    I'm certainly not expert level myself either but the more I've sat with this plane, the more I like it. I was iffy on it for my first flight or two but it's really grown on me. Price is definitely fair and I notice more depth and detail as I get more used to it. It walks that line of being just complex enough that I feel accomplished successfully operating it but not so much that I feel overwhelmed and like I need to take a course on it.
    Give it a couple patches to smooth things out and it'll earn a place in my regular rotation. I fly in VR so shorter commercial flights are more my game if I'm not flying GA. I'm not interested in spending 5 hours in a headset so a quick hour or so hop is perfect and this type of plane suits that very well.

    You can turn off reverse axis for the throttle in the tablet, then you can setup a keybind through asobo called "decrease throttle" that when you have throttle at 0 and press the "decrease throttle" button it will engage the reverse thrust.

    • @natemoore6760
      @natemoore6760 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Think the default button for this is f2?

    • @PixieGirl101
      @PixieGirl101 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Frank Farmer
      In tablet: (steps to turn off reverse axis)
      1. Options Tab (top right)
      2. click throttle setup (top right under options)
      3. De-select Reverser Axis box "Throttle hardware has reverser axis.
      [This should make it where your hardware throttle axis does push the ATR throttle into the reverse axis. Full back on my hardware throttle has the in-game plane throttle at Ground Idle (GI)
      you can manipulate the placement with the RAMP(Red line), NOTCH (white line) and IDLE (think this is GI). Please note that I didn't do this but Jonathan Beckett has a guide for this part in their video's.
      In Sim (to add keybind for "decrease throttle"
      1. press [ESC] key on keyboard
      2. select "Controls Options'
      3.Your hardware should be showing at the top of the window [Keyboard, Mouse .... others]
      4. select the hardware you wish to add the keybind for "decrease throttle" to
      5. Select desired profile for the hardware (listed under the hardware name, use arrow keys to select), lookup how to make a new profile as there are options to duplicate them.
      6. Under "SEARCH", use "SEARCH BY INPUT" by clicking it and pressing a button you would like to use for the new keybind. This should display what the button is currently configured to do (if nothing, it is good to use) (if something displays, you will need to remove the keybind unless you are okay with it working both of them)
      7. How to remove existing keybind: click the blue box to the right of the "decrease throttle" option that has the name of the button you desire.
      8. Click "CLEAR CURRENT INPUT" then "VALIDATE"
      9. Next, Under "SEARCH", use "SEARCH BY NAME" and type in "Decrease Throttle"
      10. click the blue box to the right of the "decrease throttle" option
      11. Click box with "START SCANNING"
      12. On your hardware, press the desired key to work with "decrease throttle" and then click "validate"
      (This should make that button engage the reverse thrust when your throttle is at idle)
      I think you can also just press the [F2] key on the keyboard. Not sure on that one.

    There’s a ground and flight idle gate that activates automatically when you land, which is why it wanted to go into reverse when you landed. You just need to calibrate the idle position in the tablet.

    Simhangar has done a tutorial on how to set up the Bravo Throttle Quadrant with the ATR. You not only have to set it up in MSFS, you have to set it up in the ATR's throttle configurator. Thankyou for taking it out for a spin. I can't wait to do it myself.

    The thing about calibrating the throttles is that you have to use the notch indicators that appear at the top left of the PFD to set the throttle positions and not the position of the throttles themselves to get it to work. It drove me crazy until I figured it out. And yes the reverse toggle should remain unchecked with the honeycomb bravo throttles.

    I bought this for 10 pounds something so even if it has some issues I wont be to upset. I watched another youtuber who came to the conclusion expert level was a fair description but he didn't feel it was study level. This will be good enough for most simmers I should imagine. Like most add ons they'll update it and we'll continue to see improvements over time.

    Setting up the throttles requires understanding of its position and range and same for the combined Prop RPM engine shut off functionality. Once you get this, you will not have the issues anymore with it and can enjoy the the sceneries she is flying in real world.

    One thing I am not keen on is unlike eg. the included default Airbus A320 (maybe the other included ones? I don't fly airliners much) programming a flight plan from the main menu doesn't seem to work. I don't mind playing with the FMC sometimes but for those times when you just want a quick flight this is disappointing. You programme a flight plan from the main menu but it wont appear within this aircraft. We don't all want to be fiddling with an annoying FMC computer every time we want to fly. Yes it's more realistic but you don't always want this all of the time.

    The aero soft CRJ has the same type of weird throttle implementation. I have no idea why they decided to do it this way. I can deal with it but it’s definitely very weird. I would like to see the tablet have some adjustments to it like brightness and darkness or just being able to be turned off or removed. it’s extremely bright and blinding on night flights. There’s also no way to import flight plans either from the sim map or simbrief which is rather odd.

      I think it's been a bug for a while. It has something to do with altering the loadout or the livery after you've set the flight plan. I think if you get your aircraft, loadout and livery all set before you add in your starting point and flight plan, the bug will stop happening. If that doesn't work, I guess you just have to double check your starting point before you start the sim.

    I feel like i am saying this way to much, which may annoy some who see me comment on other places. But while I like the ATR it has way to many bugs, many of which are the exact same bugs that the CRJ has. The VNAV behaviour, the airways issues, the CRJ Simbrief file format… makes me wonder how much code was reused. Either way, the bugs are unacceptable and should not be there. I am fine with the systems depth, just not the bugs. Because when they plane doesn’t succumb to the bugs it is a lot of fun to fly. But when the bugs, especially the VNAV bugs hit, it is crippling and unreliable. Also, total lack of documentation and extremely limited and nigh on useless EFB doesn’t help matters. Also the right hand FMS being whatever the hell that is.

    Watching you spend the whole flight complaining about the power levers after failing to calibrate them was painful. Ignore the numbers on the calibration page (they aren't useful unless you are using some external tool to set up your controls) and just calibrate based on the physical position of your throttles. If you put ground idle at the bottom, notch at 65% of your lever's movement and ramp at 90%, you get a calibration that more or less matches the power levers in the cockpit.
    TLDR; the throttle calibration problems are mostly user error.

      @@AvAngel That's a fair answer, and my reaction is definitely colored by the fact that I have previous experience with add-ons like this and was prepared for it to need extra control setup. You genuinely seemed confused so I wasn't sure if you actually knew how to calibrate the throttles correctly and wanted to get the answer out there. That said, the default calibration is strange for a lot of controllers so I understand you having trouble with it.
