I've also found that when I am rushing to the bathroom because "I got to go" and I am all tensed up and focused on that I don't have enough capacity (cognitively or physically) to walk well. Every fiber in my body is tense so walking doesn't go well and mentally I just can't focus on walking as well
Thank you for sharing your experience!
Absolutely agree. The same happens to me.
Thank you so much for sharing the above. Very much needed rather
You’re absolutely amazing and so helpful with all of your valuable information!👍🎊❤️😎
Thank you for the kind words. Happy to hear this video is resourceful!
❤ 😢 Dr Gretchen I have all the above, and I just drink water that helps
Thank you for sharing! I hope these guidelines and exercises are helpful!
Last year I was having more and more bladder urgency and incontinence. Of course I totally blamed MS and figured this was just something I'd need to deal with. I had already been through pelvic floor therapy and that helped some but now moved on to prescriptions. Again- they helped some initially but I continued to worsen. At a tooth cleaning I pointed out that a tooth "felt weird" and while it looked ok on XRay a CT scan was done that showed a big abscess. The tooth was pulled and within a day, with the infection resolving, my bladder issues went away! My bladder issues were MS but only uncontrollable due to the impact of the infection- like a long-standing psuedo flare! Don't just give up and think everything is MS...sometimes you could have an infection or any other stressor that is lowering your "Neurological reserve" and the symptom worsens
Wow! Thank you so much for sharing! This is a great reminder of how much something like an infection can flare symptoms, and how getting that infection resolved can lessen or even eliminate some symptoms!
Thank you so much!!!It’s very helpful for me!
You're very welcome!
Hi, Dr. Gretchen. I am soooo behind on watching videos, but I'm current on your podcast episodes! 😊
How many times & how often do u recommend doing these exercises?
Thank You for all the info that you put out for everyone! I really appreciate the time & effort that you put in!!
I was diagnosed Dec. 2009 at 35, but it's suspected that I may have had it as early as late teenage years.
Great question - Here's a TH-cam video that I created answering that very question. Enjoy! th-cam.com/video/yGe3_SbaLBE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=XCcBAnvq-YxN_Q0Z
Thank you Dr. Gretchen. Such good information thank you for talking about this topic. All so very helpful for me thank you. Thank you so much for all of the information 😊
You're very welcome!
I deal with urgency that comes up. I have done many kegal exercises. I find planning to go every 2 hrs. It is affected with spasticity. I then could go two times in a 1/2 hr. Frustrating at times.
Thank you for sharing your experience!
I have all of those symptoms with MS disorder; neurogenic bladder, unable to void completely, urgency, etc. I would only use antibiotics for infection and then at a different time of day, would use acidophilus or another good probiotic. Intermittent catheterization and a prescription for bladder control have helped immensely. Appreciate this run through of the bladder guidelines and exercises!
You're very welcome! Thank you for sharing your experience!

Do you have any suggestions for a person who suffered a stroke two years ago and has severe incontinence during the night only, I can hold my urine in all day, but it actually I stand up out of bed and if I don’t have a pad on it runs down my leg sometimes all of my urine. It’s a very embarrassing situation, if there’s any advice, you could give me please reach out to me❤
My best advice would be to work directly with an in-person pelvic floor specialized physical therapist.
❤ This is a fantastic video! Thank you so much for sharing.
