    Just wanted to follow up and post that I just completed a front brake pad replacement on my 2001 ML320, and your video was VERY helpful!
    The only thing that was different on mine, and it may have just been an error in narration as everything else was identical, but the caliper bolts used a T-40 Torx bit, as opposed to a T-30 mentioned in the video.
    The overall process was fairly easy, although setting the new inner pads with the 3 prongs did give me some grief, but I finally got 'em. The new pads work well and I'm SO RELIEVED not to hear that anxiety-inducing BEEP-BEEP-BEEP along with the brake warning lights any longer!!!!!!!! Thumbs up & subbed! Cheers!

    Im going to change my brakepads on my ML 270 w163 2000 model.
    I can see that this vid was about changing brake pads on an 2005 ML350, but is it the same on my car?

    T30 might work but will likely strip the caliper pin/bolt and render it useless. Go with the correct T40 instead.

      Not yet, just researching parts and process, but your video should come in very handy when I'm ready to replace the pads!

    Save a little money won't save a life. I don't mind the car can't run but I do mind the car couldn't stop. Rotors and pads are cheap since you work on your car, you already save labor cost. I paid $170 for a set of 4 anti-rusts coated with cooling holes and slots rotors, 2 sensors, and 4 sets of ceramic brake pads for my Mercedes ML320. Use ceramic brake pads for a sure stop and cooler braking.

    I wouldn't put that much grease at the back of the pads. Good video though - down to business.

    Our 02 ml320 has 59K miles. It needs pads only - not the rotor. How important is it to replace the rotor too?

    • @HowtoAutomotive
      @HowtoAutomotive  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      rob donell as long as the rotors are thick enough and not too badly grooved you should be OK. If you feel vibrations when you brake now then the rotors will need to be turned or replaced.

    • @robdonell9915
      @robdonell9915 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      What does 'turning the rotors' mean?

    • @HowtoAutomotive
      @HowtoAutomotive  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      rob donell machining cutting the rotors flat again. With a brake lathe.

      I had a young fella come by today and replace the front pads. I was his very first customer; he learned brakes from his father who used to run a brake shop.

      Grettz Mendoza i use a lot more mounts now on my newer videos. Also use a gimbal to make it much more stable.
