  • Keeping the pace of learning up, in episode 2 we cover Hotel Mode, Engine Start Procedures, Taxi and Take-Off through to initial climb! It continues on from Episode 1 as we prepared for our flight at Belfast Aldergrove in Microsoft Flight Simulator.
    We'll also briefly discuss a few tips and tricks to get you up to cruise comfortably too, and discuss how to use the DTO Direct To function of the MCDU as well.

    👋 hope you're enjoying the series so far!
    A note on throttles - you would usually use NOTCH instead of RAMP for the takeoff and we'll dig more into these for other smaller snappier tutorials exploring some of the different modes for Short field takeoff and more. It also depends on your ability to calibrate throttles as you might find it'll click into NOTCH easier than RAMP so set what you can and importantly do what you feel is comfortable and easier to remember ✈️ happy flying!

      @@BritishAvgeek Plane was stuck in Hotel Mode for some reason. Even though the prop brake was set to off, it was on/ready. Solution was to turn off Eng 2 and restarting it.

      @@SizzlingPopcorn it's a new thing post- the recent MSFS update... You've got to press the Aux HYD Press button BEFORE engaging Prop Brake, and then also before disengaging it - ensuring the condition lever for Engine 2 is in Feather

    Thanks, simple and to the point. The condition levers.. is it left at auto for the remainder of the flight? Have seen some videos where its moved all the way up during take off and flight.

      Yep just left on auto, it'll sort itself out throughout until shutdown :)

    Great vid! The D-TO function is scary to use. I've experienced the bug when using DTO, it wipes the flightplan, in 3 of 4 flights so far.
    Hoping you will post a vid of decent, approach and landing vid! :-)

    You can also adjust any settings on the displays. Just click on the screen, for example, up, down, left or right. You can also scroll through the checklist in the display window. Instructions on how to do this are in the tablet on the aircraft's equipment. Greetings aviation geeks. 🤭🤗👍

    Changing mode, zoom and stuff...should work fine clicking on verious spots on the screen, according to Microsoft Flightsimulator TH-cam channel. Haven't tested myself yet, though

    just got the ats great tutorial 1 question why after all engine starts does plane go backwards. is it reverse thrust. cheers .

    Great video. I have been following diligently, but I always seem to have Low Pressure on the Hydraulics. I have pressed the little button on the throttle quadrant. It disappears sometimes, however last night I kept losing pressure, resulting in no brakes which made back taxi interesting. How did you get the Hydraulic low pressure lights to extinguish on the o/head panel?

      I think post-SU13 the ATR needs an update to fix that as it's a new bug causing problems with hydraulics

    I'd rather start both engines before taxi, then you're more concentrated and aware of your surroundings on your way to the runway :)

      Yep that's an easier way but when you watch the ATRs taxi it's nearly always on single engine

    New issue for me during turnarounds. Once I have shut off both engines I'm not able to restart them. I hope they will fix it soon

      I've not had that issue yet myself but interesting to hear what has happened to you. I know an update is coming which fixes a LOT of bugs including VNAV and a "turnaround bug" too

    Great tutorial series, if I can find bindings using my TCA 320 Cpt Pack and saitek pedals.
    Spend 2 afternoons.....nothing work ( except flap lever).
    How do you control front wheel steering for taxi??
    I'm so annoyed, will probably delete the ATR.
    Flushing 12,99 Euros down the drain.....

      I just use rudder to control it. Make sure your gust lock is off and I'd check for any keybind issues because it may be the case that you have stuff set up incorrectly in the sim for the ATR

    The atr got an update I think vnav has been fixed on it so it should work properly now! Could you make a tutorial on it if it works

      If it works, then that's great I'll look at a specific tutorial but it'll no doubt still have weird Quirks so tbh I'll likely never ever use it unless it's as reliable as the PMDG 737 (which lets face it, it's unlikely)

    Hello, one question, in which folder does the ATR save its liveries? I have looked in several places but I have not found it, I want to add some liveries and I don't know where to put them. Thank you so much.

    I can’t move my yoke after the engines are started. There’s no hydraulic, even if the pumps are working. Am I doing something wrong, or is it just a typical MSFS bug?

    Never seen a ATR push back. They always use their own power to reverse where I've seen them. Is it done like that somewhere?

      Heathrow most definitely - Loganair always pushback from Terminal 2. It depends on the airport/country it's operating in

    I'm just not getting those kind of climb rates in CLB mode. I have to use MCT. Also, throttles should be in NOTCH rather than RAMP for takeoff.

      @@mrmisterno1 again, remember we're keeping this basic without digging into short field ops and all the rest of it... Similarly to both, the tutorial series aims to work around the quirks of this specific add-on including some power, VNAV, FMS and MCDU behaviour and more.

    GSX and I don’t get along. Seems very buggy. Here we are in 2023 and it has been very clear, and verified, that GSX causes other issues when I run it. Its caused CTD, and the only addon to cause that btw. It doesn’t seem to be consistent in how it performs and behaves. I finally got tired of fighting it and even lost a couple flights because of it. Finally just bought the upgraded ground vehicles through msfs and went on with my flying.

      Are you switching the dial on the fcp to V/IL1 or 2 and flying in Nav?

    Just followed your tutorial but hit some issues with GSX and also going from Hotel to prop spinning. From what I can see the process has changed with the most recent update. Why such a significant change since release is symptomatic of MS rushing the developer to a release when it clearly wasn't ready. This will be the last aircraft I buy from MS or for that matter fly from their catalogue. Too much frustration. ATR now hangered while my headache subsides.

      @@daisy180709 press Aux HYD Pump near the throttles and try see if that solves it

      @@BritishAvgeek No mate it never worked , i tried pressing the small round HYD button to the left of the throttle quickly and also holding it down for a second , and even holding it down until it clicked back itself. i ended up having to shut engine two down then restart which is a bit of a pain.

      Nooo never admit defeat! The wonder of flight sim is we get the chance to learn these aircraft, have the diversity of different types of flying. Keep at it, eventually it'll click! Even if you have to watch these tutorials back over and over 🙂
