Thank you so much Sarkis for making this video of my home theater. The introduction is 🔥🔥. I’m glad to share my theater room and give others ideas as I’ve gotten inspiration from the community myself. You did a fantastic job and it’s been a pleasure working with you throughout this process. Can’t thank you enough!!

Awesome theater! I have a similar setup but your center channel riser/stand setup is sick! 🤔 giving me ideas. I also have the door in the back pretty close to the same as yours. I want to do a back riser as well but would have to shift it. Again awesome! Great job Sarkis. My favorite theater reviewer.

Might want to change the title. The 8K title made me think it would be a JVC NX9/RS3000 with the 8K E-shift feature. As you know the RS1000 doesn't have the 8K e-shift feature. It is native 4K. The 8K seems misleading and might lead someone to think the RS1000 has that capability.

My back speakers are mounted on stands so they have plenty of breathing room and they perform very well. Like Felix said, they might be a bit of an overkill, but I bought my speakers in sequence as I was saving money to buy more stuff, and originally I used the RP-600M as fronts which did a fantastic job. The look and style of this room is fantastic and the front view with the stage looks awesome.
Since the seats are offset to the side (my room is the same but only by about 4') you will notice a significant improvement in your rear surround if you have direct firing speakers on the back wall directly behind the seating. With the current bi-pole speakers, your 3700H can adjust the timing during setup but with the angle of the driver and such a large distance that sound will hit the seating more from the side, similar to the position of the side surrounds. This will be a completely different spot than your other rear speaker sound will come from.
Your side surrounds are a little more difficult to work with with one side wall being much further away than the other. Direct firing speakers allow for speaker delay that will easily fix that. With bi-poles, it makes it much more difficult. I am a huge fan of bi-poles for side surrounds in a room as large as yours and I too run bi-poles as they fill the space much better and give you great sound envelopment. My concern is the distance of the one side speaker and where the rear facing drivers point to in regards to searing position. You always want your speakers pointed directly at the main listening position (MLP), even your front stage should have your left speaker towed in more than the right so they both point to the MLP and that allows room correction to adjust timing so you have perfect surround sound. So with your side surrounds, if those drivers both point to the MLP, you are good, you could even but an angles base plate behind to better aim those drivers or even slide it forward to get the correct aim. Remember, speakers should be aligned and mounted based on the MLP, not for room symmetry, you ears and brain don't care where the walls are, they care where the sound is coming from. The adjustment of one of the surrounds won't hurt the sound as the other side of the bi-pole is simply filling in empty space and is indirect sound. The other option is direct firing speakers on swivel mounts aimed at the MLP. The best spot would be to have them mounted directly to the side of the MLP but since the wires are already run to that spot, they are fine there and will still provide amazing directional sound that follows what is happening on screen.
If you ever feel like adding, you should consider another sub in the rear corner. Normally I would suggest 2 more but it didn't look like you had room where your seating was. Get a MiniDSP to tune the subs and you will see a significant improvement in seat to seat consistency and you will feel more in the middle of the action.
Even if you leave it as is, you will still have great sound and movie enjoyment. All that matters is that you are happy with the performance and if that is the case, you will have endless hours of movie enjoyment

    • @edub2694
      @edub2694 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Thank you so much! Yeah you’re absolutely right. I might have to start tweaking a couple of speaker placements and see if it makes a difference. Luckily I left myself plenty of speaker wire in the walls so I can plenty of room to move them. Thanks for all the advice! I’ll let you know if I move some and what I hear!

Awesome room tour! I'd just suggest that the home owner move the side surrounds further back to maybe in between the the front and rear seats. Surrounds shouldn't be in front of both rows of seats. Also, using the Klipsch RP-500SA speakers as back surrounds placed directly behind the last row of seats would provide much better pinpoint & immersive sound. Otherwise, a great home theater. Thanks.

Yes, agreed... however, I think in this case the positioning might be compromised by the side door, they have to either be in their current location or at the other side of the door, where you suggested... but if they’re too close to the rears they’d just bleed into eachother - no bueno! 🤣

Nice looking room. I am surprised at the statement of replacing the Oppo 203 with the Sony. Only reason I would have done that is to generate funds to go elsewhere in the room. Since it was asked in the video, Surrounds are at correct height and the rears toed in like that for the front center and aisle seat is just fine. I am guessing the wall and rear seats are for guests or kids where critical sound isn't appreciated.

I absolutely loved my Oppo when I had it but the second they announced the closure they stopped giving updates to the players and I had a couple of discs that wouldn’t play with it. It started freezing on my as well so I figured I’d try my luck somewhere else. I noticed the Sony 1100es had the same mediatek chip so it was worth a shot and I wasn’t giving up any picture quality. @@edub2694 Manual is pure wasted paper. Didn't learn anything from it and I had to print it off as it did not come with it. My TV stand has the middle shelf, where I put it, is glass. At first I thought it was noisy but it turned out it was transmitting vibrations to my Laserdisc player that I was hearing. I removed the Laserdisc player off the shelf and it was silent. At first it wasn't reading all my files on my external hard drive. I would have to exit a folder and come back in to see. Lately I have not noticed it. I think it may have needed time to build a table of contents or something. When playing MKVs or M2TS it was playing in SDR not seeing the HDR/DV. There is a firmware update currently in beta and not on the website that resolves. Non anamorphic DVDs had a nasty ugly stretch at default. Oh and did I just waste that much money thought.
Things I like! Now monkey see, monkey do playing with the remote I learned a lot. Zoom functions are great and help significantly with old DVDs. Picture adjustments with non-HDR content to fine tune image to liking. Quick easy access to change audio tracks and subtitle tracks on both discs and files. I noticed picture quality improvement right off the bat, but didn't truly appreciate how much better it was until I did AB comparisons to my LG UBK90. The instant sight to my shared network files. Small but big to me was being able to play music files and it would continue playing while I browsed for the next song. My Sony and LG stopped playing as soon as I exited the track. SACD/DSD playback worked great out of the box and the beta firmware provides additional settings. On AVS Forums one person said they experienced Midway and Knives Out freezing on their Panasonic. I have read Sony experiencing lockups. My LG had some lockups recently as well with BD100 discs. So far I have not had a freeze. I played Midway for that user with no issues. Is it worth it's price tag? For me yes as it does what I was doing before with two players, improved video quality and adjustments, Feels and looks like nice build quality. It has grown on me.

Re: rear speaker positioning - The front row could be moved over to the right I suppose, putting them closer to the centre, especially with the side door opening outwards. Also, the front row isle seat seems to have the most creases in it, which could mean that's the main seat, which is more or less in the middle of the rear speakers... let's face it, no one cares about the cheap seats 🤣

The cinema looks absolutely awesome. Well build and cool design.
However, I am always surprised, that most American installers don’t use AT screens, but speakers in front of the screen.
I see 3 major advantages in doing that:
    - the sound comes directly out of the image, making the experience more immersive.
    - you can use 3 identical front speakers for perfect acoustic homogeneity. Also, in-wall/ on wall speakers are usually a little cheaper for the same performance, as no luxurious case is needed. Another added benefit is that no light reflects from the speakers.
    - a non-AT screen is a big acoustic reflector in a psychoacoustically very relevant area. With an AT screen, you can absorb sound behind the screen.
This is not a criticism, just wondering as I see this in most European high end home cinemas, but a lot more rarely in Northern America.
