. So last year, I picked a 2017 Admiral Blue 2LT GS instead. I swore I wasn't going to sink too much money into it in terms of mods as I eventually want to get a C8 but so far I am not doing a good job with that. 🤣
The GS really is a phenomenal car. I still get excited to take it for a drive. The mod bug is real! Admiral Blue was my 2nd choice. Love that color on a GS.

Taking the Grand Sport and adding some power to it is definitely the smarter way to go. You can customize exactly how much power is added all while getting exactly what you wanted on the interior and exterior. You did the right thing, imo.

I'm assuming you're talking about paddle shifting the auto trans? I say go for it. Give it a try.

Frank White I would try them while making low rpm shifts at first so you get used to the feel. The car does have a rev limiter to prevent over running redline.
The good thing about these new transmissions with the paddles they are idiot proof. Normal driving just shift up around 2k. Learn from there. Downshifting to a stop light just tap it once or twice you'll feel the engine as the rpms shoot up and you are slowing down. Either shift up or down the computer will not let you if it's not efficient for the motor or the transmission. So you will not hurt it by playing around. Also I do not have a newer Corvette but have a Camaro with the 6l80 tuned
