If he went to the theater and spent $30 every single week, he could go to the theater for 36 years with the price of this setup, not not even considering he has to buy content to watch. Ask yourself how much of this stuff will be obsolete in 10 years anyway? It's an amazing setup but unless you have the pockets it just does not make cents.

Only thing that will be obsolete in a few years is maybe the projector. Still got another decade out of that thing it’s top shelf. Speakers will last as long as you want them. Speakers from the 70’s are still used and sound great today. Not much room for tech to change much as far as speakers go.

At first this sounds like an insane amount of money to spend on a home theater, but then if you think about what people spend comparable amounts of money on, it doesnt sound so bad. Like people spend this amount on pools and RVs everyday. This is an incredible setup and is something you can get great enjoyment out of everyday!

You got to have a Trinnov, is very expensive but man the sound and level of detail is just simply breathtaking, even trying to describe it with words don’t do any justice. About what you said about the projector is true, if you spend $7K on a awesome projector don’t go buy a cheap $200 screen, it is like buying a Ferrari but using 87 octane gasoline. By the way I can’t wait to see your new space, blessings to you brother.

Tristan Jones dang. Good reasoning. The whole price thing is stupid. I manage the DREAMEDIA channel and we don’t mention prices. What do people ask for? Prices. On almost every video. “ what does something like this cost?” Well here you go. Prices.

      Cool video!
I have been curios in how much you've spent for a time. Tbh I don't see a video like this as bragging. For an enthusiast I think price is pretty relevant imo. This hobby isn't cheap but you already knew that. Seeing this type of video give you a hint of what you can get for different amounts of money.
If it was some random rich guy showing his one million dollar cinema then I'd call that bragging. But an enthusiast showing his stuff is just a great video regardless if his stuff costs 1k or 100k. Hope you get what I mean. :)

Let me begin by saying that your set up is certainly cool and that the most important thing in home theatre is that it gives its owners joy. So whatever I say from now on doesn’t need to matter to you and should be understood with a grain of salt. However, as a home cinema enthusiast, who has made a lot of mistakes in building a home theatre, and now has finally reached a state that is close to perfection, I want to share my journey and put it in the context of this video.
When I fell in love with home cinema and finally had the means to make it happen, I did the same we see in this video. I looked for cool components, as many speakers as possible, a lot of bling brands, 2 fat subs, a little acoustic treatment here and there. It was fantastic and I loved it.
But there was always a thing that nagged me. I had to adjust volume several times during a film, some scenes had a booming in the lower frequencies, whiles other scenes lacked punch. I wasn’t unhappy, but I purchase new stuff to fight this. And the new Processor, Sub, Amp etc. really made a difference.
One day, I wanted to here a new speaker system because I contemplated upgrading. I went to one of Germany‘s most famous installers and I was blown away by how amazing his set up was. The picture and sound was a lot more immersive, it was so accurate, so crisp and just 3 times as good as the system I had. I asked the installer how many hundreds of thousands he invested... and it turned out it was a lot cheaper than my system...
He explained me, that the difference was that I had great components with a bad concept, and he had a great concept with fine components.
I sold most of my components and we made a completely new concept. A Bafflewall with an acoustically transparent screen. Speakers and SBA inside the Bafflewall, 7 instead of 9 lower speakers, 4 high channels instead of 6, higher end Processor and lower end amps. A lot of focus on reducing booming frequencies and initial reflections.
I now didn’t have the cool speakers with the nice piano finish to flex, but I paid a lot less on the new speakers, that sounded a lot better in my room, and the light of the projector didn’t bounce off the shiny surfaces. The screen now was a lot larger, because I could hide everything behind it and didn’t need space for my speakers. The sound now comes out of the screen and there is no reflection anywhere in my livingroom, due to a few great tricks.
My electronic components went into another room, so that they weren’t affected by the vibrations of speakers in the room. My projector now didn’t need nearly as much light as before, although I have an AT screen. The reason is better ambient light reduction in the room and masking of the screen. The contrast is double as much as before (measured), although my projector nominally has the same contrast as before.
What I mean is, that this in the video is so akin to my „Before room“ and there is nothing wrong about it. However, I would advice anyone to make a concept before you think of shiny components and brands names. You can have twice the experience at half the cost. Hope that helps someone.

Chris this is absolutely epic really love all the content you put out. Very happy to see you really address room treatment because the biggest issue with any theater is always the biggest part of it and that’s the theater room itself if the acoustics aren’t properly addressed the sound can quickly fall apart. Keep up the good work very excited to see your next build.

I have done several tests with bipole speakers as Atmos and the diffuse sound doesn’t do it, only ceiling speakers are the way to go. Awesome video like always.

I think that space is a bit small for so many channels and those giant subs but you like it - that’s what matters! You said the next house the system will have more space and you can take advantage of a better sub layout.
Major kudos for providing plenty of power. Far too many people grossly under power their systems whether it’s just 3.1 or 7.2 then complain about lack of impact.

This is not a "home theater", its the place other people send their gear when it breaks. Biggest mistake ever is building a "home theater" that actually looks like a movie theater, most of the time you're alone and there is nothing more depressing than sitting in a theater alone. But I admire this guy's efforts, he'll learn. Took me decades to learn what I know, but that is what a hobby is about. messing around with stuff. And he does have "stuff",most of it extraneous, especially the power gear snakeoil. Fun to look at anyway

So, you brought the theatre to you... well, alright then lol...
Clearly a lot of time was put into this and it looks insane.
I’m a cheap ass but I wanted to hear my movies and games, so I went out and bought the $300 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos system by Vizio. For my upstairs apartment, it’s pretty much perfect. I actually have the sub set to -6 because that thing surprisingly can thump my apartment. It works for me!
This setup looks insane but, honestly I think I’d just stick to the movie theatre if I want a crazy movie experience. We have Marcus theatres where I live and they’ve done an AMAZING job with their Atmos theatres. Then again, I’m sure having something like this in your HOME is something to be incredibly proud of!
