A pro tip for anyone wanting a cheaper but sturdy aviary. Buy an old horse or cattle trailer off of places like Facebook. Or just ask around if anyone is selling these old trailers. It would take some elbow grease and work on your end to turn it into a proper space for the birds but it’s a cheaper alternative. (My grandad did that for his chicken coop) Also if possible, build your own! Raw materials are surprisingly cheap.
My macaw Opal was doing the baby noises with Shelby lol, Thankyou for the great video, I hope people who are considering one of these big feathered toddler will watch this.
Lovely aviary guys were looking for something like that for the front garden , I have the back mesh netted but theres so much to look at on a nice summer day out the front where I also like to sit so will be looking at the company you used..
No they dont need to be in a dark area, but birds do prefer corners rather that cages sitting in the middle of the room or against a window as they feel exposed. And I would never put anything _inside_ the cage that could be dangerous. A light could kill them if they chewed it. So make sure lights are positioned outside shining in.
i have a question i have a macaw and i was questioning the care i was giving him hes a 6 yr old blue and gold macaw and i have a cage thats 46"Lx36"Wx78"H is that big enough for him?
I see that you commented a year ago now but if you still have your macaw (and hopefully you do) I would recommend a bigger cage as much as you can afford for your bird (not so much you can’t make chop and get all the other necessities)
Stumbled upon your video and I am glad I have 😁 Shelby is absolutely beautiful. I bet she was so excited for her new area!
Welcome!! And yes she absolutely loves her space now!

Just make sure that it’s safe material

looks so nice !! great job ! but the room looks a little dark ? maybe you could add some UV light !
She free flies outdoors every day and so gets ample natural sunlight and natural UV rays 😍
Do macaw cages have to be in a dark area? If not, can I put a light bulb in there cage, safely, unless they r sensitive to light.

Where did you get the cage custom made?
Rosemead aviaries, they come up if you Google them
