- Today we look at the new ATR for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Is it worth your time and money?
Spoiler alert: it depends
On sale for $20 on the marketplace, the price is reasonable and if you can tolerate some bugs it is a fun and unique plane to fly. - เกม
A real ATR pilot said its about 80% accurate to the real thing modeling and systems wise that would put it on par with the inibuilds/asobo A310 and MOST DEFINETLY worth the money asked ! I have done 4 flights so far and only encountered very minor bugs that were more of a minor annoyance than anything else. If you like Airbus and you want to try a regional turboprop airliner definitely get it.
I won't listen to any real pilot ATM. After all it's a game and you can use it as you wish.
Let them enjoy their multimillionaire dollar toy
The a310 is on a different league, but it still is pretty good, especially for the price

Many of us want the ultimate realism though. You can play it as a game if you wish and of course, it is a desktop simulator after all but that doesn't mean you should diss real-world pilots who are mostly addressing those of us that want ultimate realism rather than people like yourself who are probably happy playing it as an arcade game.
Looking awesome. Thanks for the review. I prefer the old school steam gauges myself but none the less it's still an awesome aircraft and super excited to see it finally come to MSFS.

VNAV for departures, including obeying altitude constraints, seems to be working fine. The sticky on the forum says VNAV descents aren't working properly at the moment and that appears to be the case, although the TOD marker does seem to appear at the right spot. Finding energy management on descent and approach a bit of a challenge without autothrottle and speed brake, but I suppose that will come with practice.
To be fair, not really many turboprops have auto throttle, and the atr42 is not the exception there
Proper procedure is climbing in IAS
On take off, you pushed the throttles forward a little too far - there is a "TO/AUTO" detent. If you look at 21:59 and look at the throttles in the lower right hand corner of the screen - your throttle position (actually after you had already retarded it a little), is ahead of the Auto position. In this position the automatic power modes (TO, MCT, CL, etc) on the knob will not work. This is also why you had engine indications in the yellow range. (the 'auto' detent along with the power modes knob would prevent any red/yellow indications). In real ATR SOPs, the auto detent is always used, except in the event of a go-around or single engine failure.
you don't take off with power in the ramp(red) but in the notch(white)
I personally like the aircraft. You can't beat the price, it's nice to do something different, and you can't beat the price... lol! I thought it was going to be a lot more difficult to learn but it's actually not that bad.

For $12 I've been flying the hell out of this. Already six flights in. Will probably get at least a few hundred. Opens up hundreds of smaller airports for passenger service. Incredible value for me anyway. Most of my issues were user error😂

What's it like in VR?
I got this today, this morning, messed around for about 2 hours trying to set the throttles up on my Thrustmaster Quadrant, could I get them mapped ? Nope !! MSFS just wasn't having any of it. I checked for any conflictions , cleared anything throttle related and tried again. Gave up in the end. PS...oh, just realised, might have had the gust lock engaged, hence min throttle movement !!

Decent price for us P Deluxe people but no integration of the games own flight plan is a failure.
Nowadays , guys want a very good product with a breakfast price. I am an old school and IT related and I am shocked with price complaints I see several times. This is a cheap aircraft for western countries and medium and high developed countries at the world. For some countries that have very low wages I can understand.

Great plane and the price is very atttractive but the sounds are awful. Nothing like the real thing.
