Hi Thomas, I drive the 2019 Veloce Ti carbon nero package. Your review is fair to the car and as you say no change to the looks of it from the outside as I love how it looks plus how people turn when you drive by. The handling is amazing, sharp and light versus to my previous BMW 330Ci. As for the interior, I agree the new Audi cockpit looks amazing, but I bought this car because of its driving pleasure not to look and play with digital screens. I will agree the touch screen is a welcome addition but it was not my main concern when buying this car and actually I prefer using the dial to control the infotainment system, I feel it is safer to use while driving rather than trying to point and touch buttons on a screen while at speed. Fuel efficiency is actually good when driven in Advance Efficiency on motorways, I get an average of 8.8l/100km. City driving in N I get around 10.4l/100 and in D which is so much fun can be between 13 to 14/100. I have driven 22,000kms and it is reliable, smooth and I always have a smile on my face when I drive her so it was my best decision to get this car! Thanks Alfa!!!
I am on my 2nd lease. We had a 2017, now we have a 2019 Veloce with nero package. These are fantastic cars. I had a BMW 325 inbetween the two Giulias and I sold it. It was no Alfa Romeo! Buyers would buy many more of these, if they just test drive them. They are fabulous Made in Italy sports sedans at an affordable price.
I drive a 2019 2.2 190 CV executive, and another brand Suv. Everytime i come back my alfa, I become happy again. No other cars are so exciting to drive, with very very high comfort level. IMHO, the marketing didn't support enough the market success of this amazing vehicle.
My Ti Sport / Veloce has been more reliable than my last two Audis and much more fun to drive in the 20K miles I've had it. It's a joy to operate in basically any situation and the seats and shift paddles in particular feel like they're out of something that costs six figures. The Q4 is also epic in the winter.
In my opinion is just awesome, finally a sedan with the right weight and engines. I mean 280 HP 5.1 from 0 to 100kmh...nothing to do with the old Alfa’s!!!
Good review Thomas, hopefully the tech and interior quality improvements bring more people into the brand and Giulia becomes a genuine contender against the German rivals!
I think most of your critiques are of a personal perspective? Aside from the larger turning radius of the 4WD, a rear bias is preferable and expected from a RWD platform. Engine sounds are great. Who wants the entire neighborhood to be on notice? That includes the police! Also, many places have enforceable noise ordinance included with the issued speeding ticket! 😲 Although, that wouldn't stop me personally from acquiring it in a "QV" iteration though. Overall, here in northeastern America the Q4 is well welcomed if it's going to be a daily driver? Finally.. there's a real serious alternative to the commonly seen German cars everyone seems to be driving here. From my experience, the German cars are no more reliable than any other's pricewise, sadly to say. The Guilia brings Italian flare and bargin where there was only cookie cutter options available!
I have the 2020 RWD 280 HP in Florida. Bought the base with 19 in staggered Pirelli tires, msrp 43k, but a huge discount off . Alfa white color with red interior . Absolutely a blast to drive .
Another time when I've been glad for this channel and the work they do, I needed to get information on the differences between prefacelift and facelift Giulia, in 20 minutes I can know pretty much everything I need to know!
I have a 2019 TI Sport Q4 in Montecarlo Blue (this is equivalent to the Veloce trim in Europe). Pros: * Premium feel * dangerously good looks * great acceleration/pick-up * beautiful cabin (I have the tan leather. it's a nice contrast to the exterior color). The steering setup is great, although the wheel could be a bit thicker (looks like that's been fixed for 2020). * unique. You don't see many of them in comparison to German competitors. * Front seating is great; sport seats are supportive and comfortable Cons: * Wind noise from sun/moon roof is loud * sensitive batteries (these batteries will throw codes sometimes). * Infotainment system is better in German rivals. * not as compact as something like a 3 series and at the same time back legroom is limited. I own this exact car (color and engine) and if I were to buy it again and had the same money, I probably would. I love it, it drives like a sports car and feels very very special. Sure, the infotainment isn't great and some plastics are a bit underwhelming, but if you want driving pleasure, it ticks many boxes, in my own opinion more than any 2.0L BMW. However, if I had more money than I did, I would have probably stretched to a 240i, just because of the engine. If you can live with 2.0L noise and ~5.5s to 100, the Alfa is clearly more special and rare. If you want a better engine and performance (and a better infotainment, sadly) go for a 3.0L BMW.
@@Roadjull more reason for Alfa to introduce a mid-Range 300+ HP model configuration. I think this would've made an even bigger splash against the German competition. The limitations of having only two engine options in the U.S. IMO are what have kept it from making bigger in roads into the market.

Regarding Giulia, it's a pity that Alfa has not spent enough money for its promotiion, so even 3 years after its launch, it still remains completely unknown to the majority of potential buyers of this segment. It's always been a great looking car. The colour is nice too. Much more elegant than the BMW 3 Series or Audi A4. However, as is common in new cars, far too much bright or brushed aluminium interior trim (particularly the steering wheel and centre console). Manufacturers should reevaluate the use of touchscreens. A simple knob (or actual buttons) would suffice.
Good review, Beautiful car. Just a point - you are so tall that you are going to be space-challenged in most European sedans. It does appear that Alfa has another real winner here in this car. Best. Respect.
when is Alfa adding Race mode to Veloce? its ridiculous that the germans have that functionality to disable DTC at the touch of the button but only 510hp Giulia QV has that? I went from bmw 330d which i loved to Alfa Giulia Veloce 2017 with performance package and not regretting for a second, although more demanding than bmw on the small roads just like you said.
Italian and French cars are always outstanding (not always in a positive sense like the Fiat Multipla). With the 3 Mazda has managed it to combine that Italian-like design with Japanese engineering.

xenon in 2020 🤦♂️ Alfa can't ask for a premium price and do stuff like this. There are cars 2 segment bellow this gulia and non premium with more advanced lights. How come they didn't ask customers for that?!
Neighbor has one, it is such a cheap-looking car in person. It's too bad they did not rework the front, old Alfas are so beautiful it makes me sad every time I see it. I think it's all the phony plastic: fake outlets, cheap black plastic grill, and especially the fake rear haunches. Keep it functional, not pretend. Edit: The user of plastics is necessary for pedestrian safety, I understand that. It's about the bubbles, creases, and fake parts automakers are doing with it.
@Alex S. I'm not really talking about build quality (since I have no way of knowing how that is in my neighbor's car!) It's more about the bends and styling that are only possible with plastics. It screams "I'm made of plastic!" German cars are better about that whatever their other flaws may be. Plastic is a wonderful material, but carmakers should consider if they *should* do things just because it's *possible*.
@@joa8593 Dude, if there is ONE thing all reviewers agree on it's the fact that it looks stunning in person. All owners (including myself) will also tell you it's often a conversation piece with random admirers at gas stations. So it's just you and maybe 3 other guys, I'm afraid.
I love this car & this is a fabulous review, thank you. One thing I've noted in newer vehicle reviews is the near ubiquitous mention of Alcantara. So..I looked it up to see what all of the fuss is about. Apparently, not much, really. Alcantara is composed of about 68% polyester and 32% polyurethane, giving increased durability and stain resistance. The appearance and tactile feel of the material is similar to that of suede, and it may be erroneously identified as such.
Thanks and thanks for following too! Yes indeed, artificial material, you can also use recyclables to produce it, way less harm to animals, humans and environment in production. The animal leather industry first threatened and later tried to buy me out because I recommend more sustainable materials. See more here if you are interested: th-cam.com/video/nP_CvLlaFlI/w-d-xo.html
@@autogefuel You're welcome! You make a fine point, indeed. I do miss the old days of natural fibers, less out gassing into the vehicles cabin, but yeah, using animal hides has become a bit of a caveman thing, lol. Very outmoded. That is interesting how the leather folks actually wanted to buy you out to remove your voice! That's a bit crazy. I'll save the link you supplied here for later, thank you.
@@autogefuel You also must realise that all these electric cars being made are vastly worse for the planet than any diesel or petrol car . The energy it takes alone to make them and the batteries , the rare earth metals , and the after effects of all those batteries . it seems the tried to copy the BMW looks.
my opinion is that the new 3 series from bmw is the best mid-size sedan in this time.
No way.
@@thomasferrarojr.9772 why ?
I don't find this car nice looking at all.
You must be the odd one out
xenon in 2020 🤦♂️ Alfa can't ask for a premium price and do stuff like this. There are cars 2 segment bellow this gulia and non premium with more advanced lights. How come they didn't ask customers for that?!
There wasn't yet a moment in 2 years of driving this car when I said to myself "boy, whish I had LEDs over xenons now..."
I believe they are gorgeous in person.
What an odd take. These things are gorgeous in person.
@@tomgaydos9128 I think if you've seen the older Alfas with the simple metal delta grill and then see this plastic toy, it changes your perception.
@Alex S. I'm not really talking about build quality (since I have no way of knowing how that is in my neighbor's car!)
It's more about the bends and styling that are only possible with plastics.
Wow OMG Beautiful CAR Alfa Romeo Giulia 🇮🇹🏆👑🔝💎
I'll save the link you supplied here for later, thank you.
thanks m8 !
@@autogefuel You're welcome!
@@autogefuel You also must realise that all these electric cars being made are vastly worse for the planet than any diesel or petrol car . The energy it takes alone to make them and the batteries , the rare earth metals , and the after effects of all those batteries . Its just as big of a con as this covidBS tyrannical takeover we are all living through now .
