CORRECTION!, I mentioned servicing every 3000 miles but infact it's 6000 for an oil and filter change, but inspection at 3000!!! sorry about that. At least it's corrected here. Its all listed at 01:35 Thanks for watching the video.
Blimey “Steve”, you really pushed the boat out with this review. What a brilliant job you did. I was going to review it myself but now I don’t think I’ll bother, you’ve already covered everything ! When I get to ride one, I’m expecting to come to the same conclusion. Hopefully the high speed vibes will reduce over time but we will have to wait for people to put miles on one before knowing for sure. I’d say that it’s likely to be an upgrade for those 411 owners who ride the roads a fair bit and it will be a decent commuter / road bike for everyone else. The 411 should be the better choice for folks who do 70+% off-road with their Himalayan because it is cheaper to drop and the engine characteristics will be better on all but fast open trails. But well done, you covered everything and it was great to hear that you were impressed by it. Thanks for the mention. Norman is blushing ! I do indeed have one of the better Himalayan TH-cam channels for the French region, you’re not wrong ! Bon chance mon ami, y hasta luego 👍 ERII

It looks like a magnificent motorcycle at an optimal market price and with excellent consumption to be able to do miles and miles without breaking the bank account. Royal Enfield has managed to surpass the previous model that was already good although somewhat old. Of course, a motorcycle to start and not stop and go on broken roads full of stones. A 100% authentic adventure motorcycle. Thanks for this great video and take care.😊
lovely review Steve. I certainly am tempted with the 450 for my next bike, but I need to out grow the 411 first, as I believe I still have a bit to go in being able to push the 411 to its limits on the greenlanes. Thanks for the shout out👍
Don't worry about the screen flickering on camera, don't care. Looks are in the eye of the beholder, as they say.. Personally preferred the rugged looks of the old one. They actually listen to the most 411 complains and work treats on them.. Made tubeless version wheels too. The shims can't be adjusted, they must be changed with different thickness ones or grinded the old ones down if they are bigger.
Thanks Stefan, yes many will prefer the look of the old one for sure. It's still to this day a very popular bike. The tubeless option is what most will go for I reckon.
Great review Steve, don't know how I missed it. This and the Guerilla are great fun motorcycles and do like to be ridden harder than say the Classic 350 or 411. I enjoyed my test ride on the 452, the main thing stopping me is that I own a 411 and have modded it to suit me so I'm really comfortable on it and it has become a faithful friend. The 411 is cheap to service and run so makes it an ideal 2nd bike. RE are making some attractive bikes and the quality seems to improve with each new model.
Excellent review, thank you. My 411 is nearly three years old, this has persuaded me to book a test drive at my local dealer Haywards in Cambridge. That's a great colour on the test bike 😊
Let me know you're thoughts on here once you have a go if you would. I'd be interested in knowing. I think most 411 owners are happy with what they have . But then some will want to change.
I had a test ride. Shocked just how many boxes this bike ticked. I'm 6ft tall, seat in high position and i was sooo comfortable. Engine is great, power, gearing and clutch combination is really really good, surprisingly quick! Screen didnt bother me which is rare for me. Good steering lock, great brakes, light handling....i may just have to buy one.
I guess we're all different. Triples and fours put my hands to sleep. I mostly ride twins. Single cylinder vibes don't seem to bother me either. I didn't notice the vibes.... Maybe your bike needed the carb balanced? 😉🤣
Hi Steve, I've been looking for reviews on this bike, and yours was a great review, thank you, I really do like the look of this one and yousaid everything I wanted to know. Take care and ride safe.
Glad you confirmed what I was saying there Steve, I did question myself but yes, the engines I have owned with shims have never needed adjustment even at higher miles. Thanks
Great job, I live in Torquay and have been looking at this bike....Not been to CMS before but will pop in over the next couple of weeks to have a look at it. Don't worry about the service interval mistake.....I'm surprised you got all you have in that video.....VERY nicely made video! I will let you know if I buy it. Do they have any ready to go at CMS?
Thanks , They have this demo but I don't think they have any bikes in as yet....but do check that. They will be one of the first to get any pre-ordered bikes in for sure.
I’ve certainly anticipated your take on this bike. “Gateways and phone boxes” cheeky 🤣 It’s great to see how much you were enjoying yourself. That says so much more than the numbers. Somebody said the screen looks like Darth Vader, and I can’t unsee it 🫣 I saw one of these in the flesh for the first time today. Very impressed with the build quality and stying. Definitely a big step up from the 411. Still not tempted but would love a blast on one. Really good job ER 👌🏼 PS. Can’t recommend crash protection highly enough 😉
I wondered with the small screen whether they'd taken a leaf out of your book? As i remember, you cut yours down to cure the wind buffeting at head level
Ha yes, the saddle in me came out as soon as I hit the lanes,Thought I'd get you back for the tiling video comment ha!....glad you saw one today, impressive isn't it! I really hope you get on one ,I'm sure you will enjoy it! I see the Darth Vader thing now too! Crash bars wont be needed on tarmac of course like shown here, can't go wrong. Only an idiot would drop one on tarmac. Thanks SB
I've lived in Asia for 20 years but grew up in Kenton, so thanks the trips down memory lane when you park at Starcross. I'm torn between the Himi and the NC750. I'm going to be doing mostly daytrips on B roads but want to do a bit of off roading on dry mud lanes. Which bike would you choose?
Its hard to get the balence right isnt it. The Himalayan will be a better choice for a do it all bike....the money you save on the NC could be spent on a trip : )
A good balanced review - as ever from you. For me this is going into battle with the small adv bikes like Honda's 500x and the cheaper Chinese bikes. When you do your longer test it would be interesting to hear your view. I will still keep my old himmy though!! Hope to see you on the Shotgun soon as im seriously interested in one.
I think you're right there. Yes it could go up against the 500x , or the NX500 as it is now. Even though they are very different bikes the target market could merge due to both bikes being really good on the road.
Excellent content as are all your videos ER. I particularly liked the opening shot with you riding up on the bike, looked just right if you know what I mean. I'm also not a natural fan of the 450 to be honest but I will have to ride one myself now! Cheers, Sean
Hello Sean, yes I enjoyed it, for the money there isn't much out there (in the mainstream) that is like this. I think it's going to be quite popular when they get these bikes rolled out more.... Its taken long enough! Hope you're both doing well. I want to make a sunny video abroad like you two🌞🌞😂👍
I love the look of the old 411, this one not so much but 40 hp is a step up, still not selling my f650 gs for one though. Vibration, well its a single, thats what they do.
When I got back on to two wheels in 2020, my first bike was a CRF250 Rally, which I liked very much, although a bit tall for me at 5’6” with 29” inside leg. It was not all day comfort, after riding it to Groningen in The Netherlands (I was working out there) I felt like i had been to a Michael Barrymores party. A month later it was stolen. My next ride was a tiger 900 Rally Pro (I know, little legs, tallest bike) which I took all over europe with me. That went in on a Speedmaster Chrome in March 2023 (at last I can flat foot with ease), however I still have the urge to go off roading and green lanes are my target. This brings me up to the height issue again, the CRF300 is taller than its predecessor, Then Royal Enfield introduced the Himalayan 450 at an 825 seat height and I had to try one. I did and before leaving placed my order for the tubeless version, hopefully it arrives in May. Cannot wait to take it to the ABR and try to gain some off road-ish experience. Oh and I am 61 so may have left it a bit late to learn new tricks 🤣
I nearly spat my coffee out after reading the Barrymores party comment lol...Quinn peaks biker also has one on order and has had the delivery date pushed back a few times now...they say it will be May now ...I really hope it is !!! Great to hear your going to ABR on it...please say hello if/when you see me around....I'll be there as always. 60 is nothing mate, loads of rope left yet!! Thanks for watching.
@@exeterrider sure thing I have been to the ABR for the last 3 years, twice on my tiger, although it was too tall and heavy for me to risk the trail, then last year on my Speedmaster. Have you seen where they have put the VIP camping? Right over by the entry gate, will need a taxi back from the beer tent !!
Great video ER👍 had my deposit down for a while but here in France we are looking at delivery in June. Lovely to see some of the roads from my old stomping ground, darts farm, Topsham, Exeter arena etc. Looking forward to the next video👍😁
Best of luck! A friend of mine has had his delivery date put off twice now and should have had his in March , but now its May. Worth the wait but hope it arrives soon for you : )
Greetings from India! Tell me, how does the Himalayan 450 compare with the Honda NX500, particularly the suspension and low speed maneouverability? Here in India, the Honda is more than twice the cost of H450, I can afford the Honda, but will it be a gross waste of money, just for the lure of that lovely two cylinder engine?
To be honest they are both such good bikes but it really pends on what your looking for and your style of riding. Try both if you can and see start suits you the most👍
Thanks! 👍The thought has passed mind, but infact it will do what the NC does anyway pretty much so its a bit to close to the NC for me to be thinking of buying one and I don't do much offroad. Thanks
Thanks Jim, I have the NC which does the longer milage stuff so I think the Meteor will still be my "bike on the list" because its too close to what the NC and Beemer do...I do like it though as you can tell. Thanks very much : )
Very nice and seems to have a good turn of speed when needed. It’s a shame they can’t fit a better screen, hand guards and heated grips as standard as most riders will likely want such.
Yes the bigger screen would be handy, swings and roundabouts, heated grips is down to the individual I think and would add cost. I think where it's landed is a good place 👍
Interesting, thanks. I'm going to hold back before calling Chris for a test ride though - having too much fun on my 411, which I love. Enfield improved that bike each year, so I'm curious to see if they'll do the same with this - things like the vibration at motorway speeds might get smoothed out, and improvements to the silly windscreen as accessories arrive. Also, this 40hp, sub £6k class is starting to get to be a competitive sector - with the Triumph 400 and a half dozen other brands, so we might see more competition for it.
I think it's still the Meteor but only because I have the beemer and nc750x for the bigger miles and don't have time for off roading my own bikes. Thanks lily
Thanks Pete, yes I have used them before but I'm working with another upholstery company at the moment who are helping me out with a couple of things. Thanks for the heads up. Also as shown on the video RE do make a touring seat for it.
@@exeterrider so in essence the NX is more road biased so probably better for longer road journeys (being a twin may help too I suppose). Hmm may well have to visit CMS and Bridge!
I test rode one on Saturday. It's less tractor, more 4X4 compared to the original Himalayan . The larger drive sprocket on my Himmy makes a 70 mph cruise a lot less revvy and vibration inducing than the 450. Mine will be 3 years old this time next year, so will be replaced then. Not at all sure what with. Would prefer another tractor!
@@exeterrider I was out at north Cornwall motorcycles yesterday with sb73 Nick the duck mister Dave and Heath from lipgloss, we got to look over one identical to the one you had, I have to say it looks damn nice in the flesh! It’s tempting but I’d have to get rid of one of my bikes first, doubtful tbh! Perhaps when there are a few secondhand ones around I might consider it!
Will be eagerly waiting for Nathan Millward to get his hands on one and test it. Personally I think Royal Enfield have built a different kind of bike in the new Himalayan. The 411 is a bike for exploring no matter if that is on road or off road it’ll pretty much go anywhere and it’s got that bonus of being easy to work on. I think this new bike is for mostly road riding and has some capability off road as well. But without that low down chug, and one thing nobody has spoken about as yet, is how high the weight is carried. On the 411 it’s all quite low but it suspect this bike will carry its weight much higher up, which will have an impact when it comes to off road riding. I’m sure it’ll be a big hit for RE, but when the CFMoto 450 comes out, I’m sure there’ll be some that will be left wondering if they made the right decision.
Thanks for watching. Yes the new 450 is a very different bike for sure. I edited out some of my thoughts on the off-roading side of things because it was only very light off road, but I could tell that for me it should do pretty well. 200mm travel "decent" suspension and also a stronger/yet lighter turn on the bars to get the 21inch front to turn seems to be a winner. It feels heavier on top for sure which is good for road riding (in this case) ,it's width dimensions are more narrow and you can grip the tank with your knees more naturally. I will be taking one off road soon when I get one of the press bikes. But I didnt want to risk denting this one ! ha! I'm not really a CF moto fan. Too many issues in the past which many dont mention but will come to light over time.
Nice looking bike. Great review too. Shame RE couldn’t have included hand guards in the price, just to complete the bike. RE just keep going from strength to strength. A very tempting future purchase.
I'd like to see a comparison between this and the CF Moto 450MT. I'm surprised it sounded similar to my 125 when you were joining the dual carriageway.
Looks a better bike than the 411 and I’m sure it will sell well and I hope it will for RE but I’ve finished with adv bikes now but for the price I think very fair pricing but you still get what you pay for out of the range of royal Enfield I like the shotgun and meteor that’s where my heart is now at my age anyway great video can’t wait for the next one bye for now ride safe take care 👋
It's a great looker IMO aswell Steve,so will look forward to seeing you out on another 1 in the future! 😎👍 I'd planned on buying a Triumph Tiger 400,before I discovered they weren't producing 1 & now I'm wondering if RE will/are physically able to squeeze 1 of their 650's in this, since Triumph weren't able, due to the way their 400's mount in the frame! 🤬🤣✌️
Thanks John👍 A few have said about putting in the 650 in the classic 350 frame or this 450, but for me it just wouldn't work. The 650 lump is more suited to the Shotgun, Meteor and alike , I think it could make it too lumpy...What I'd like to see is a 650 single like the BSA. I can sell you a Tiger 400, but it may take a while to get in my shop😂
My take on this bike after a three hour test drive on a 600 mile run in bike is it’s a great bike but let down ironically by the engine ! Us 411 owners mainly wanted a bit more power maybe for duel carriageways or motorways to get to those areas to explore. At 70 it’s sooo buzzy. So bad the mirrors are useless. 10-15% over 70 and the vibes go …. 60 the vibes aren’t there. The sat nav feature kills your phone battery. The side stand is way too short …. Smaller riders ( me) will have a problem getting it off the side stand when loaded with luggage. The screen isn’t ideal again 5’6” puts the air directly on my visor. A great next step but I’ll be keeping my 411 as doing the lanes the 411 is perfect. Interesting to see how it goes off road. All my views of course I respect others may find different
Thanks very much for that....its good to hear from someone who has ahad a ride on one as well....I dont think its a big enough jump to trade in the 411 because most 411 owners really like there bike and so they should. I find all sat navs that link via bluetooth zap batterys, the tripper nav was a little like that too. I'm still hoping those vibes will go after 2k or so but time will tell. Yes the mirrors are not very good agreed. Thanks for your input : )
@@exeterrider I really wanted it to be the ‘ unicorn’ bike. Its very good and if I only had one bike ( with the right accessories and tubeless wheels ) it could well be this one. As I have the DCT NC and the 411 this bike falls between the two ( for me) But hopefully after some miles the vibes will settle off… but that side stand is an issue as well as the lack of low seat. Good review btw sorry I didn’t say that in my first reply.
I had an hour and half test ride and couldn't agree more. It isn't a bad bike but it isn't as good as everyone is saying (or wants it to be). Mirror/screen/sidestand are all poor. The seat is rock hard and very uncomfortable. The engine is very buzzy, you couldn't sit at higher speeds for long. It really isn't a touring bike. Its a back land dawdler with some gentle green lanes. I prefer the looks of the old bike.
@@5uspectD3vice glad it’s not just me… I thought I was being a bit hard on it. The side stand is a real issue for shorter riders Take away the extra power from the engine as it’s not really useable at continued higher speeds due to the vibration the 411 at £3,800 otr is superb value for money. Add in the offer of £1000 trade in for my 2020 411 ( 17k on the clock) makes keeping the proven reliable home serviceable 411 an easy decision for now. Hopefully they’ll run in and loose the vibes. The lack of lower seat on the options and that side stand may well keep me away for this year.
Sorry, this didnt flag up on my feed! Its a total different bike, the Himalayan feels much more suited for rough offroad, but the CL500 is just a road bike in my eyes. Thanks : )
WOW, 6 month servicing... My Beta enduro bike requires less servicing LOL (mainly due to how much/little I ride it). I love the look of this colour option, although is a shame that the optional tubeless wheels are not the same colour. It looks like it fits you well, and a nice touch that it has a centre stand stock. It has def grown on me since sitting on one at EICMA last year, a little lighter than my Aprilia Tuareg 660 and a lot lower too. The 3000 mile service interval is the same as the upcoming CFMoto MT450 Rally, so it is in the ballpark... I think the CFMoto valve check is at 24,000 miles though which keeps the cost of servicing down on that, and it has a 5yr waranty iirc too, not sure what the RE has? It'll def sell like hot cakes.
It will fly off the shelf. Yes you're right 3000 is pretty much the norm, its only some of the Japanese brands that have 8k servicing and some even 10 now....I would still do it at every 5 though myself. 3 year warranty on this one to my knowledge. Note pinned comment Pete
This new bike looks so much better than the old one (apologies to their owners) Not for me as I'm addicted to 100+bhp road bikes but it looks decent and well priced Nice review 👌
Many of our Tuber friends have them ...funny isn't it : ) Maybe we will be greeted with eggs when we roll up to the ride out ha.! Thanks for watching : )
One Nigel the say there’s not a tank bag that’s fits is this right has someone got one that fits, they say in India they ride on the back brake all the time hence the big pedal
I will be testing this one, my main priority is suspension, it has to be comfortable on bumpy roads. I like my Meteor but the ride is so hard it's breaking my back!
I have Hagon shocks made for my weight but still not much different. I think it's down to the seat position and not much suspension travel. Anyway I will set the Himalayan soft on the test and see how it goes.
Had it for testing all morning so I did quite a few miles on it. Seat is hard and numb bum arrived after an hour. I hit the footpegs with my legs when I put my feet down. The wind noise coming from that screen is horrendous at over 50mph and that's with earplugs! Suspension worked well on bumpy roads.Overall I was not impressed with the bike and when I got back on the Meteor it felt so comfortable, bit bumpy and less powerful yes but I'll be keeping it.
@@jamesbarrie2458 good to get your take on it, thanks for letting me/us know. I haven't heard many others saying about the seat, and I found it tally hard so its good to hear someone with me on that... Thanks for coming back 👍🙏
They are too different to state of one's better than the other and they both offer very different things. I still love the meteor but this is very nice too in its own right 👍
@@exeterrider I’m just after a reasonably priced bike to do the Iam/Rospa course on. Comfort is king which I guess is the meteor, but motorway speed is a worry
Motorway on the meteor is really comfortable as long as you stay in lane 1 or 2 then your fine and the bike handles it will. The meteor is a winner all round I think 👍
@@exeterrider Hmm..? you might want to double-check your facts... unless you are referring to oil level checks, which should be made at such intervals on pretty much any vehicle..🧐 Oil change is at 10 000km. & keep in mind, that's with a semi-synthetic oil..🤨
😂👆 Anything faster than a RE would be too much for me. I'm still waiting for you to send my plane tickets, although I'm booked in for the same bike your dragging across the flats in July for 3 weeks😉😉. I'm not sure where the nearest salt flats are in Exeter though.
When I test rode it, I felt pronounced buzz after about 5K RPM or about 85Kmph till about 6K RPM or about 118Kmph, did you find any such buzz. I test rode the first produced ones in India. Also, nice detailed review.
Is it bad that I'm thinking I probably won't get it because the screen flashes on the gopro footage? I think the 411 is a good 2nd bike but most will struggle to live with it as their only bike. Do you think people are more likely to be able to live with the 450 as their only bike?
I thought the same with the flashy screen but infact if you change the HZ then it should sort that out. Yes for me, I could live with a 40hp Himalayan as an only bike....my NC is only 50 something. Thanks
Good review thanks. Not my cup of tea as I dont like Adv's But the price puts it on a par with other small capacity ADV's and I think that could be a problem. Enfields are well known for being super value for money. Loose that and imho its biggest market may be lost .
Vibration is definitely an issue on this bike.... had mine on order for nearly six months, and it was due in next week. I went and tested the dealer demo, and found the engine needs to be in exactly the right gear to avoid lugging and vibration..... handling and ride is very good but not the motor...... cancelled my order. Was disappointed in this, after waiting so long.
Thanks for sharing, sorry to hear you're disappointed. I quite liked the motor TBH. Shame it came to that but you did the right thing. I hope you find something else that ticks the boxes.
Too late now but if get the same problem again, if you set the framerate of the camera to a multiple of the refresh rate of the screen, it should stop. So if the screen is 50hz, you could set the camera to 50fps or 100fps.
@@CuriousGooseMoto sensible mate, 125s still do the job well. A mate had a cf moto, he's got rid now, had loads of trouble so I'm not convinced as many others are.
I have just tested the 450 Himalayan over a few days and no way it does 90% of its power between 3-4000 rpm - thats quite a claim for an engine that puts put its max BHP very close to the red line. It does start to put out usable power above 5000rpm though and builds power in a nice linear way, but low down grunt is not one of the traits of the RE450.
@@exeterrider Overly optimistic marketing people are probably the root cause of such a hilarious claim. It is also marketed with words like "Enduro" which is wildly exaggerating what this bike is good at. The funny thing is, there is no point in exaggerating the performance of the RE450 because it is actually a fine bike for road and adventure riding and at a good price too. I am sure we'll a lot see more Enfields on the roads in the coming years. Cheers from Denmark..
I really like the look of this and for the price your getting a lot of bike for your money looks nice with the gold wheels little GS look alike Great review mukka
I hope you try one TBH, for the money you get a lot and also it has more chracter than many other bikes....maybe a ride at ABR on the trails? I'll join you on that one.
I’ve watched quite a few video reviews on this and decided I wouldn’t be interested due to the vibration and side stand issues. I took the much loved Triumph 400x out and whilst I loved it in the flesh it was not my cup of tea and vibrated. TH-cam videos shouldn’t colour your opinion before you have tried a bike yourself. I rode the 450 and didn’t find the side stand or vibration deal breakers and liked the riding position too. I am getting long in the tooth and suspect the 450 might be my next purchase. The SM 650 is also on the list.
Yes I expect so, but I've been put off that brand since a friend of mine has a 650 cf moto and has had nothing but problems with it. He gave up on the end and now owns a Cb500x.
I think you get a lot of bike for the money if you spin that out over 10 years it’s quite good even compaired to a car ,but good luck on the pommy weather
The flicker is caused by the camera shutter and the screen refresh being out of synch with each other. Nothing to be done. The effects with propeller aircraft or helicopters can be hilarious 😂
Royal Enfields 2 times a year Service Bs. makes me not wanna ever buy one 😲 Fuel. service. and every thing els goes up in price. thats why. Great review. Thanks Exeter Rider 😀
@@exeterrider Thanks the same to you. yeah i think there is a RE in Hamburg. thats 2 or more hours from me place. plus fuel just got up to around 2 euro pr Liter 😲
Its a lovely bike but for me i think i would have liked all those engine bolts in black not silver they just stick out too much. Thats the only thing id change.
Yes agreed, like all my Royal Enfields, mine will only be going back for its 1st and 2nd oil changes (just because its a new engine/ model). After that, I'll take over servicing it myself.. because I don't like others working on my bikes.
i'd like to see one in the flesh, maybe i will one day 😉 You mentioned the slim profile of the tank, I'd give them full marks for that, it helps no end on the dirt with body lean and the ability to flip the bike to one side or the other. R/E have obviously given that a bit of thought. I think they've raised their game considerably from what i hear...... However a couple of channels that i sub to, namely "Rest Day Rider" & " An Idiot on Board" were a little underwhelmed and disappointed with it. We'll see, time will tell.
Were they , thats intresting, I kinda can't think why tbh, maybe ill take a look. Yes the whole bike has been though out well I think. I would really find it intresting to what you would think if you had a go : )

I'm not sure why, but many people missed this one somehow. TH-cam error maybe.
Thanks for watching it though 👍
Thanks for sharing, you have the same opinion as me then. I thought it was absolutely superb! apart from motorway vibes. Great bike!
I guess we're all different. Triples and fours put my hands to sleep. I mostly ride twins. Single cylinder vibes don't seem to bother me either. I didn't notice the vibes.... Maybe your bike needed the carb balanced? 😉🤣
Great video, I think they've nailed it with this bike, seems to be streets ahead of the old one.
I think so too. And the pricing is still realistic. 👍
Hi Steve, I've been looking for reviews on this bike, and yours was a great review, thank you, I really do like the look of this one and yousaid everything I wanted to know. Take care and ride safe.
@@paulegan7250 Thanks Paul, it has its niggles, but for the money and where it can take people out works for me 👍
Owned lots of Japanese bikes with shims. Never had to change a single one.
Glad you confirmed what I was saying there Steve, I did question myself but yes, the engines I have owned with shims have never needed adjustment even at higher miles. Thanks
Agreed
Great job, I live in Torquay and have been looking at this bike....Not been to CMS before but will pop in over the next couple of weeks to have a look at it. Don't worry about the service interval mistake.....I'm surprised you got all you have in that video.....VERY nicely made video!
I will let you know if I buy it. Do they have any ready to go at CMS?
Thanks , They have this demo but I don't think they have any bikes in as yet....but do check that. They will be one of the first to get any pre-ordered bikes in for sure.
Great review mate. One of the best I’ve seen for that bike.
Thanks! very much👍
Well it's the actual best vid I've ever seen on this model...Being the only 1 I've watched Graham mate! 😜🤣👍

Your preload on the back as being adjusted up 2 notches to make it stiffer so you could back that off to a softer setting.
Yes exactly👍
Really enjoyed your review on Himalayan 450. The black and gold. May the tubeless tyres
Thanks very for much taking the time to watch this.
You can adjust tire pressure on tubed tires , I wouldn't recommend that with tubeless ones.
I’ve certainly anticipated your take on this bike.
“Gateways and phone boxes” cheeky 🤣
It’s great to see how much you were enjoying yourself. That says so much more than the numbers.
Somebody said the screen looks like Darth Vader, and I can’t unsee it 🫣
I saw one of these in the flesh for the first time today. Very impressed with the build quality and stying. Definitely a big step up from the 411. Still not tempted but would love a blast on one.
Really good job ER 👌🏼
PS. Can’t recommend crash protection highly enough 😉
I wondered with the small screen whether they'd taken a leaf out of your book? As i remember, you cut yours down to cure the wind buffeting at head level

I see the Darth Vader thing now too!
Crash bars wont be needed on tarmac of course like shown here, can't go wrong. Only an idiot would drop one on tarmac.

I bet they did. No credit given either 😳
Nice review, ER. Can hardly wait to have a go on one myself
I'll look forward to hearing what you think of it.
From Oz, ride a drz400, all tricked up for desert ridingthinking of buying this bike when I get to UK, for touring this summer, good review.
It would be a very good choice I think. I'd imagine the drz is really good for the dirt. Id like to have a go on one, great fun. 👍
Great review Steve .All in all a dam fine bike very tempted by one of these .
Good choice... Try one, I found it really impressive 👍
I want to make a sunny video abroad like you two🌞🌞😂👍
Well that's the best review I've seen in a while. Excellent.
Wow, thanks!
And I bought one! Brilliant bike. Touring screen coming today.
I love the look of the old 411, this one not so much but 40 hp is a step up, still not selling my f650 gs for one though. Vibration, well its a single, thats what they do.
Yes the 650 GS has a following...yeap singles vibrate, but I must admit, this was quite excessive ...but in time it should die down a bit I hope.
Did you just assume his/hers gender ? One you never ask their weight !

Try both if you can and see start suits you the most👍
Now that’s an intriguing option to put alongside my NC750DCT. Nice quick review ER👍🏻
Thanks! 👍The thought has passed mind, but infact it will do what the NC does anyway pretty much so its a bit to close to the NC for me to be thinking of buying one and I don't do much offroad. Thanks
Really interesting video mate, great to hear your thoughts! Great video, thank you!
Thanks Quinn, your video is linked in here too hence the mention : )
@@exeterrider thank you!!
A top quality review on what should be a worthwhile upgrade to the 411. Will it be the one, ER?
You are right there, its getting very competitive...I'm not sure there is much in this zrea that will go where this one does thuogh
It's quite a nice looking bike. Is it going to score higher on the Exeter Rider Lovability meter than the Meteor 🤔
I think it's still the Meteor but only because I have the beemer and nc750x for the bigger miles and don't have time for off roading my own bikes. Thanks lily
TFI Motor Trimmers, Marsh Barton, are good at altering motorcycle seats.
Thanks Pete, yes I have used them before but I'm working with another upholstery company at the moment who are helping me out with a couple of things.
Thanks for the heads up.
Also as shown on the video RE do make a touring seat for it.
Good review. Thanks!
Pleasure thanks for watching it 🙏👍
How would you compare this to the NX500 or are they totally different beasts?
Totally different mark.... The Himalayan will handle much tougher terrain and feels a bigger bike overall.
@@exeterrider so in essence the NX is more road biased so probably better for longer road journeys (being a twin may help too I suppose). Hmm may well have to visit CMS and Bridge!
@@markwoodman122 exactly... I would advise seeing/trying both.... You may be surprised.... Tough decision that for sure 👍
Maybe you have found this out in later videos, but the camera does a much better job with the TFT in dark mode.
Yeap, found out too late lol Thanks though
I test rode one on Saturday. It's less tractor, more 4X4 compared to the original Himalayan .
The larger drive sprocket on my Himmy makes a 70 mph cruise a lot less revvy and vibration inducing than the 450.
Mine will be 3 years old this time next year, so will be replaced then.
Not at all sure what with. Would prefer another tractor!
There is only one proper tractor, the 411👍🚜
Ideal for Devon lanes. CMS is good dealership too.

Me too, I'm glad I tried it and it didn't disappoint. 👍
Well done....... a very comprehensive and useful review.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks very much 👍
Will be eagerly waiting for Nathan Millward to get his hands on one and test it.
Good review. Would love a comparison with the NX500 in that vid.
Good idea that, I may consider doing that
NX500 более дорожный, больше для асфальта, Гималайский для плохих дорог, ну и цена очень разная :)
Nice looking bike. Great review too. Shame RE couldn’t have included hand guards in the price, just to complete the bike. RE just keep going from strength to strength. A very tempting future purchase.
Couldn't agree more!
I'd like to see a comparison between this and the CF Moto 450MT. I'm surprised it sounded similar to my 125 when you were joining the dual carriageway.
Peppy single cylinder, yes they kinda do sound the same.
You are exactly right, when I test rode it I thought it sounded more 125 than 450. That's one of the things that made me cancel my order for one.
Hi yes, the Meteor and Shotgun are up my street too...The shotgun is high on my bikes I'd like to try!
It's a great looker IMO aswell Steve,so will look forward to seeing you out on another 1 in the future! 😎👍
I'd planned on buying a Triumph Tiger 400,before I discovered they weren't producing 1 & now I'm wondering if RE will/are physically able to squeeze 1 of their 650's in this, since Triumph weren't able, due to the way their 400's mount in the frame!
Enjoyed my test ride but it's no replacement for the original - way too revvy.
I am the same height as you with a 33 inside leg. So, knowing you were flat footing is essential for me because I am so clumsy

Note pinned comment Pete

wind noise coming from that screen is horrendous at over 50mph and that's with earplugs! Suspension worked well on bumpy roads.Overall I was not impressed with the bike and when I got back on the Meteor it felt so comfortable, bit bumpy and less powerful yes but I'll be keeping it.

Not my cup of tea as I dont like Adv's
But the price puts it on a par with other small capacity ADV's and I think that could be a problem.

Loose that and imho its biggest market may be lost .
Couldn't agree more Lee, the standards are still going up yet the price in comparison doesn't seem to be.

Setting the frame rate to 50 fps seems to fix the flickering.
Thanks, yes I learnt this after I filmed this👍
Vibration is definitely an issue on this bike.... had mine on order for nearly six months, and it was due in next week.

I agree with what you're saying there...I couldn't quite grasp what they were saying about that. I thought it was just me.
@@exeterrider Overly optimistic marketing people are probably the root cause of such a hilarious claim. @@EpicMotorcycleAdventures are you going to the SB rideout this year?
@@exeterrider I’ve got my daughter that day. I’m debating if to go and bring her along.
@@EpicMotorcycleAdventures that would be good. See how it goes...if its a nice day then all the better isnt it.
Test rode one last week. Couldn't fault it, even the horn sounds beefy!
T?hgey ahve done a lot right on this bike, glad you enjoyed it as well.
The new Himalayan looks like an upgrade in every way.
Thanks mate ,I think so.
Im 5'8" too how about your weight? This review gives me on how big and proportion my body on that bike..
About 16 stone in weight, it handles me just fine 👍
I really like the look of this and for the price your getting a lot of bike for your money looks nice with the gold wheels little GS look alike
Great review mukka
I hope you try one TBH, for the money you get a lot and also it has more chracter than many other bikes....maybe a ride at ABR on the trails? I'll join you on that one.
@@exeterrider oooooo that would be good it’s looks like a bit of you if I’m honest
@@thepeakybiker If I didnt have the NC and beemer which does a similar thing then yes.
Yeap, I always above people have their own test for sure.
Thanks for watching 📺👍
Gateway with a view or old phone boxes! 😮
That’s a poke at our fellow motorcyclist & Tuber 🤣🤣🤣
Ride Safe Ride NC
DCT Dave & Butty Bach 🙂
You I got it Dave, I was getting him back for having a pop at my DIY vids😂😂😂
I think that this things main competition could be the new Cfmoto 450 which is due shortly
Yes I agree, it's good value for money 👍
For me, this new bike has lost the distinctive Royal Enfield style of the original. As ever ER great review and nice location choices.
Thanks Andy, yes we are lucky down here....so many nice places to film! Good to see you and the beast today : )
The flicker is caused by the camera shutter and the screen refresh being out of synch with each other. Nothing to be done. The effects with propeller aircraft or helicopters can be hilarious 😂
Yes, I tried to adjust the. Hand made no difference, I don't think they were thinking of Motovloggers when they made that screen🤔😂.
Royal Enfields 2 times a year Service Bs. makes me not wanna ever buy one 😲
Fuel. service. and every thing els goes up in price. thats why.
Great review. Thanks Exeter Rider 😀
Yes I see where you are with that. Thanks for watching again. Have a good week : )
@@exeterrider Thanks the same to you. yeah i think there is a RE in Hamburg. thats 2 or more hours from me place. plus fuel just got up to around 2 euro pr Liter 😲
Sadly not in the states , maybe get it next year 😕😕.
Hopfully 👆👍
Its a lovely bike but for me i think i would have liked all those engine bolts in black not silver they just stick out too much. Thats the only thing id change.
Fair comment Lee, Thanks for saying, its good to get different peoples prospective.
@@exeterrider You are most welcome.
Still undecided on these, to me it looks "skinny" 😂
The servicing intervals are shite @3k as well.
Seems to go better than I imagined though 👍
Don't laugh but when I first saw it the first thing that came to mind was the GPz305. I think I eat too much cheese before bed.
I eat to much before bed too!
It's a really good bike 👍
I think 3k for 2nd service..than 10k each
Yes agreed, like all my Royal Enfields, mine will only be going back for its 1st and 2nd oil changes (just because its a new engine/ model). After that, I'll take over servicing it myself.. because I don't like others working on my bikes.
…. One other thing the lower seat seems to have been dropped from the accessories for now.
3k intervals is a put off...a cheaper bike offset by higher running costs 🙃
I pinned a comment at the top...it's 6k intervals not 3k : )
i'd like to see one in the flesh, maybe i will one day 😉 You mentioned the slim profile of the tank, I'd give them full marks for that, it helps no end on the dirt with body lean and the ability to flip the bike to one side or the other.
I would really find it intresting to what you would think if you had a go : )
Royal Enfield Really have knocked this one out of the park looks wise. I wish they had stuck their 650 motor in it.
I think that may happen in time. But the 650 motor will make it a bit of a lump I think. 450 it's nice, for me 👍
90% FROM 3000 rpm..🧐🧐
Yes correct : )
Correction: Most anticipated bike in 2024 is CFMoto MT450
CF moto have nowjere near the presence of RE...a mate of mine had a MT650....nothing but trouble sadly.
