@@carmiethompson2676 -- In the video, they said 400 miles on a 39 gallon tank, so the math works out to a hair over 10 mpg. (This didn't sound like an "official" rating, so it is unclear how it will differ between highway and city driving.)

You don’t have to spend 400 Grand for that truck. You can drive them for free, just raise your right hand and join the US Army. Ours came with 50 Cals and machine guns. Also free of charge. AATW!

@@jameson1239Raise your left arm and join the Marines, we have the same vehicles as Army's MATV's and JLTV's but we have a much cooler vehicle than the army, we have LAV-25 which is an 8x8 vehicle with a 25mm chain gun plus M240 machine gun AND it can swim, how cool is that? It's fully amphibious.
Also you get a way better looking uniform (which is a ladies magnet) and you earn the title of a Marine. 😂

A buddy of mine bought an LMTV (Stewart and Stevenson) got it all nice and running. Sweet truck. One of his biggest kicks is when at home depot, or where ever, and guys come up and ask about it, invariably the subject of F350s, Hummers etc comes up. He loves to say: "Yeah those F350s are sweet little pick ups. I got one for my wife!" LMAO...I told him he was a prick.

It’s definitely better than those JLTVS. Plenty of Cargo space plenty of troop capacity you could use it for anything practically. JLTVs lack cargo capacity and you can’t even put casualties or wounded in them. This vehicle is what the military should be using.
Ford Diesels aren't that bad
If the emgine or trans busts itll be one of the less expensive things on this

They made these for the US Gov at a place I ran security for back when. Can not stress enough the sheer size and power behind these vehicles. Damn near unstoppable.
Sure they can service it at a Ford dealership but they lift the cab to do any major engine work so good luck with that on this one.
They will repair it with a mechanic pit, those who repair big diesel trucks use that...Service Mechanic Pits are very common, a Ford F550 Super Cab , 6.7L Power Stroke with a crane and utility body is super heavy too...it depends on what body it has, it can be even heavier than this armored F550 (boom truck f550 full of tools for example)
Just need it lined with Kevlar and an armor base plate. Then its ready. Then it would mirror a light armor M-RAP... Awwww the good ole days. Sign me up coach I am ready to go back! Thanks for the vid!

This thing is cool, and might be a small advantage in a bug out situation. I say small because it has the usual issues of a wheeled vehicle magnified by not being mil spec in the chassis. A half million vehicle that at least can be penetrated by a 50 BMG that, at the high end of bolt action rifles cast a well under $10K, possibly way less than that. A 7.62 round sounds big, but plenty of calibers like 338, 375, 416, 45-70, and all the other bear and elephant guns out there will penetrate with the right load and pill.
The bigger issue is the ease of a mobility kill unless you have advances tire and wheel features. A 22lr or just about anything else takes normal tires out and that heavy a vehicle will shred them mighty quickly.
A fun vehicle, if I had gobs of money might be practical, but I’d put that much cash into smaller, cheap-looking, and faster vehicles. Add multiple remote and unassuming locations with hidden armor, preferably thick reinforced concrete if possible. $400K goes a long way that way.

If only I could win a lottery! Damn fine looking Elk hunting rig! Maybe some extra armor that would handle up to 50 bmg, and something underneath stronger than just handing a couple grenades! Some more plating to protect both the bottom of the engine, trans, and rear end, etc. You know from rocks. And don't forget dual disappearing awnings on both sides! 😊 As an upgrade, I'd have removable snorkels for both engine and exhaust systems in case you have to cross creeks! 😊

A few things I see for improvements. In the back the handles for the gun ports stick out to much. Somebody is going to hit their head, neck, shoulder, etc... Having the handle collapsed will avoid injury for non-tactical passengers. The second is how accessible the exterior storage and engine are with no obvious locks. When not in use and out in public, you are at a risk of somebody realizing the panels open and stealing anything inside of them.
I remember that year when there was a huge flood some where California and Nevada, the after math the road between were not so easy to traverse. What I'm saying this vehicle could be a big help for those stranded motorist on that hot scorching desert highway being covered with flood waters and gravel.

You know policemen would be so mad at the guys that already don’t roll down their window for them and the cop can’t break your window out or forcefully open your door to drag you out for an unwarranted arrest because they’re locked out. I’d love to have one of these in that situation. They’ll have to read my license through the bulletproof glass because I’m not handing it to them through the pew pew port for them to detain me for no reason.

It’s only rated up to 308 so if you go up against anyone with a 300 win mag or maybe a 243 you will have problems. Also curious about how air tight the cabin is and what the filtration system will prevent from coming in like tear gas or other aerosol threats.
Remember ballistic ratings are point blank, straight on / No angle.

In what world are you taking multiple 300 win mag rounds? The military JLTV can't handle repeated 300 win mag rounds.
It's for realistic protection of the vastly more common 7.62x51 and 7.62x39 rounds, not the Carl G, tyrone has in O block.
@@coboldelphi those are commonly available hunting rounds along 22-250 and in a world where I’m buying something like this I imagine needing protection from standard non military cartridges.
We can also increase its bullet resistence without going all the way up to b6 in different ways. Like.keep your head.out of the windows and maybe line the inside around with kevlar and plates. Theres still like 7 8k pounds of gvwr to play with.

Earlier this year I purchased a minifig scale Lego version that looks a bit like this truck. Its called the Boolakos Oshkosh M-ATV.
It's only rated to STANAG 1, NIJ level 3, it will only stop a few rifle calibers. For that price you can get much better protection with all the perks.

As long as the road rager is someone other than the driver of the GOAT. I can imagine that there isn't much on four wheels or less that will do anything to this vehicle. Trains, construction equipment, and semi-trucks could still be an issue though.
