The hair on my head started thinning big time after an extremely stressful period I went through. Consequently, I myself researched the net and decided to test a hair oil called litttleextra coocoonion & a comb made of neem wood. It really really made a difference. At present, I have lengthy, thick, black hair which has grown down to my waist and cut off three times since I started. Simple & effective. Also, equally effective is massaging the scalp - it stimulates hair growth. You just have to do this once a week. Pretty soon, you will see new hair growing in.
Hair growth has improved after using the liitllextra coconiooon hair oil. Amazing results. I’m happy to recommend it. Perfect smell. Leaves no residue.
I know this video was made primarily for guys but as a girl who was raised by a single dad, I found this information to be extremely helpful. I'm getting to the age now where my hair is getting exhausted by my bad habits and I need to start learning to properly take care of it to avoid breakage. Thanks for making this!
Pretty sure this video benefits girls a lot more anyway cuz the dude got long hair. For most of us men with short hair, we can't really blow dry anyway cuz it'll require us to kinda get close.
Many women with long hair make the same mistakes (especially damaging their hair with excessive heat blow-drying); these tips can benefit them as well!
@@TravWhiteStyle Hey Trav. Do you happen to know what causes a lot of men AND women to have slightly weaker hair on top of their heads than sides? Often the hair on the sides is even in women slightly thicker and shinier than on top. It is also visible in (dark) blonde or brown haired men (or women), where the sides are quite often slightly bit darker than the top (which very slightly gives it a coup de solei) . Also, right in the area of the crown and the hairline, the hairs are often thinner, lighter and dryer too. Have you spotted this same thing? I have this going on with my hair. Hair on top is finer in texture and does not retain any water and never looks wet. The hair on the side does retain water and look wet. The hair top looks kind of shit in quality without product (frizzly/dry). The texture of my hair is wavy (smaller curls on top - obviously since the hair is more fine too). I noticed that my hair started to look more like this after/around puberty and worsened from age 13-16 or so. When I was a kid (like age 3) I had very straight hair at all. I would be very interested to know which hormones cause this increase in curls and why this differecne between sides and top. It would be great if you could respond to this or make a video about the subejct
@@PowerRedBullTypology I have the same thing with it looking slightly lighter at the temples & I dunno if you mentioned this too but when I buzzed it last time before i started growing it out the part in front of my ears looked noticeably darker (where sideburns would be). My hair is really thick & booshy but I can't really complain lol, I need to stop being so fuckin anxious of my forehead though 😅
I never, ever blow dry my hair...or even brush it. I have super... difficult hair. I have curls, waves, and straight strands all up in my hair, so if I were to brush or blow dry, it will be super frizzy
That doesn't prove anything if you searched hard enough you could find other studies that probably don't support his arguments. He would need to quote multiple sources for it to be really sound.
Some studies are completely false. Knowledge is power, and misinformation is commonplace. The only way to be 100% certain is to conduct experiments and studies yourself. Trust no one. This is just my opinion, like most people who share theirs.
Imma save your time folks: 1) Wetting hair daily - when the hair is wet, it will swell, having the hair swell and return to regular size frequently will damage over time. Wash hair w shampoo twice per week. 2)Washing incorrectly - gently scrub scalp with shampoo - wring out your hair so it’s not as soaked - condition on hair shaft (not the roots) - let condition set for 5 mins, wash rest of body - rinse it out 3) Drying your hair incorrectly - air drying is more damaging according to how it’s swollen for long periods to dry - instead pat your hair down w a towel and blow dry on low heat with 6 inches away 4) UV damage - use olive oil as sunscreen for your hair 5) Using wrong shampoo - Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate or Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is bad for your hair. Read ingredients. 👍
I've watched this video out of interest and I basically do everything he says not to do, but my hair's completely fine lol. I've always used that 2-in-1 shit too that's probably full of sulphates.
I'm 21 and noticed the fluffiness in my hair has gone down over time, super glad to have found this video and I can't wait to get back to the style I've loved for years. Thank you!
My god, I've had long hair for over 3 years now and I always wondered why it always looked so unhealthy when I kept caring about it so much, and here is a guy with his hair the same length as mine telling me exactly everything I did wrong about it for so long. Thanks bud, ya got another sub
Well sorry for the late response, I guess. Honestly I haven't been keeping up with all of the tips and strategies that he talked about on the video but the ones I maintained actually helped. I'm still experiencing hair loss but not as frequently and as strongly as it once was and I've been able to keep it silky smooth since I started practicing some of it. What he said in the video definitely has an impact, might not be too apparent but after a while you feel the difference and if properly applied, I'm sure it will get you good results.

It is. Half the videos are poorly disguised ads for products and turn out to be centred around making a case for that product rather than giving generally useful advice. At least this guy saves promoting his app to the comments, and provides sources. (Whether he is misrepresenting those sources or is cherry picking them is another question but at least there's the opportunity to scrutinise.) Still, I wonder how he makes his money.
If you suspect you have pattern baldness, you can ask a dermatologist to confirm. Despite what people think, there are medical treatments that can stop this
@@thejerichoyeah, I think any man with long hair already knows he can use women's products, but I think the guy was saying it's hard to find hair care advice for men, not men's products. Men and women have different hair. Estrogen, testosterone, and even your gut biome all have a huge impact on hair. That's why men need advice from other men about hair care. There is a difference. Go touch a girls hair and tell me it doesn't feel drastically different than your own.
I was inclined to trust you already just because your hair looks amazing, but I really appreciate that you back up your advice with science. This whole video is an eye-opener, especially the part about UV damage!
I’m a black woman with naturally curly hair and I’m currently battling hygral fatigue. This video helped me understand why much better than most of the hair care gurus out there. Thanks! 🙏🏽 ❤️
Hey tip for going sulfate free! You would want to avoid silicones (if you look up silicones found in hair products you could probably find long lists) because silicones require sulfates to properly remove them from hair and without using a sulfate to dissolve the silicone you could be left with buildup on your hair and scalp (which no one wants)
I just got my hair long for the first time in my life and I honestly didn't realize I was doing everything wrong. I checked all the no no boxes here 😬. Thanks man I really appreciate you.
@Daniel M I agree with you man, we must definitely take very good care of our hair, all I wanted to say was that there are a lot of young men who think they can prevent baldness by taking care of their hair including me, but we must accept that it might not always work out as we hope, just saying that we must know the limits to which we can prevent baldness 😊
I had longer and more luxurious hair when quarantine started and I can now say that everything is up to genetics. I didn't do anything wrong but I also didn't care about my hair health and it was still better than 99% of girls at my school.
As a man who never gave a shit about my hair, but am getting older and starting to want to keep my longer hair...thank you. Simple and informative. No crazy stuff, just basic stuff is basic folk can do 😃
Not gonna lie, the bloopers are amazing! Don't you love it when you came across TH-cam video that actually really inform you the right thing like this one and not just some sellouts for products? Trav, thank you for this one! You're definitely of the best channel for hair advise in the platform!
I’ve been growing my hair for almost two years and I learned a ton. Was not expecting that I should probably switch how I was showering to accommodate other than that I had to have my hair go behind me while rinsing. My wife does most of these common practices and I never even considered copying her.
I'm still shocked about damaging air drying, I suddenly stopped blow-drying my hair because I wanted to upgrade my hair care and thanks to you I immediately stopped (I've been doing it for 3 weeks so...not much damage i hope)
My great aunt used to tell me: "dry your hair and dont let it wet" because you gonna regret it (she suffered from migraine). I ignored her and now, years after that advice, I suffer from migraine that agravates if I dont dry it properly.
It’s surprising how many men with long hair have so little knowledge on how to take care of your it. I think it’s because as kids we stick to gender stereotypes so much that our parents either never let us grow our hair out or even if they do, they just neglect to tell us how to take care of it. Because only girls apparently need to know how to care for their hair.

@@MynameisKyle99 im not so convinced it is. I tried to eat balanced meals. My current understanding is that washing daily may cause your scalp to overproduce oils in overcompensation. So niw when i stop washing my scalp is acustomed to overcompensate. I could try the baby powder thing, who knows.
I've had long hair for over 5 years and I've constantly been trying to find ways to take better care of it and there are barely any sources for specifically men with long hair so I'm so happy I found this channel since long hair in men is very underlooked
I’ve been growing my hair out since August of 2019. I follow a few channels centered around growing out your hair & maintenance, not to discredit them in any way as they do give out great advice, but I find yours to be the most useful and informative. It’s helped me a lot through my hair growth journey. Keep it up dude!
Friendly reminder that everyone and their hair is different. What works for one person won't necessarily work for the next. In fact, some things that do wonders for your hair might ruin someone else's.
4:25 This is a non-damaging way to wash your hair correctly: - Use lukewarm water - Gentle Scrub - Wring out your hair - Condition on the hair shaft not the ends - Let it sit for 5 minutes - Rinse it out
Kinda true it was easy to begin with but as time goes on we just made it complicated since some people consider long hair men to be femaleish since most men prefer short hair nowadays just like relationships
This guy literally tellss the reason behind every myth and reality oh he works hard also he gives citations to every knowledge he borrows from .This guy is greatt..
I love that you actually did research to prove your point, it gives these tips a depth meaning for those who may not think are true. Also, I find so interesting that I already do most of these (and is the first time I watch a video of yours), except for the 'hydral fatigue', I tent to shape my hair with water 🥺 as I got curls, so your info is so important ✨
curly hair is a beast of itself so it kinda needs even more care to properly maintain one that i know is instead of rubbing it with towel you just press it against hair because it uncurls a decent bit with former there is a bunch more but i dont even remember them (except for "use proper shampoo")
Ive watched videos for this before (mostly for women) But you are only one who gives the science behind it and offers products and solutions THANK YOU ^-^
I found that Garnier Hair Food mask to be one of the best conditioners I have used for my hair. 98% natural ingredients and only £4 a tub (around $5) and lasts for a long time. Great video with the other tips, I didn't know about the air drying thing so that's something I will try to avoid and just use a hair dryer on cool mode to dry
Dude! I have been growing my hair ever since quarantine and who knew there was so much to learn. I've been towel drying my hair like a savage for the past few months. Thanks for the info
Thank you for a lot of good pointers ! Except for one. A dermatologist told me that not replacing some of the oils on the scalp after shampooing can lead to over production from the oil glands in the skin....leading to oily hair. so, conditioning the scalp and hair at the same time seems to me as a win win.
Depends on the person actually, not everyone produces oil from the scalps in the same ratio. Which is why some people have rough hair and some have smooth hair without doing anything. Think of it like different kind of soils, some soil can be used to grow crops and some are just infertile. The advice from the dermatologist is correct but it is not a generic advice.
Don’t forget the importance of good, healthy diet for hair growth. Vitamin A and biotin especially. Also, I started washing my 20” long hair only once a month or so with non sulfates, after washing it far too often. Between very infrequent washing and regular brushing, my long hair really started to improve.
You literally saved my life. I shower every day 1-2 times and use shampoo 2 a week. Every time I go through my hair, I have like 3 hairs on my fingers...it freakes me out and thought it’s hair loss. I think the way you explained it is awesome. I probably shower too much, that’s why my hair is flat not that curly and just ew
your drying tip 5:08 was a game changer for me, thanks! i used to think air drying your hair was better than blow drying! but it makes sense, because i notice my hair will be more oily soon after i wash it VS drying it with a dryer after it’s been washed. thanks so much!
Almost a year ago I shaved my head because of how messed up and frizzy it got with a munch of short hair in my long hair. I'm currently growing it back still, this will be the things I will now keep in mind. Thank you!
Funny enough I’ve been doing this my whole life and people have always complimented my hair saying it’s super thick and soft I had no idea it was because I only wash it once to twice a week. The only problem is i have eczema so I tend to get a really dry face and scalp so I normally only wet my hair once every two to three days otherwise it gets super irritated and itchy whenever I sweat 😅 it’s a burden but I’ve figured out ways to reduce my skin problems
@@Wulfahlicious block the area where you have eczema, i commonly get eczema on my hands so i wear gloves when i do, also clean your sheets often and wash your pillows and air out your mattres, also make sure you always have your window slightly open, if its to cold to have your window open try a humidifier, if all this doesnt work you should go see a doctor, cause i think natural remedies are always the best, doctors should be your last resort
Believe me you are lucky to have dry skin/hair rather than very oily. I never had such problem with hair needing to be wet because if the world runs out of oil my skin would produce it for the entire planet for free and I would be a zillionare and oil magnate.
@@Wulfahlicious don't use soap and don't shower for longer than like 3 minutes. If you're eating lots of dairy and sugar, stop, wear as little clothes as possible at all times and do exercises to sweat, it may itch but sweat will help get the toxic stuff out of your skin. I had eczema so bad I thought it was gonna kill me, but this is what I did and ended up healing really good
I'm a woman, but this tips are actually pretty good, and other women do this too. But something I didn't know but I've been wondering since some time ago, was the uv damage and how could I protect my hair from the sun, so this 6:76 was very helpful, I didn't have idea olive oil could help with that! Besides, olive oil is really good to hydrate the hair, so it's pretty cool.
You'll always lose a ton of hair, whether it's long or short and no matter how well you take care of it. The longer it gets the more noticeable it is, but hair falling out is normal. You only really have a problem if it's falling out more quickly than it regrows.
@@yyaksuperales3819 hey bro! hope you're well. First of all, please respond and update me on you hair. Thanks for reaching out. I'm no expert but I would suggest daily intake of Saw Palmetto (1x) and Vit D (1x.) Furthermore, be sure to massage your scalp outside of the shower daily. Just massage your scalp in a way that feels pleasurable. David Bowie once said when asked how he maintained such a good head of hair: "Just keep touching it." It will be hard to regrow hair you've already lost without some sort of medical treatment, but the things I've outlined, in conjunction with the points laid out in this video, should help you maintain what you still have.
That hair fatigue is very real. I started growing my hair about 2 years ago and I would wash it and conditioned it EVERY day. I then started washing my hair every two days and conditioning my hair maybe once or twice a week. I also learned different shampoos and conditioners made my hair dry. I only shampoo my scalp and that's it.
I've accepted, after years and years of all sorts of experimentation, that there's nothing that's going to make any sort of significant difference in my naturally thin, super baby-fine straight oily hair. I did appreciate all the science evidence in this video though!
5:40 if you have curly hair, some towel materials can ruin your curls. i use a microfibre towel when scrunching to avoid this, and it makes no difference to curl integrity i find. you can also use a t shirt
I have to say, I've had my hair long for a couple of years and these last 3 months I noticed that I was loosing too much hair. So I decided to check your video. I learned that I was doing all bad things said in this video. And what actually started of making me losing my hair was that I cleaned my hair every single day since the last 4 months when I started to change my routines. So when doing exercises I always had my hair greasy, so I washed my hair when I arrived home. Its crazy how a change of routine, leads to another change of routine. I will watch your other videos due to how well explained they are. Thank you for your tips and instructions! I will see the results in 5 months.
@@TCt83067695 I apologize for the late reply. I had decided to do other checks and forgot about to update on this comment. TLDR - It does work, results may be seen 3 weeks later. I decided to do 3 months first of doing what I always did and collected the hair I lost in a zip-lock bag to have a "controlled" test to see the differences from before and after. Once the 3 months came by, I started to follow this video's recommendations. The only thing I didn't change where the products I used like shampoo and conditioner to have a fair result. I didn't start to see results until 2 weeks passed. I saw that I was losing less hair than before. When 3 months passed (6 total since start), I compared with how much hair I lost before the changes and I saw a ~40% decrease in hair loss which is a lot. My curiosity increased and decided to add 3 months more but with a more expensive shampoo and conditioner for hair loss. 2 months in already(almost 3) and honestly, I saw no difference, the old one was Tio Nacho. New one is Monat. Guess i'll stay with my old products. A bit of story to understand what I found to be doing wrong. When I was in university 6 years ago, my hygiene wasn't nice. I used to take baths every 3 to 5 days. Yea I know, nasty. Well my hair was long and at that time was silky smooth with a lot of volume. After graduating I slowly changed my routine to take a bath 2 times everyday, after arriving from work and when waking up. Well, I washed my hair every single time. I didn't notice I was losing hair, and when I did, I thought it was due to aging. My wife started to lose hair and she thought she had alopecia. We both joked that she was starting to look like Vegeta. I started to search online and that is how I stumbled on this video. I showed her the video and she started to regain volume after a while. So the problem all this time, was that both of us washed too much our hairs. I still have the hair samples in a zip-lock bag, but I don't think I will upload a video about it.
Hey Trav, your channel is brilliant and really insightful! I’m just starting my hair growth journey and documenting it all along the way. Thanks for sharing so many great tips!
Thanks, finally someone telling it right. I only wash my hair once a week. My mom when she was alive, told me she had an uncle that had a salon. He said you should only wash your hair once a week. I use good sulfate free shampoo conditioner,, Kerastase for colored treated hair. I use a good leave in. Don’t forget, use good quality round brushes to blow dry hair. I use medium and large Olivia Garden styling brushes.
This is the most helpful video I've ever watched. My hair is pretty long and I've been doing everything wrong lmao. No wonder its try and has so many split ends
I don't have especially long hair, but this is incredibly useful info. A solid answer for how long I should leave conditioner in and proper drying technique is absolutely something I've been looking for. I try to limit shampooing to twice a week just because I've seen better results from doing so, but even with that and combing 2-3 times a day to distribute oils from the scalp, I find my hair isn't as healthy-looking as I'd like by the time my next wash day comes around. The one thing I don't do for sure is the drying techniques, so I'm going to give that a try and see how it goes!
Oh man I seriously hope these help me. I’m only 15 but my hair is still falling out and breaking and losing color. Turns out I’ve done everything wrong. Thank you!
As a guy who's been slowly losing his ridiculously curly hair (legit ringlets like a typical anime rich girl), I've been looking for good tips on how to maintain it properly so I can enjoy what I have left while I have it, I'm excited to try yours. I'm still very hesitant on only washing my hair once a week since my hair gets oily pretty fast, though I do it every other day. I'll try these and hopefully they work! I've been using Head & Shoulders 2 in 1, which has worked fine but definitely isn't the right kind for my hair. I just ordered some "OGX Thick & Full + Biotin & Collagen Extra Strength Volumizing Shampoo" and the conditioner that goes with it.
I have long curly hair too but mine gets super dry super fast. So I only wash once a week if that. But sorry to break it to this guy but I wet my hair everyday and with conditioner and it’s fine
Dude head and shoulders is horrible bro. I used to use it because i had dandruff but it caused my hair to thin. If you want i can send you the shampoo and conditioner i use because i have curly hair too. It definitely helps my curls flow
Glad I found this video, I’ve only had long hair for a few years and it looks healthy and thick but i’d always lose a lot of hair each shower (twice a week) making the top of my forehead look extra fuzzy from the breakage leaving short hairs. Although the past few years i’ve seen no signs of my hair looking worse but its still a lot of hair which equals mess.
Thank you for telling me everything I’ve been doing is wrong! I’m that guy who’s always had a buzz and want to try growing it out and I do everything… in this video. Time to buy a blow dryer!
I usually take a warm/hot shower, and then rinse my hair/scalp with cold water for 30 seconds when im done taking a shower. Does that still make it bad for me to air dry my hair then?

On drying…. I have naturally wavy hair. If I blow it dry it gets frizzy or too straight. I usually wrap it in a towel for about 10 minutes out of the shower then put a bit of jojoba or coconut oil just to keep it from getting frizzy and keep the wave defined. Am I really damaging it? You have awesome hair bro!
Bro your channel is sick! I’ve been rocking short hair my entire life When I mean short I mean short! ( 2-3inches max!) I naturally have curly to wavy hair And when it grows long it gets messy and hard to manage But this time I’ve decided to grow out the top more to have some voulme and do more hairstyles I’ll trim the sides and back That’s the look I’m going for I changed my shampoo to sulfate-free And started using conditioner And hair masks and oils It made a big difference Anyways your channel definitely helped me Keep up the good work
Okay just try different things that work best for your own hair. Do this but be very patient and soon enough you will find what's best of the best for ya hair.

Hi Trav. I've been using Nioxin for 20 years to combat thinning. I'm finally growing my hair out. A helpful tip for me would be hugely appreciated. Thx!
I wouldn’t speak for all of us, as this is something I’ve been aware of myself as someone with long hair. I’m hyper conscious about my body and its health/hygiene
How do you take care of curl/wavy hair my hair falls every time I put on shampoo not a lot but it does fall and when I don’t wash my hair for two days or one it falls the most when I put on shampoo
Hey! I’m a wavy and there is tons of information on caring for curly/wavy hair online especially TH-cam, but the basics include avoiding sulfates and making sure hair is moisturized and healthy. I would highly recommend using leave in conditioner after taking a shower and leaving normal conditioner on for as long as normal. Also for styling I would recommend using a small amount of gel around your curl clumps, and scrunching your hair when conditioning (there are tutorials on TH-cam and further explanations of scrunching that I would recommend looking into) hopefully that makes more sense and I wish you luck on your hair journey!
May wanna mention that to your doctor next time you get a check up if your that concerned. Hair is complex and is more than just your hair routine. Your genetics, health and diet effect your hair probably more so than your routine.
what advice do you have for someone who has curly hair, but only when wet? I used to wet my hair everyday because it was part of my morning curling routine, but now that I'm hearing it's bad, I probably shouldn't do it. Is there a way to make my hair curly without water?
Serious question, i had some really bad scalp irritation for the longest time UNTIL i started using conditioner on it on daily basis, i just put it on gently and immediately rinse it off, but it's the only thing that got rid of the irritation. Is that bad? Maybe it depends on a per person bases?
I always get compliments for my hair and sometimes girls ask me about it, and I shower everyday and use the cheapest shampoo I can find, sometimes even soap, and dry my hair as hard as I can with a towel. I believe I have alot more oily scalp than the average person which would explain how it remains healthy even when I misstreat it
right so i do have low ceramides in my hair ig. I always get irritation on my skin when i apply my shampoo. Just checked out the ingredients and the bad boy SLS is there. Thanks for letting me know.
I was literally using shampoo daily, drying my hair with towel savagely then hairdryer right after, not using any oil and now I’m half bald, guess i was too late for this vid
If it’s any consolation your hair routine makes little to no difference. Genetics are a huge factor in balding. The only ways to prevent it is medication or hair transplants.
@@SomeLad12 i believe that genetics are a huge factor in balding for sure, but when i see my 10 year older brother is never bald and his hair is healthy i blame my hair routine for that

I know this video was made primarily for guys but as a girl who was raised by a single dad, I found this information to be extremely helpful. I'm getting to the age now where my hair is getting exhausted by my bad habits and I need to start learning to properly take care of it to avoid breakage. Thanks for making this!
Good to know I'm not the only one finding it helpful!
Same here! Would love long lavish looking hair but bad habits make it impossible
Pretty sure this video benefits girls a lot more anyway cuz the dude got long hair. For most of us men with short hair, we can't really blow dry anyway cuz it'll require us to kinda get close.
I have a shaved head. Am born female. So idk why I was recommended this or why I clicked it.
Stay away from hairdressers.

Definitely! My problem is dry hair!
I like how his every tip is followed by a study.
That doesn't prove anything if you searched hard enough you could find other studies that probably don't support his arguments. He would need to quote multiple sources for it to be really sound.

Imma save your time folks:
1) Wetting hair daily - when the hair is wet, it will swell, having the hair swell and return to regular size frequently will damage over time. Wash hair w shampoo twice per week.
2)Washing incorrectly
- gently scrub scalp with shampoo
- wring out your hair so it’s not as soaked
- condition on hair shaft (not the roots)
- let condition set for 5 mins, wash rest of body
- rinse it out
3) Drying your hair incorrectly
- air drying is more damaging according to how it’s swollen for long periods to dry
- instead pat your hair down w a towel and blow dry on low heat with 6 inches away
4) UV damage
- use olive oil as sunscreen for your hair
5) Using wrong shampoo
- Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate or Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is bad for your hair. Read ingredients. 👍

You can't permanently damage your hair short of descalping yourself or scalding your scalp off. The hair itself regrows.
Well, it depends... was your hair fine before?

You'll always lose a ton of hair, whether it's long or short and no matter how well you take care of it. The longer it gets the more noticeable it is, but hair falling out is normal. You only really have a problem if it's falling out more quickly than it regrows.

Just massage your scalp in a way that feels pleasurable. David Bowie once said when asked how he maintained such a good head of hair: "Just keep touching it."
It will be hard to regrow hair you've already lost without some sort of medical treatment, but the things I've outlined, in conjunction with the points laid out in this video, should help you maintain what you still have.

Please drop an update 🙏
2 months in already(almost 3)
and honestly, I saw no difference, the old one was Tio Nacho.
@@justlikethat7695 I posted an update right now, after following this video, i have more volume than before.

@@ChopinPlayer3what shampoo do you use bro ?
You should rename your channel "The hair scientist" ^^
Very usefull and well documented video, as always !
Thank you! I will definitely be changing my shampoo, I've tried a few different shampoo's but they always left my scalp itchy and now i know why.
Damn I didn't realize how often I missed important information on our hair. Got me something to think about, thanks.
Thank you for telling me everything I’ve been doing is wrong! I’m that guy who’s always had a buzz and want to try growing it out and I do everything… in this video. Time to buy a blow dryer!
I am a female and I was totally doing a lot of things wrong with my hair until I came across your channel lol.
Very helpful, especially the sunscreen part. Never thought about that!
Aight, you’re my new favourite hair guy now
I usually take a warm/hot shower, and then rinse my hair/scalp with cold water for 30 seconds when im done taking a shower. Does that still make it bad for me to air dry my hair then?
Trav you're fucking amazing!! The ultimate hair scientist. You're one of the few independent youtubers in any category that I know that ACTUALLY cite their sources. You're amazing, thank you!
After realizing I've had a good amount of protein loss, you think you could make a video on a protein mask?
Look up aphogee treatment.
Just take 2 eggs Mix it Put lemon juice olive oil if u want Then put it in your hair chill 30 minutes So your hair can Get all the Magic vitamins Healthy fats eggs have then wash it with Warm water. Jk dont do it the egg will cook in your hair wash it with cold water Eggs are thickening the hair too
@Stop change my Acc Name 2 or 3 times a week it really helps bro do a research
Can't thank you enough for these videos! since 2020-ish I've been paying closer attention to the daily hairs that fall off my head and I notice some days I lose the usual (
Your hair does also go through development phases, during the shedding phase you will shed a lot of hair.
I never shampooed as a teen in hs, rarely showered. My hair was so limg and full....now its flat and short. Ugh gotta stop showering again

I’ve been rocking short hair my entire life
When I mean short I mean short! ( 2-3inches max!)
I naturally have curly to wavy hair
And when it grows long it gets messy and hard to manage
But this time I’ve decided to grow out the top more to have some voulme and do more hairstyles I’ll trim the sides and back
That’s the look I’m going for
I changed my shampoo to sulfate-free
And started using conditioner
And hair masks and oils
It made a big difference
Anyways your channel definitely helped me
Keep up the good work
Everybody on youtube say different things, I don't know who i should folow.
'Folow' him
Okay just try different things that work best for your own hair. Do this but be very patient and soon enough you will find what's best of the best for ya hair.

Lmfao for reals
Really useful ❤ I just realised i was taking care of my long hair... badly. I knew not to wash it daily or shampoo about every week or two but didn't know the other ones.
I love how you used scientific research to back up your claims. Very interesting video. What do you suggest to eliminate dandruff?
Not a professional here but I use tea tree in my shampoo or conditioner to reduce flaking
Ketokonazole shampoo
Hi Trav. I've been using Nioxin for 20 years to combat thinning. I'm finally growing my hair out. A helpful tip for me would be hugely appreciated. Thx!
Don't cut it.
For all us of us straight guys this was definitely a shocker, it's like realizing you have been folding the clothes wrong way...
I wouldn’t speak for all of us, as this is something I’ve been aware of myself as someone with long hair. I’m hyper conscious about my body and its health/hygiene
I’ve been growing my hair for about 9 months now and recently I noticed im losing a lot of hair, is that bad?
Hair fall is normal
How do you take care of curl/wavy hair my hair falls every time I put on shampoo not a lot but it does fall and when I don’t wash my hair for two days or one it falls the most when I put on shampoo
me too pal
I’m only 16, and my hair is starting to go, i don’t wanna go out anymore ☹️
how much hair does it go ? 40 to 70 is fine.
What your hairline?
May wanna mention that to your doctor next time you get a check up if your that concerned. Hair is complex and is more than just your hair routine. Your genetics, health and diet effect your hair probably more so than your routine.
Learn from J Sins, and let it go with grace.
Same here man :")
You got good hair yourself, thanks for the advise on hair maintenance. I really needed it myself.
what advice do you have for someone who has curly hair, but only when wet? I used to wet my hair everyday because it was part of my morning curling routine, but now that I'm hearing it's bad, I probably shouldn't do it. Is there a way to make my hair curly without water?
Serious question, i had some really bad scalp irritation for the longest time UNTIL i started using conditioner on it on daily basis, i just put it on gently and immediately rinse it off, but it's the only thing that got rid of the irritation.
Is that bad? Maybe it depends on a per person bases?
Your scalp is dry and your conditioner is replacing the moisture. Might need a shampoo change
I always get compliments for my hair and sometimes girls ask me about it, and I shower everyday and use the cheapest shampoo I can find, sometimes even soap, and dry my hair as hard as I can with a towel. I believe I have alot more oily scalp than the average person which would explain how it remains healthy even when I misstreat it
Better stop mistreating it or it will come around and bite you in the ass
Your scalp gets oily because it overproduces oil after you strip all of it out every day with that shampoo. Not a good sign😬
@@whathappenedtomyyoutubehandle Damn, maybe I should go easy on the shampoo a cuppa days a week afterall
@@Grandmaster-Kush 😅
right so i do have low ceramides in my hair ig.
Your hair routine is soooo wrong
If it’s any consolation your hair routine makes little to no difference. Genetics are a huge factor in balding. The only ways to prevent it is medication or hair transplants.
@@SomeLad12 i believe that genetics are a huge factor in balding for sure, but when i see my 10 year older brother is never bald and his hair is healthy i blame my hair routine for that
@@CatJuiceSays i think he knows that
