Superb 😃👍ÖBB Nightjet 2 and ÖBB Railjet 2 interchangeable modularity. Both trains are based on the same Siemens VIAGGIO platform, accessibility is the novelty! Nightjet 2 single cabins, claustrophobic refrain 😊
I like trains on the Viaggio Comfort platform, I am also very much looking forward to the ČD ComfortJets. As for mini cabins, I don't like tiny spaces, but this cabin didn't feel claustrophobic to me, for example, there is much more space than in a classic 6-berth couchette compartment.
@@PeteBrandy I want also to take one of the new CD Trains, if they are on the routes. Because I want to see the difference between them. I don't know if they have a dining/restaurant or as Interjet just the minibar

Very nice video! Mini cabins should become standard on night trains. I hope other european railways will buy these night trains too in the following years, especially ČD night. I´ve never travelled with night trains, because i found it creepy to sleep with completely strange people in one room and a whole compartment in single occupancy was too expensive
Thanks so much! I absolutely agree! But I can't imagine their use by ČD, 5-car InterJet-type sets without a control car would be better for them. EuroNight trains often change the train composition during the journey and in some directions only 1 or 2 cars continue.. The only route where ČD would use 7-car units is Prague - Košice (but there are usually more sleeping cars)
Great review of this new product, thanks for uploading. I like the concept of the mini cabins but I snore in my sleep and would disturb the person next to me through that door! Cheers from Virginia
This is nice that OBB start rolling these on more routes as time goes by. The mini cabin is of great value if you want to travel and save a night at a hotel. How did you sleep? Rested well?
Yes, it is a very good option for solo travelers. I slept relatively well, but I had a luck that the passengers around were quiet at night and the cabins around me were empty (and also I used ear plugs). The only thing that bothered me was the air conditioning at night, but I solved that with a few stickers :-D
Great to see a real good review of this accommodation, thanks for this Pete. I am thinking of travelling in one of these soon, but I'm 195cm tall, do you think I would have problems given my size? Did you notice any difference between the upper and lower cabin?
Thanks so much for watching! I think that if you bend your legs a little, one night will be OK (the length of the mini-cabin is 188 cm). As for the difference between mini-cabins, lower mini-cabins have a slight edge and the wall at the head end is vertical not inwardly-sloping as in an upper cabin. And lower cabin have extra luggage space under the mattress.
you sure are braver than me..........that cubby hole of a sleeper spells claustrophobia to me....plus a neighbor right next to you....sound proofing maybe??? good show...thanks
I was also worried about the journey in the mini cabin, and honestly the reason why I travelled from Vienna was that if it wasn't acceptable for me, I would still have time to disembark at Wien Meidling :-D But finally it wasn't so bad, and fortunately the next cabin was empty :D
I bought tickets as soon as the deployment of these trains on the route to Bregenz was announced. Now the price for a mini cabin is around €45, but some days (about 14 days in advance) you can buy a ticket for €39.90, but I think in the main season the prices will be higher.
The prices on the Vienna-Bregenz are relatively cheap when comparing it to the astronomical prices on other routes since the ÖBB have gone mad with their dynamic pricing system With the Austrian Klimaticket as a a discount card you can get the mini cabin for only 20€ (!) which is an absolute steal
The design is quite similar, in the new Nightjets they have more modern elements, but the compartments in the Comfort Liegewagen coaches seem more spacious to me.
