Thundercats Go Roar looks like a show that rarely-to-never shuts up.
Kiera Vermeal at least it’s better than some of the other shows that CN has shown in the past. Uncle Grandpa and Problem Solverz is a prime example.

I can't say it was great but it gets way more hate than it deserves.
Roar is just aping common post-Adventure Time visual trends and has loud obnoxious TTG writing but without the occasional joke landing.
It kind of looks like if you turned the graphics settings down real low.
The problem with the ThunderCats reboot is there's a literally no children not know what the show is. So every single kid trying to watch it has jokes flying over their head Non-Stop. TTGO doesn't have this problem because Batman and at least one other DC always has a reboot out
I've only seen one joke that does that. Generally I think any kid could watch it without knowing anything about thundercats. Similiar to how easy adventure Time is to consume even though it has lots of lore
I know, at least Thundercats 2011 can be seen as it's own thing compare to this or TTGO.
The original show being from 1985 rather than 2003 also doesn't help; kids could easily have seen re-runs of Teen Titans, but it's not very likely that they saw Thundercats at all. There was the 2011 show canceled after one season I guess, but, all things considered, I still think Teen Titans was infinitely more likely to have been seen.
The real problem is it's just not good at telling jokes.
If this was an entirely new property, it would still be just as unfunny.

If there’s anything I dislike about Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution, I really don’t like the redesign for Mewtwo’s inhibitor armor. The original design was just fine, but the redesign just looks way too busy, even for armor meant to limit his powers.
I'm just pissed that they changed so little they might as well used the same audio for the characters/ soundtrack

I think the reason why it didn't make it in the original was because it was too dark and depressing. And given that 4Kids was at the helm of the original movie at a time... i gotta agree that they could've added it in. And i'm someone who likes the remake more than the original.

My problem with Thundercats Roar is more that the cooky tv show that doesn't take itself too seriously is just an oversaturated market now. You know, like how action cartoons were oversaturated in the 80s and 90s.
But that Harley Quinn show looks really nice. Just sad that it is on a streaming service nobody uses.
That's the thing this whole approach that companies have of taking their ball and going home (or in this case taking their properties and making it into its own streaming service you have to pay for every month) it's so ridiculous. When it was just basically Hulu and Netflix things were simple and easy. Now you basically need a diagram to show you where various shows are. Of course that doesn't bother me or my many new privateer friends Yar har. ☠

It's amazing to me on how many levels shows like thundercats roar fails.
The problem is really Cartoon Network apparently now will only have "comedy" action shows and not straight up action shows.
Comedy action shows are fine but when it's just one after the other and they're all the same and the same kind of writing in the same art style it just is super obvious they could not care less anymore. Cartoon Network has really become absolute lowest common denominator at this point. the used to be incredibly consistent with new different shows and now it's just all the same stuff, that goes from decent/good too bad to basically terrible.

I feel like shows with the "Cal-Arts Style" is just a trend for the decade, just like other decades in animation had their style. It's good that Netflix has shows with varying styles. Although, if there's still cartoons like this in 2025, maybe we should start to worry. I'll just be happy with shows on tv and streaming with differing styles.

Everybody who is tasked with working on the in-between frames that computers can't work on, Has to learn the same art style to maintain visual quality for every second of animation. It would be too hard and costly to learn a new animation style all over again when working on a new project.
@@StormDracoX I mean, Hanna Barbara does kind of had an excuse for making most of their cartoons look the same or follow a similar formula-- they all came from the exact same company and creators put on different networks. Plus TV animation was an experimental new concept when some of the earliest HB cartoons were made for TV along with working with a very limited budget, technology, and time compare to making theatrical shorts. So they would recycle some characters, designs, and concepts from their own studio. You can't exactly say the same thing about shows like Gravity Falls, Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Craig of the Creek, and SVTFOE. Right?

It's funny that he says it's "all the same jokes" because the English dub is basically entirely changed from the original when it comes to this remake. They followed the Japanese script much more closely here and basically didn't copy the original English script. Also, entire sections of the film have been reworked. But sure, "all the same jokes".

One of my favorite movies ever made is Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. That movie has some of the darkest, grossest shit in it, from a character recounting her little sister being raped by her father to a main character watching silently as a woman is brutally murdered and he can't save her, there's a real grime and grit to the Hollywood setting, and it's one of the most well-written, hilarious movies ever because its character-driven humor is given weight and realism when contrasted with the tragedy surrounding them. Brawl in Cell Block 99 is also disgusting, dark, and makes you feel like you need a shower, but contains several lines that made me full-on belly laugh in contrast.

Glitch Techs has some dated gamer lingo because it was written in 2016 and, like you said, in development hell for a long time. With that in mind, I can bare it a lot more than other people might.
I'm surprised you didn't mention the whole Twitter controversy regarding all the sexy fan art of Miko that people won't shut up about.
Twitter is generally becoming an utter cesspool of idiots trying to make a controversy out of nothing. Just look at the discussions of current Pixar movies...
I've been seeing all the art, love the character design, but haven't seen any controversy regarding it. I'm gonna guess it's puritans whining about lewding a character.

"Harley Quinn" is awesome, especially for the dynamic between Harley and the gang. It was also cool seeing so much violence in the action scenes and the humor was mostly on point. King Shark has to be my favorite character.
"Glitch Techs" is a lot of fun with its vibrant colors, creative animation, and plethora of video game references. While I'm not much of a video game person, I still loved this show for all it had to offer. Miko and Five's companionship is enjoyable to watch as well, and I like how the show is more episodic in nature, at least for now. I can't think of much to criticize, except maybe they could show more of Five's family life, or see if he's still helping his grandparents with their food truck from time to time. I mean considering how much we saw of Miko's family, this would be nice to see more of. Also, while it's not jarring, some of the anime-esque expressions feel kind of forced. Aside from that, this show rocks and it's now one of my top favorite Nicktoons. The theme song is also great.
Haven't seen "Alien News Desk," but it looks amusing. I could imagine the alien and robot newscasters meeting up with Rick and Morty for whatever reason.
I've contemplated on seeing "Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution," mainly for the animation. But after hearing how it's just a shot-for-shot remake of the first movie, I may skip it.
TCR: Aside from the decent backgrounds, the amusingly bad (and kind of MAD Magazine-esque) designs of the villains, and some of the stuff with the Berbils... the show is pure crap. Most of the humor is pitiful, the heroes are all one-note idiots, the colors are unappealing, the Thundercats' designs and facial expressions are repulsive, and the whole thing feels like a cheap retread of recent CN trends. Look, I know it's annoying hearing everyone rag on reboots like this, but you really can't blame people for hating something that set itself up to look like hot garbage. Plus. there's really nothing this show has to offer that's already been done better in other series.
Speaking of which, "MaoMao: Heroes of Pure Heart" is also an action/comedy mix about a cat person and his friends saving their newfound home from villains and monsters, but it's done MUCH better. The humor is sharp, the characters have identifiable personalities, the colors are pleasant, the animation is thrilling, and the art style is unique. Seriously, just watch "MaoMao" instead.
So Glitch Techs is basically Kamen Rider Ex-Aid but with kids instead of doctors

I gotta say, the one thing I really enjoy about Pan’s reviews is that it feels like he always gives the shows he reviews a fair chance. Usually everyone on the Internet either takes the position of “This Is The Worst Show Ever To Air on TV” or “This Show Is The Second Coming of Christ” with no in between. These reviews never really feel like they get swept up in that mentality

I'm getting pretty weary of "WOW!! EVERYTHING IS SO WACKY!!" shows. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate comedy - I just think that there's more than one way of utilizing it. And even gag comedies can have consistency and depth to them.

I said it somewhere else before but I don't like the feeling that people aren't drawing fun expressions for the sake of them, and instead it's becoming a desperate scramble to create the latest meme. The thing with the "animation is dead" statement is that there are so many bad shows that just overshadow the good ones and it makes it seem like that's the standard for animation

@@josephcalabrese6337 Oh, how I wish. While lovely Tuva and her pretty eyes are probably the best thing about the show, there are so many other things to love about it too. Being a SyFy channel show really hampered it's viewership, and I can only imagine an alternate world in which Alien News Desk was a Netflix show and Tuva art flowed through the internet like loneliness flows through Pan and me.
Thank God for Netflix it had saved the action cartoon genre.

I thought it was mildly trippy and mostly innocent fun, but the milquetoast boy protagonist and the implausibly forward girl liking him for no reason just felt so emblematic of everything bad that anime teaches people about socializing that my friends and I all had to go eat at McDonalds just to wash the Japanese taste out.

Never watched the original Thundercats or the previous reboot, but I thought Roar looked bad when I first saw it on account of how bad the design was and the huge contrast from the original.
I mean, surely the whole point of rebooting something like this is because it's a recognisable product, why make it so different from the original? At least TTG features one or two well-known characters in it.
Kinda sad that no one cared about Young Justice’s revival on DC Universe after the fans fought so hard to bring it back, which isn’t that common with action cartoons.
Doom Patrol is also pretty great.

I saw exactly four episodes of Young Justice. Every single adult character is a jerk only to make the teen characters look good by comparison. Which they don't. In the first episode, they throw a hissy fit because they're not given access to the Justice League's satellite, and the second episode rewards them for defying orders. So many problems could have been solved by basic communication. That's what I thought, anyway, until I saw how disrespectful the show's version of the League really is, culminating in Superman outright rejecting Superboy's request for guidance. I'm all for the teen characters having to prove themselves to their mentors, but that was needlessly cruel, and it confirmed for me that DC is on a mission to destroy everything good about Superman.
The action scenes of Roar reminds me of One Piece fight scenes when it gets really crazy
The demon has officially been slain, Thundercats Roar has been canceled.......now we just gotta wait another 8-10 years for someone to work up the courage to try again without turning it into another PR nightmare ^^;

You're the first person I've seen bring up the weird splatter and smoke effects in Harley quin, and I agree, while I like this show, those effects can honestly be hit or miss, for me.

again, the only thing LEGO contributed to thundercats was making CN take away the 2011 version's season 2 renewal so they can fund LEGO's successor to ninjago at the time, Legends of Chima.
perhaps LEGO did wanted to make LEGO thundercats but someone idk which side rejected it and they changed it to chima, but lego didn't pitch their IP for the sole purpose of replacing thundercats, it was a sheer coincidence.
plus CN may or may not have canceled the 2011 reboot, because it and Chima would bring confusion to their demographic, but mostly they probably canned it because they already saw the success of LEGO ninjago, figured this new IP from LEGO will do the same and since its from LEGO, they could handle the merchandising so it was a win win scenario... even though Chima pretty much under performed but had it's 3 year run.

Thundercats Roar is still Thundercats, its just an Earth where they act like adventure time. TTGOs new movie revealed they are the titans of one earth and that they are multiple earths with different versions of titans.
Thundercats Roar has a basic art style used for easy movement, Snarf is now a robot that talks like an actual cat, Thunder cats Roar still has action despite it being comedy, each fight still has a respectable battle song, not to mention new intro. Thundercats Roar is not the only Thundercats that exist, ThunderCats 1985 and 2011 can always be seen somewhere.

I appreciate a lot of the kinetic energy TCR brings, but even outside of just the concept and humor the show is ruined by how aggressively it cranks up its whole look. Everything is always moving and the faces/mouths (which take up half the head) never maintain a similar size or shape to several seconds prior. There's having a heavily rounded, "calartsy" look, which despite overuse I ultimately enjoy, and then there's just making your entire show out of fucking bubblegum. The show has no visual spine and everything is just constantly morphing like a ditto getting tazed. Even as someone into the art style (when it has a modicum of restraint) and _really_ into "forced animation," moreso than anything else the show does wrong I just can't look at it for very long without getting fatigued. Its animation that can't be looked at.
It's one of my biggest problems with the show. I got a good question though, if you make a show that has literally nothing in common with the original property then why not make it its own IP instead? It wasn't so bad about the 2011 reboot of thunder cats because the characters acted similarly to the original counterparts which by the way the reason why the 2011 reboot only got one season was because cartoon network choose to fund and air legends of China instead because it was cheaper and that at the time Lego shows were popular.

I haven't bothered seeing it myself, but arguments I've seen people make range from the show being mean-spirited to some video titled something like "ThunderCats Roar teaches young boys to hate themselves". So, there's that.
Frankly a lot of those so called "criticisms" for the show aren't even criticisms, hell the creators for TTG are constantly get harassed by these idiot fanboys of the original Teen Titans as well as constant death threats which is why they make these troll episodes yet THE CREATORS are the ones being called "shallow" and accused of "not taking criticisms" instead of the idiot fanboys, good grief screw these Teen Titans obsessed man children

I gave up in Glitch Techs after the first few lines of gamer lingo/puns. Roughly 10 minutes in.
Before that I was actually fairly interested. But that dialogue made me realize that video games do cause violence.

The Harley Quinn series exceeded far beyond my expectations. Had some good laughs surprisingly and I thought it was a relatively well animated series considering its an adult animated comedy show and a "web-series". It just got renewed for season 2 so I hope it stays consistent.
