    I’m not sold on the front design. I like the look of the headlights, and even though I’m not a big fan of divorced lights, I think it’s necessary for turn signals when LED lights are on - a lot of the time the headlights are brighter than the turn signal and you can’t see if someone is signaling to turn.
    That said, if I was loaded, I’d get one because… why not? Sounds like BMW actually made a comfortable road trip car that doesn’t have a pelvis shattering ride.

    • @georgedoolittle7574
      @georgedoolittle7574 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah the accent lights still totally suck ass *STILL* I agree...it's official. Need to be wrap around and maybe tear drop as absolutely *ZERO* flair go on here. Still as Flagship Sedan remain wholly impressed by the German offerings with only Cadillac still winning once excluding all of the marketing gimmickry.

    • @WaywardAnalysis
      @WaywardAnalysis ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The non M version BMW has always had one of the most comfortable ride found anywhere. It's the M and the ridiculous 21+ inch tires with aspect ratio of less than 45 that has created the pelvis shattering rides...not just for BMW but all vehicles. Tires and suspension system have more to do with comfortable ride than the combination of everything else....and low profile tires will always have stiff and pelvis shattering rides irrespective of the vehicle.

    • @BullittHilts
      @BullittHilts ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Couldn’t agree more. I was riding in a friend’s Telluride that had the 21” wheels and the ride was very disappointing. Jarring to say the least.

Between 23:02 and 23:05 you say 'I love the way the S Class drives' when you probably mean 'I love the way the 7-series drives', unless I've misunderstood. If it's a slip of the tongue, you could always add a visual on-screen correction. Excellent anyway.

    Niche opinion: As a tall driver, I can't wait for windshield mounted rear view mirrors to become a thing of the past. They constantly block a very relevant portion of my frontward view.
    (You have to duck under them to see things frequently which requires a disruption of your side views mirrors, rear view mirror, and distant front view).

    That front end is fugly, deal breaker, out of consideration. First Lexus went nuts with grills a few years back , now BMW with some of its models ?? Never bought a vehicle, quite a few in my 73 years, including BMW and Jaguar, that my eyes didn't fall in love with first. A lot of good high end design talent left Germany and England's marquis brands for Genesis, it's starting to show...........

    The 7 series and S Class use to be inspirational cars. But there's nothing in this car that appeals to me, at all. Screens everywhere, no buttons, no manual vent controls, plastic everywhere that will scratch very easily. And iDrive8 sucks. Climate control buttons are gone. Heated seats and ventilated seats are now have to be turned on / off in software. Even the HEATED STEERING WHEEL BUTTON is gone. No one can dispute that having to navigate a software menu to do simple tasks is safer than a switch you can locate and turn on, without looking, by memory. The fact the common sense has been lost around this is totally mind boggling. Kool Aid drinkers will say use voice commands. But the voice commands are slow and half baked, at best. You can easily press a button and have your attention back on the road before the voice command system is even ready to take your command.

    The front end looks weird, imo. I do like split-light designs, even on the Juke which sort of kicked off the modern trend, but it doesn't always work. Especially when a car is going for classy over cute. I think what they should have done is delete the top headlights, flattened off the top of the kidney bean grill so the black housing for the lights and grill has 1 continuous line across the top, and rake the hood more from the cowl to the front making the front end slightly lower in appearance. I think that would make it look reminiscent of the i8 which is appropriate for their flagship.

Its less precise than usual handling character is also a kowtow to the Chinese market, where the softest ride is king.

    @ethanmoore3774 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The front end is so ugly. I saw one in person and the first words out of my mouth were, “wow, its even uglier in person”. When we were complaining all BMW front ends have looked the same for the past 20 years, we didn’t mean make it look like BMW had a baby with a Hyundai. Its busy and just has bad aesthetics and proportions to me. Step in the wrong direction completely for me. On another note, I am really disliking the general trend in the industry to make rear LED turn signals do a fade in-and-out. The key advantage to LED arrays over previous halogen setups, besides brightness, was that instantaneous illumination. It is faster and was safer. It alerted drivers behind quicker, “Hey, I’m braking you should too” or “Hey, my hazards are on be cautious around me”. This fade in-and-out just gives me halogen rear turn signal vibes and I’m not a huge fan. BMW isn’t the only automaker doing this so this is kinda directed at all automakers going in this direction. Finally, I will never understand why automakers, who make cars globally, that need to make rear turn signals amber say in the EU jurisdiction, go ahead and swap them out for red signals in the US market. The German brands are the biggest offenders of this and BMW is no different in this model.

    I guess I'm getting to be an ole fart! 😇 I mean, I love tech, but for me this is just WAY over the top and over complicated with things that just seem gimmick-y, at least to me. Plus, I've personally heard the Master 7 Series Tech in my town "talking cars" with other other "car people", and he often says the 7 Series are really great during the first lease, but whoa to those sho buy them after the lease and warranty is over. The 2nd owner needs more money than the first owner. ha ha 🤣
    It kind of reminds me of my first car when I was young and really dumb (an '83 Isuzu Impulse... I know I know I will explain). In retrospect I should have bought a '84 Honda Prelude or a Toyota Supra for a few thousand more. But that Isuzu had those "Satellite Controls" all around the steering wheel, where a person could basically run everything on the car without taking a person's hands off the steering wheel. I thought it was so cool... and it was, until things started going wrong (like a row of lights on the center computer row). I thought, "oh that will be a cheap lil' bulb." WRONG it was going to cost $900 because there was no way to change the bulb. That is what finally did it for me. My next car was a slightly used '86 Honda CRX Si that I got from the Pacific Northwest Honda Parts Manager... it was quick, reliable, got great MPG's, handled great, and was super simple. So in a way, I'm glad my first car was a complicated piece of junk with a fuel injected Chevy Luv / Isuzu Truck motor. It saved me from working my up to complex stuff that will break from then on. 😇
