47 here and it's still one of the best OST's I've ever heard...and sonny, I've played too many games in my life, too many. This is timeless music, truly.
The setting on this stage was brilliant. It was like something out of a dream. I think the fact that the trees descended into darkness off the mountain really helped to add an element of mystery and intrigue to what could have otherwise been just a "normal mountain." This song and stage were perfectly married.
"WHAT?!" "YOU!!!" "HEY!!!" LOL. This game was so amazing, and this godly piece of music here is just memorable. The guitar is to die for. Depresses me that the franchise hasn't had a good sequel in such a long time.
***** I just don't get this. Rescue the captive ninja was based around the very worst parts of the game. Spawning in a forest where you need to play 4 or 5 times to not be instantly detected unfairly. Later goes on to have pointless confusing map design. And this level was incredibly bad, being a straight linear map which was focused on the crappy combat.
Rainbow Dashtruction I also really hated those pitfalls in Resue the Captive Ninja. This level got really bad when you got near the water fall. Enemies can see you really easily.
***** Not to mention it ends with the hardest boss in the game, when your not practiced enough to fight him well, and after its the longest level in the game to finish.
I was born in 1994 , and now I am 22 years old. I was fortunate to play many PS1 Titles ( Including Tenchu ) in 1999 and 2000. I think these songs will remain embedded in our hearts and in our memories for a lifetime.
Pfftt...you said it. No game industry bullshit like today. Still, I believe it would've been the same back then as today; the technology simply wasn't there to make possible all that you mentioned. With limited computing power back then, games _had_ to be good!
they have to remake the game with the same guy who produced the music. what the hell happened to Sony computer entertainment Japan in general ? they had the best games on early PlayStation platform
Fuck that one guard on the mountain side who you couldn't get a stealth kill on because the animation made Rikimaru walk off the edge to his death! Beautiful piece though.
That music is so powerful. Just by itself, without any narrativ script or dialog, it makes you feel bad for the princess and makes you doubts and fear for the safety of this child. Making you, in the process, more invested into the mission. Particularly the part starting at 01:15 is amazing to this melancholic, sad ambience... All this even though, the princess is really just a very secondary character of the game. It really is a music score full of emotion.
No, I never give a fuck about the princess, let along worry about her. The power in this music came from the creepy beginning part that matches perfectly with the dark and narrow path leading up to the hill. At 01:20 the emotion turns passionated and the slaughter of the enemies was the most rewarding part while killing all the way to the submit.
Im amazed how such simple & vintage PS1 game had such a magnificent OST. I was like 17 when playing it, now I'm 38 & it still hits my feelz & touches my soul ❤
I was in the 6th grade when playing this masterpiece for the first time. I remember couldn't get past the first level (evil merchant) because I was so used to hack and slash games so I kept dying haha
Tenchu by now deserves a remake of the game with more detail and stealth mechanics and improved sword play.... the only thing that doesn't need improving is it soundtrack.
Except he doesn't die. One of the later games shows he (for some reason or another) teleports through time into the present day, kills a gang boss and then a break in the time stream brings him back. Also I believe it IS canon as I think Rikimaru is your teacher in Tenchu Z.
Fire Dragon K That kind of takes away from the emotional impact of the ending. And seems pretty indicative of the problems which plagued every single sequel to the game - the story simply became too fantastic, and lost the charm of the original. The black and white, Akira Kurosawa-esque opening, the mournful soundtrack, the simple story tying in elements of Japanese culture and history. The Tenchu series became a gigantic, bloated mess. I'd love to see it be given a spiritual successor, but completely removed of the supernatural nonsense.
I can understand your view. Tenchu,1 although clunky by todays standards is awesome and that soundtrack is timeless. I do admit though his present day level was fun to do lol If possible for you I do recommend picking up Tenchu Z however, but sometime in the future if someone could do a remastered Tenchu 1 that would be interesting.
When I hear this I think about a girl I met, her beauty she and I used to take long walks on cool crisp nights in the moonlight and this music reminds me of one night we sat next to each other by a cozy fire. How we fell in love
I like tenchu 1 and 3 (ive played them all) .this has to be the best track in the game and the stage just love it ,tho the onikage battle theme is cool also. hope they bring a new game for the ps4.
@modewr For me, yes. Mainly for nostalgia purposes. I still love the fact my dad let me play this back then and always denies it. I guess if I wasn't bias I would say Tenchu Z had good design so I guess others will consider it best for the graphics, levels, fast pacing, storyline? & I guess customisability of the main character (which isn't that big) and that Tenchu 2 does upgrade a lot of things (except for the music, the graphics and the difficulty, no boss in 2 can compare to Lord Mei-Oh).
Yo de niño siempre pensé que los enemigos de este stage eran una especie de apaches lo cual no le encontraba ningún sentido, hasta que ya de adulto me vengo enterando que eran tengus
@ClaudioDK1989 100% Agreed, well, I think this IS the game that got me into gaming, amazing music, I liked the eerie graphics and the addrenalin of sneaking around watching out for enemies and battling the amazing Demon Shadow (Onikage). It was superb and the series will hopefully continue the Tenchu style...well...ignore Tenchu Z...that game just felt, odd.
In this level, I had to work a bit harder to keep stealthy... Those mountain demons had such high health, and did a little more damage in their attacks than regular enemies. And the terrain was tricky in some parts.
No dlc,no season pass, no pre-order..no toxic community
Perfect ost, perfect game, perfect times.
oh man... spot on
Yes, never have I enjoyed a game as much as I did Tenchu 1.
天誅 忍凱旋 的時代 真香
AAAAAAAMEEEEN.
SO right you are. after PS2 I stopped gaming.
I was 18 & now I am 38 but still hear this song damn this game & music never gets old what a masterpiece
Screw the muddy orchestrals of today, memorable and bold instrumental solos like this are the real gaming music.
8 YEARS NOW 21 XD COME ON REMAKE PC GAMER FULL QUALITY, COME ONIKAGE ET FIGHT ME MY OLD FRIEND
Hey!, same age here lol. Also a fan of the Tenchu OST.

I'm glad bro
The most beautiful track in the game ^^
+Sniper Wolf especially that acoustic part..but hey, whole soundtrack was amazing anyway..
I can't agree more. If they ever make a movie this should be the main theme
in the games*
Totally agree!
Solid T dude no one cares
I want a Tenchu: Stealth Assassins remastered so bad 😭
With original music, yes.
@@nickdragon4565 Yes, 100% agree

Fun fact: we were going to have another tenchu game

Tenchu got the best soundtrack ever . I really love their music

"WHAT?!" "YOU!!!" "HEY!!!"

The grand old days of the PS1 ..
I was glad to be a part of it 🙂
This forest stage was just amazing, leaves falling and climbing that mountain. Epic!
Wait, people actually like this level? It was like, the shittiest mission in the game by a longshot.
This level and resue captive ninja are tied for me.
***** I just don't get this. Rescue the captive ninja was based around the very worst parts of the game. lots of flaws in this game
Antonio Montana I so agree with you there! ✌💯✌
His name Noriyuki Asakura.
Really amazing music he done
Ikr? Tenchu 1 had best sound track
I really want to become a little boy again haha... i really love this game... rikimaru and ayame you are my ultimate idol
Sekiro literally has a stage where you climb a mountain and get a flower on the edge of the top..
It's so sad that the music in Sekiro was not nearly as beautiful or remarkable as this, but it is a wonderful game
So does rdr2 with the Native American
@@Lunaria.Praesentia Sekiro is a very well made game, but I would still rather play Tenchu. Crazy, right?
Nothing crazy TENCHU 1 is overall way better game.
Sekiro... yeah... 🙄
this song brings back some good memories

I played as Ayame so I could do stealth killing just fine..
ROFL

listening now, first time I've felt any emotion in a while. seriously moving music...
My favorite track in this game. So many childhood memories. :)
for me, the best song Noriyuki Asakura ever made
This is so heroic music, Dreadful mission but he do this for the princess.
One of the best song i ever heared , it's remind me of my childhood :/
One of the very best pieces of music I've ever heard in a game.
One of the first songs I learned when I began classical guitar training. Love this til this day.
Same here.
with todays graphic technology, Tenchu has amazing potential
as an open world game set in 16th-century azuchi Era - Japan.

This entire soundtrack is one of the greatest. Totally on another level.
when i first played this game i was just a little kid,and i find deep in my heart the good memories it brings
I can still remember those square tree's and the random pointy terrain like it was yesterday.
Best soundtrack, best mission and best Tenchu. I wanna play it again!🔝
What a beautiful tune, so relaxing...
the game that got me into video games and became my first love
Know what's so sad about this track? It's basically a remixed version of 'Faraway' when RIkimaru dies. It's kind of hinting what happens :(
Except he doesn't die. One of the later games shows he (for some reason or another) teleports through time into the present day, kills a gang boss and then a break in the time stream brings him back.

uuf Thanks for this, man so many years with this music in my head was sounding different now

Its quite easy actually. Mayor scale for the lead parts and the only strummed are A minor and E minor. Just in case you want to play it.
