Are you spying on me, Kevin? This is the third time I have a specific issue with office and you come up with a video about it a week after. I was just wondering last week how come it's not possible to insert images to cells in such an advanced product as excel. Got my answer. Amazing! Loves your videos. They are really helpful.
This comment does not pertaining to the contents of your video. I was looking for a tutorial on how to change my channel name and out of three creators, you were the most concise and to the point with no additional BS. Thank you! I had no idea it was simple enough.
Each storage product surfaces the url differently, based on permissions. Personal OneDrive (share icon or option, set permission level and copy link). Viewability starts with the user’s access for that url. The image is not part of the excel file, the cell is basically a web browser bookmarked to that one page.
I've been looking for a solution to this for a long time now, but didn't find anything satisfactory. This helps a great Kevin. Can you also share if there's any way we can add images without online sources, like upload from a folder.
Adding images from your own computer is, of course, the only useful application. I have the same need as you have. And, many images from online will not be accepted by this Image-function. A pitty.
Question: Does this mean I cannot use an image on my computer? I'm creating an inventory sheet and I've taken pics I'd like to have with it. Thank you!
The Image feature is great, but for now, seems you must be an Office Insider to have access to and use it. I updated my Office 365 and still don't have the new Image function. I was all hyped up to use it for a spreadsheet I am doing that needs photos, but I am not an Office Insider, so no access. Bummer!! Hopefully, it will be rolled out soon.
Hi Kevin, thanks it was very useful trick but how do i have this fubctiob (IMAGE) in my excel? I tried to use it but my excel doesn't support that! I have newest version of iffice 365.
Waaaah! I don't have IMAGE as a selection. Closest option is "IMAGINARY." Have a Microsoft 365 subscription and am using Excel 16.64 on a Mac. Wha' happened??
Hey bro do you have any idea about the outlook verification mouse and cheese problem? I have an MS 365 family subscription but I could not make a new outlook account. I need help.
Wonder why it's not available in my install. I have a version later than the one MS says you need. Availability The IMAGE function is available to Insiders running the following Beta Channel builds: Windows: Version 2209 (Build 15608.10000) or later I have Version 2211 build 15831.202089
Mine hadn't updated in the last 2 years, I finally got it updated uninstalling & reinstalling, but even with most recent version & Beta Insider, I still didn't have the Image function. It turned out, for me anyway, that many updated things weren't accessible to me because of a couple not checked boxes in Options. Once I went to: File > More... > Options > General > Privacy Settings > and checked, "[ ] Turn on all connected experiences", which also auto checks everything above it in the Connected Experiences section, then all the updated list of things including the Image Function were available and working. Of course maybe yours is checked & something else. Just putting in case it might help save someone time getting it to finally work.
I can't find this function in my Office365 desktop Excel, nor in Excel online on my Windows laptop. When I open the function window, IMAGE is not listed and not found when I search for it either. Help?
Oh, right at the end you mention you have to be part of the Office Insider program to find this feature. It would be good if you could mention that at the start.
Apparently the image function is still being rolled out but only to people who are part of the insider programme, the rest of us will have to wait a while.
Kevin how do you get your logo or whatever it is called on your TH-cam video channel. The small round picture with your name next to it, beneath your video on the right? It also shows how many subscribers you have. I cannot find any TH-cam video that shows how to do this and am about to start my own channel. I already have a logo ready to use. Thanks.
Hi - Excel has always had the ability to insert images into cells, but it does not currently work with Excel online. Presumably, this video is showing a new addition which will also work with Excel online?
When you are doing these tutoria,l please can you indicate the version and build of the software you are using. Because the Microsoft 365 Apps for Business - Microsoft Excel (Version 2208 Build 15601.20088), cannot do this, or do i need specific template.
Thank you . It is nice to learn something new from time to time. Is it possble to make two sheets in one excel workbook, one for picures and use them as a reference on the other sheet because I do not want to put or copy pictures from online? thx
Excellent video and very useful. I have a doubt though. Can I use the image in my personal Google drive or onedrive to embed this way? And if yes, if I sent the file to someone else, would they be able to view the pics? Thanks
I m looking for a solution to embed an image in EXCEL MAC into a cell. By double clicking the little image I like to raise it big as the screen is. Any solution for that ?
Hi Kevin, I have learnt alot useful skills in excel with your video. Thanks. I have a question regarding this topic for inserting image in Excel Cell. I tried to use the insert function but when select a function where I type Image there is no results shown. May I know what I can do to include this? I even resort to use formula =image.... but no Image formula comes out. Also, I was wondering if these cells can be use in the same cells as texts like a description of the image and then the image? Thanks in advance.
Excellent. I was using a macro (yuck!) to insert images into cells from a database application. This will make it much easier to not only add them into a non-macro enabled Excel file but also have the images participate in interactive changes such as the sort/filter that you showed. Thank you.
Thanks for video. When I try this the dialog box where I typed "image" comes back with "Please rephrase your question". I do not get the "image" function as a choice in the select a function dialog box. What version of software is required to have the image function? Thanks
I love the subtle humor you add! Needing to work on your fortune cookie recipe 😅 Thanks for all your amazing tips. You make it easy to see how your tips and tricks can be implemented into personal needs.
Try using a Google Drive link instead but you probably need to set the link to be shared with everyone that clicks on the link. (I don't have Microsoft Insider so I can't test this yet).
How to add image from local disk? I cannot find the buttons from the explanation of Microsoft, without any screenshot as always... Actually the "Place in cell" option doesn't exist in my Excel on Mac.
I don't see this function, even when I try to search for it like you did in the video. I tried the web version and it's not there either. This is a great tip though and I like your videos!
Hi Kevin, are there any caveats to use apart from Office Insider? I am signed up as a Office 365 user and Office insider beta but still no IMAGE functions available. Perhap I need to be in the USA :)
Same, I also don't have an image function it comes back with "Please rephrase your question" changed select category to all and looked through alphabetically and there is no image function to select
Hello Kevin, thank you for yet another great video. I have a couple of questions I really hope you can share your expertise on - 1) Is it possible to create a Drop Down List in so when a particular option is chosen from the list an image appears instead of the option text itself? 2) Using a Drop Down List, can I create a unique comment (example: Associated SKU) that is tied to whichever option is chosen from the drop down list? Thank you for your time.
You can also present it as a comment (or known as "note" in later versions), by editting the whole overlay's background as the picture. It is kinda tricky to set up, but it saves space and it looks so pro.... Credit to the instructor who shared this in a Excel VBA course (who also taught me the shorthand variable initialization in VBE)
Can I ask a question please. Since i disabled online speech recognition i now get an annoying popup bar that tells me to switch on online speech recognition, it is so annoying it covers the address bar, can that popup be disabled please. Thanks.
Thanks a lot for the tutorial. Not able to find the option IN Office 365. I am actually intrested in exporting the image file to Power BI by using the hyperlink of picture on desktop excel app.

Do you have a number that I can use to call you and try having you guide me to tell me how to fix my channel chat and my channel screen
Or at least that's how I think it would work. Unfortunately, my new version of Insider Excel doesn't have the ability to enter IMAGE :(
Image function not yet available in my Office 365 version
This is why I love this channel: Useful, short and easy explained.
Learning never gets dull with you, Kevin! Truly appreciate all the effort!
Thanks!
I love this channel ever since it rescued my laptop.

Thank you, and interesting tutorial. But, how does one create such a URL link for an image that one has in their personal photo storage?
It would be the address you find in File Explorer; or if you use OneDrive, use that URL.
Each storage product surfaces the url differently, based on permissions. Personal OneDrive (share icon or option, set permission level and copy link). Viewability starts with the user’s access for that url. The image is not part of the excel file, the cell is basically a web browser bookmarked to that one page.

Adding images from your own computer is, of course, the only useful application. I have the same need as you have. And, many images from online will not be accepted by this Image-function. A pitty.
Same question, this seems odd to me considering a common scenario would include photos of altering inventory and internal.
Great, great, great Thank you very much.
Question: Does this mean I cannot use an image on my computer? I'm creating an inventory sheet and I've taken pics I'd like to have with it. Thank you!

What if the image is in a folder on my desktop? how do i create an online source for the image i created? Thank you for your help.
Hey KEV
You've Tought me so much Bro
THANKS !!!
A very big solution to my challenge
This is especially useful! Easier than the old method of adding images to an Excel table.
Hi Kevin, can you do a video on inserting image with an offline ms excel?
I need this too 🙂
Does it have to be on the internet? Anyway to link it to a folder on ur computer?
Hi Kevin, thanks it was very useful trick but how do i have this fubctiob (IMAGE) in my excel?
I tried to use it but my excel doesn't support that!
I have newest version of iffice 365.
OK, Thanks for your video .
How do you upload your pics to the web (I have hundreds in my catalog), so to make them usable with the function IMAGE ?
I use Libre Office . The open source alternative. I will have to run right over and see if Libre has a similar function.
This is a great tip and I can see many use cases for this function.
Thanks very much for making this video!
Great video tutorial it's working on my device iOS

I wonder if that image control will work with images stored on SharePoint. Obviously the people using the work book would need access to those images.
I was wondering that too. I was thinking, if you could link to a network folder it should work in the same way. Do you agree?
@@Lufc-Chaddy we won’t know until we try. It would be helpful if it does. Not so much if it doesn’t.
