    I am INCREDIBLY grateful for your tutorial. I'm running our AV department at church but not equipped with computer know-how to do it efficiently. Your tutorial just made my life so.much.easier after we switched from 1 camera (installed prior to my joining the AV team) to 3 cameras (newly installed). After following your tips my AV team can now use the Streamdeck seamlessly to operate all 3 cameras. Thank you!

    Just wanted to say thanks for all your videos on these streaming topics, they’ve been invaluable for me lately, trying to help the DJ world level up their streams on the DJcity channel.

    Here's what sucks: If you click off the ATEM app for any reason, streamdeck will jump to whatever is programmed for that other software and you lose your switcher control. For instance-- if you check for an email during a stream, you will get the generic home page or the Mail-specific page if you've created one. Also-- If you have a StreamDeck XL, you can only use the number of buttons for a regular stream deck. So all those other buttons that aren't in the 5x3 array do not function. Yes, it works well if you have a basic Stream Deck, I agree. But there are some negatives if you plan on using the Stream Deck as the major interface for switching.

    • @heretorecord
      @heretorecord  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is certainly not the case - in fact you don’t even need to run the ATEM Software on the computer at all. The Companion is talking directly to the ATEM and it does not require that you have the app open or focused. The XL version is also being developed right now too so it may not work as well, though You have to run a new beta version.

    • @aaronpk
      @aaronpk 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If that’s happening for you, then you’re doing something different than described in this video. In this mode, the StreamDeck is not using Elgato’s software, instead it’s using Companion, and that software does not pay attention to which app is in focus the way that Elgato’s software does. I’m guessing you commented without actually trying this 😉

    Woah, I went to the bitfocus site and there was a thumbnail of your video. This might explode in a meta internet loop! OK serious question though: If you can't use the Stream deck software at the same time, what if you want to control your Atem as well as control other things like OBS? Example, I stream my band with the Atem Mini Pro but I use OBS through my Macbook Pro to play pre recorded videos, show photos title screens etc. I would like to control both the Atem functions AND OBS with a streamdeck. I have also heard you can set the stream deck to switch cameras on the Atem, turn the volume down of the mic input, start a video playing in OBS, wait until the end of the video,. turn the computer volume down, switch the input back to the camera and turn the volume up all with the press pf one button. What software would you use to achieve this?

    • @heretorecord
      @heretorecord  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha I’m everywhere! You can control OBS with Companion by adding it as a module just like with the ATEM! That should let you do what you want, but let me know if I am wrong

    This looks a great bit of kit. I would definitely use it for macros to advance through the media player. One thing I don’t get is how you can connect the ATEM to the Ethernet via your MacBook. I’ve been trying to do this since I saw that in the Blackmagic livestream launch, but concluded you need to hardwire the ATEM to the router itself, which is why I have a 50ft Ethernet cable on order. So am I wrong? Thanks.

      I had the same problem. Stream Deck needs a Companion plug-in that I do not recall being mentioned in the video. Open the Stream Deck app. Up top, next to the gear icon for settings is another icon that looks a little like a keyboard, but it’s a miniature Stream Deck icon (duh) and has a blue circle with a white plus sign. Click that and it takes you to the Elgato store. On the far left is a vertical menu with “Discover” preselected. Click the choice below “PLUGINS” and scroll down the resulting window until you see the “Companion button” plugin. In the upper right hand corner you will see the button “Install Profile.” Do that and the magic will happen. Cheers!
