The design philosophy behind this is to try and mix both jump 'n run and the puzzle/quest - like design from Zelda into one game.

Currently, there are exactly 80 Stars in this game. The final version will most likely have 140 or 150 Stars. All the powerups and the first 5 dungeons + the biggest part of the overworld are already finished. I have to polish some older levels up though and do betatesting, before this is ready for release, after I've finished the rest of the game. - เกม

This is EXACTLY what a mod like this should look, feel, and play like.
If you just threw Mario into Ocarina of time, it would be dull, unoriginal, and the gameplay wouldn't work at all.
Which is why you gotta make it work, but not by remaining true to both games, but by filling in the blanks.
Simply crossing them over doesn't fix the issues, which is why you gotta invent new things to bridge the gameplay and make it work, and you did exactly that perfectly

Also: don't worry about the quick speed thing. while that is on, Mario barely can jump, so you can only use it to move around the ground.
