    Just a suggestion. If that is the mica blue you can use silver leaf first and then put the mica blue on top. it makes the color a little brighter but shine so much more even without a clear over it. It seems to make all the mica colors just beautiful.

    Thank you for sharing this wonderful video!!!
    This is exactly how I paint my kits, a Japanese friend of
    mine taught me the basics on how to use paint from a
    spray can.
    Tamiya has the best model hobby paint, both bottle and
    spray can!! Mr. Hobby comes in second place for me, I
    use Mr. Hobby paints as well.
    They are both excellent quality paint products!!

    I use Future(brand name) floor polish for clear coating. It's a lot cheaper then model paint and you can wash it off if you mess it up if you do it before it completely hardens.

    • @TheScalemodelingChannel
      @TheScalemodelingChannel  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For smaller parts, you can do without. But the bigger parts it is better to use primer, it fills in small scratches and creates a better surface for the paint to adhere to.

    Tamiya website says to never use their rattle cans on plastic kits which cuts out most of their products, and yet you seem to have handled it perfectly. Just want to confirm with you that Tamiya rattle can paint and primer are okay to use on a Tamiya 1/24 kit before making any purchases.

I'm going for pearl white on the R32 Nismo Custom kit, would you recommend going with the pearl white paint and a standard clearcoat or standard white paint and pearl clear? I’m going to have to 100% disagree with you about not being able to get a glossy finish with cans. The reason YOU can’t get a glossy flat finish is your technique. First mistake was your second and third colour coats should wet coats. When you said to quickly mist on the final colour coat I cringed. All you did was add texture, taking away from the flatness. Your clear coating, the first one should be a mist coat and the rest should be slow and wet. Any dry spot will become textured. If the clear coats are sprayed wet the finish should be very glossy. You just might have orange peal from the high pressure of the cans. For cars I actually prefer to use canned clear because of how much sprays out.

    • @TheScalemodelingChannel
      @TheScalemodelingChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aah ok, thats a different story indeed.
      The basic idea behind this is as follows:
      The bond between the tape and paint is stronger then the bond between the paint and the body.
      In this case the stronger bonds wins, resulting in the paint peeling off of the body along with the paint.
      You need to sand the body before you apply primer, i and with 600 grit. After this you can apply paint, or sand the primer with 1000 grit for the paint to stick better. If this is all done correctly the paint should not peel off with the tape.

    I just cant seem to get good results out of Tamiya rattle cans. I prime and gently sand, maintain proper times between coats, shake and roll the ball bearing for 1-2 minutes AND heat the can; I always start away from the piece and trail in and keep the nozzle clean, and I STILL get speckled, bumpy gloss colours. What could I possibly be doing wrong?

      +The Scalemodeling Channel It is true if I say that when the can is running gout I should stop using it because it would start spraying larger painting particle? cuz this is what happens to me. • @TheScalemodelingChannel
      @TheScalemodelingChannel  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I sand the entire body for adhesion. The primer can grab on to the surface better when its sanded. Maybe shake it more or heat it up in some hot water before spraying.

    Using automotive paint will it damage the plastic?

      Tamiya is not automotive paint. Though automitive paint would not damage the plastic if the correct plastic primer is used.

      Thanks for your reply, what plastic primer do you recommend?

      From the same brand as the rest of the paint you would use for color and clear prefferably

    Thanks for making this series! How long should I wait between applying the color coats and putting on decals?

      Spray booth and tack cloth is all i have to say :P This seems to work for me, Youll always have 1 or 2 but by using a good tack cloth and a good spray booth it gets rid of a lot of dust.

    Hello, Great Video.
    I have a problem with tamiya spray can (TS-8), I get orange peel when applying the red Color, I tried to get close to the model, but I get the orange peel.
    I see orange peel even in the first mist coat, Really light as suggested
    Could it be because the paint is too old? (maybe 4 year since I bought it?)
    I heat the can in hot water as suggested , any suggestions? Could it be better if I apply it with airbrush

      +Jesus Gonzalez That is normal. Maybe you should shake the can a bit longer or heat it up before using it with some hot water.

      Hello, thank you for your answer.
      I decant it and apply it with airbrush, the orange peel was reduce significantly (90%), I will use a 3000 sand to eliminate the rest of the orange peel and then apply the ts-13 clear cote.
      Regards

    I get a fantastic shiny coat out of the Dupont clear coat that I use. Most of the time no polishing is needed. Unless you want too! Very shiny! Anybody wants to know what kind I use send me a message....thanks!

    Why tf do you not give out the Tamiya Codes for the primer, colour and clear coat?
