Hi from Glasgow. Dr Gretchen,I love taking part in your videos, and thank you for you do for all us guys, but I've a wee problem.i had to give up my work,as I was continually straining muscles throughout my body. I've been working out with yourself, and I find myself with aching groin and leg pains, yet I'm only doing the easier small movement exercises, and I'm not overdoing it???wot could u suggest? x
Great question - Here is a podcast episode I recorded with Dr. Amy Novotny about pain management that I think you'll find helpful! Without an in-person evaluation it is difficult to provide a specific answer, but this episode is a great resource! open.spotify.com/episode/3N1PSMb4cJjmmQsn8ASzMe?si=4d8de4c2ff52413e
MSing link member here 🙋🏻♀️ what exercises can I look up in the program for balance issues when walking in large open areas? I don’t notice much issues at home since the space isn’t as big but stores can be challenging.
Hey there! We actually have a video discussing this in our MSing Link Facebook group! If you are not already a member of the group, please request to join, we will confirm your membership, and then you're in the group for life! This was initially recorded as a podcast episode, hence the audio-only description of the exercises & lack of exercise demonstration, but have no fear - I have lots of other TH-cam videos on my page where I demonstrate some great MS-specific balance exercises! And for anyone in The MSing Link, my online wellness program, there’s tons!
i feel like trying to define this in terms of one single cause is oversimplifying the problem. for me,, i believe it's the cumulative effect. if it was only one single thing holding back my mobility it would be simple. lol... it's like looking for a personal rubik cube solution that will solve it !!
Hi Dr Gretchen, thanks so much for the video. I've been trying to notice why I lose my balance since listening to it and I think I lose my balance when my attention is split. Like I can't walk and talk or walk and listen to music because walking requires all my attention. What functional exercises could I do to improve this? Thanks so much 😊
There is a playlist on my page titled "Walking Exercises for MS" and I also have some great programs available filled with functional exercises to help improve walking! You can check them out via my website here: www.doctorgretchenhawley.com
Not exercise group... I go to a Certified MS Dr of PT. They go through my own limitations and arias to improve and matin. What to avoid, and what to target. Sorry if it isn't super helpful. Following Nuroligist Dr with a referral and Dr order for insurance.
Thank you for sharing! That's great that you are able to see an MS certified PT in person. Many cannot, and that is what drove me to begin this channel, my other social media platforms, as well as my programs and courses.
I am so excited to join your program!!! I look forward to working with you 😁
Excited to have you!!
Thanks Gretchen. I’m still learning and adjusting to this MS lifestyle but I appreciate all you have to share✌🏾
You're most welcome! I'm so glad that you found my page and are enjoying the content!
