    Hey Everyone,
    Today, we're going to show you how to install Front Mount Intakes by VRSF on your S55 M2 Competition, M3, or M4. Due to the nature of the installation, you will need to do some minor trimming of the plastics behind your grille, but other than that, it's fairly easy upgrade.
    Here's a link to the intake:

    Looks like these more disrupt the airflow to the radiators than provide that much more air to the engine. I would really want to know how those filters work also as they can not be easily changed.

    Those grilles will be the most PITA part for anyone thinking about this. I hate the snapping tabs on those things. You might want to consider taking the whole bumper off to avoid breaking the grilles.

  • @rajjy1976

    Once installed, I’d imagine removing the kidney grills using the same method used in this video becomes a no no, as the filter cones are blocking access to the release clips along the bottom edge.

    • @desiredfilm1071
      @desiredfilm1071 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      rajjy1976 I feel like all that wear and tear on the kidney grilles would lead to the plastic clips giving out at some point. Changing the filter, that is

    • @SOMNIOHM
      @SOMNIOHM 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is a reply geared toward both this first comment and the reply from @DesiredFilm ...
      The kidney grills do become a slight bit more difficult to remove once the intakes are installed and you have everything put back/popped back into place! ... BUT... IT IS STILL DOABLE fairly easily in fact because once you have them off and have the feel for how simply straightforward they literally pop in and out you dont even need to see it to do it. VS just a video visual representation of "what its like".. ALSO... Id like to add that unless you are driving on a dirty track weekend after weekend OR in a sandy/dusty environment .. ie.. a freakin' desert or something, you will hardly everrrrr have to service this style of air filter! They last an extremely long time and although some people would straight up laugh at this and say "goodluck bro, your fixin' to kill your motor or a turbo"..
      I have literally LIGHTLY pressure washed off the bugs that were adheased to the front of my filter.. I then blew the water through it via air compressor. If you then let the car idle for 45-60 minutes it will get hot enough that it will evaporate nearly all moisture/WATER that could/would be sitting inside the cone of the filter! It is not until you really step on it or go full send while driving that there is then mass suction created to where moisture water would then get pulled in through the intake and into the motor. (so for any goons reading this who feel like saying this is ridiculous... just save it!). This is honestly the 2nd BEST "intake design" for the F8X M3/M4 platform. BMW should have done this from the factory however I know that they did not due to some more strict Cali. carb restrictions or some bs along those lines. "off road use only" lol.
      IF you were curious.. I know 2 owners with heavily modified F82's who have raced in monsoon conditions with the front mount intakes. Neither of their motors have ever shown any damage, and they have never reported any problems due to inhaling a particle of any kind (water/dirt/dust/snow etc)..
      LASTLY, the absolute best and number one "Intake design" that BMW SHOULD HAVE DONE from the factory but did not, would basically be what Dinan/aFe and a few others have done by utilizing a larger surface area filter and box that is sealed. This is done because through further testing and reports, many people have experienced horrific heatsoak when using the basic open cone filter systems that just sit under the hood without being in a box, a sealed box or best yet, the aFe with the open box but sealed sides that completely seals once the hood is closed. There is/are good reason why BMW did not choose to incorporate these designs from factory. Best guess and main reason is the bs CARB restrictions in some states like Cali.
      In any case.. I still love my front mounted setup. Most people say its just a shame they cost thousands but, ... you get what you pay for!
      I have the RK, and the custom titanium intake setup is just not for everybody, I get it..IT IS FOR ME THOUGH!!! =)

  • @TheAlextv100
    @TheAlextv100 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    So, once that plastic inner piece gets cut to fit the pipe, is it replaceable or is it a part of a larger plastic piece?
    I would imagine that returning to stock could be slightly hindered, because putting back the soft rubber and the plastic “door” would have one side that’s been cut into and expanded.
