I purchased the S7 MaxV Ultra three weeks ago. I watched many video reviews on Roborock and other brands. Already having an S6 for a few years, I decided to stay with Roborock. (Since I already had the Roborock app for the S6 installed on my phone, I merely scanned the OCR code. It pulled up my app, added itself to the home wi-fi, and added the S7 portion to the app. It happened so quickly, I had to check the app again to be sure it really happened!) While many of the Roborock comparisons were helpful, yours was the single-most valuable comparison when it came to my own needs in my home. Since we have some very low pile carpeting, we also have a lot of wooden floors, so the S7 made more sense. I am very pleased with it and want to thank you for your valuable review. My only gripe is there is no warning when the onboard dust bin is full. Omo is, so far, the only cleaning solution recommended by Roborock. I add a capful for every full container of clean water. It does a wonderful job on the wooden floors. If you combine a vac/mopping job, the mop head rises appropriately and won't even dampen rugs. Emptying and rinsing the dirty water container after you've finished a day's mopping will help prevent any odors. Adding a few drops of disinfectant, like Lysol, is very effective as well. Since I only do full-house mopping once a week, I routinely remove the mopping pad and toss it in the washer, letting it air dry. Another way to avoid odors. No robot is completely maintenance-free, but the S7 comes very close. It does a big job in a big house, saving me hours of time. It was well-worth the investment. Thanks again.
Excellent comparison. Makes me comfortable in keeping my S7 MaxV Ultra, particularly since the vast majority of my home is hard floors, where the S7 excelled.
Thank you for this in-depth review, exactly what I was looking for to answer the question is it worth upgrading my S7 MaxV Ultra with newer generation or not : since I don't have any carpet the answer for me is NOT. Please continue with similar reviews for next generation products, especially potential S8 MaxV or similar high end products. I have a feeling that Roborock almost reached the top of performances, so the new models don't seem to bring too much evolution. However I'd expect Roborock to keep the model lines as Pro Ultra is not really equivalent to MaxV Ultra...
This is a fantastic review. Any thoughts on the new S7 Max Ultra (not MaxV)? It added auto mop drying, got rid of the camera, and has slightly higher suction power (5500 Pa in the new Max, 5100 Pa in the MaxV). I read that the reason the MaxV is more expensive is the camera's ability for live video and video calls (plus the more advanced camera in MaxV improves its object avoidance). Any thoughts?
I like my maxv takes pictures, I locate sometimes stuff under the couch or beds with it :). I bought the dryer module for the dock and it works perfect
Great video! In my opinion both robots are good, one on hard floors and one on carpets and rugs...but the S7maxV has many more advantages.1 Can be used with multiple bases 2 You can keep the robot working if the base breaks 3 You buy the drying module separately and if it stops working you don't have to disassemble the dock station or send it for assistance. Many options for S7maxV that S8 pro ultra does not have, so I bought S7MaxV and the base separately. Ciao from Italy.
@@jasonpatel9969 Hi, the S7maxV only works with the bases of the maxv line. I bought a s7maxv with a small base and the ultra base separately. Roborock S8 pro ultra only works with its base, you can't buy a spare base for example. Then I bought a S7MaV plus and I can wash the mop and fill the tank by simply changing them from one unit to another. The modularity of the s7maxv allows combinations that roborock s8 cannot, without considering that in suction it obtains better results than the s8 pro ultra.

So basically the S7 MaxV Ultra is better in every way except for deep cleaning the carpet. I think I am going to keep the S7 MaxV Ultra for the moment, they really messed this one up.. non removable water tank and mop pad and no camera are deal breakers for me. I understand that camera can be a security issue for some, but I used it multiple times to check if we turned off the stove while away from home, or just to check if the windows are closed.
Can we see the hair pick up difference with both models using the 5-spin attachment vs the 3 part bristle? Also can we see that difference with them interchanged between the 2
Thanks ! I made a purchased a few weeks ago and lucked out with the S7 optimizations for my hard floors. Video feed and maps are great, though I would really like an option to use the robot as a mobile camera with motion controls and have it take higher resolution stills without the onboard light while stopped.
This remains a concern, so I use it only on the tiles. A robot cleaner can drag around particles in the mop unit during mop mode , though this an issue for any mop or hand roller cleaner. Perhaps the robot cleaner handles this issue better because it vacuums, then mops. It would be good to program allows more rinses of the mop per floor usage rather than asking the robot to do several passes.
I'm trying to decide between these two and a couple others at the moment and its a damn tough decision.. I have an S6 Pure at the moment and really want to upgrade to something a bit better with mopping and self-emptying features. I have pets which is a primary reason for using one in the first place. Which in your opinion would be better for pet fur around the house both on carpet and on hard floors?
I was ready to upgrade my S7 MaxV Ultra to the S8 Pro Ultra until I learned they took away the color web cam, love video streaming, and remote control abilities. Hopefully a future S9 brings those features back.
Great vid. Airflow is more important in my opinion than extra agitation, and particularly for both edge cleaning and long hairs. So, that really just leaves deep cleaning carpet performance, and in Vacuum Wars' test (whom I've found to be more rigorous and trustworthy than others), the dual brushes didn't seem to matter; S8 actually performed worse than the S7 MaxV, which surprised me-they speculated this is due to the lower airflow. Not going to upgrade this time. S8 MaxV next year maybe?
@Inys You know that there's a drying module add on for the S7 Ultra dock that's identical in drying performance, right? Does the same exact thing in the exact same time. 3 hours tops. So, you'd only be upgrading for one of those reasons, and for $1500? I'd advise against it and wait for a new model that's actually a big improvement, but it's your money dude!

This could open up possibilities for a replacement bracket for single brush mode on the S8 if it does indeed still run with a single brush.
It does work with one roller, but I don't think it improves the suction since the gap is larger. If someone could 3d print a roller cover with a smaller opening and make it possible to attach some kind of filling material where the roller is missing, then it could have a higher suction power than the maxv and also have a spare roller.
Not much has changed drastically. They could have done a software update instead of trying to sell us an identical product. My question is, can you use an s7 max ultra robot on s8 pro ultra base station? I do like the new s8 facade base station.
