  • @DieselWeasel

    Just got a DD setup last week. Been using Logitech wheels for many years, but after getting into iRacing, I found that I wanted something more accurate, without the noisy and jittery gears that the G-series wheels have. I actually got the SR-P (non-Lite) pedals from Moza a few months back, since everyone says the brakes are the most important thing to upgrade, and I wanted the load cell accuracy. I'd been debating a lot on wheels/bases, was wanting to get the R9 with the RS V2, but a Labor Day sale at Micro Center just couldn't be ignored. I got the R5 bundle (of which I'm not using the pedals) for just $400, then sold my G29 for $100, so it's like I got the wheel and base for just $300. XD I'm absolutely loving it so far, but I definitely would like to get a bigger round wheel at some point, and potentially a second wheel for GT/open-wheel racing.

      I had almost same route, I did get the SR-P pedals last August, and I had G920 which went as a gift down the line. Reason was to get bit better feeling, and how weak FFB was in some cars so as to feel what is happening. Well there was a short side track (lack of inventory, and timing with me moving) and I just ended up ordering Moza R9 and RS V2.
      And a side note about the SR-P pedals, I hope you also bought the accessory kit available, as it improves the braking feeling a lot compared to that abysmally loose spring they provide with the pedals.

    • @DieselWeasel
      @DieselWeasel ปีที่แล้ว

    During my search of videos about wheel stands, I've recently watched your NLR Wheel Stand 2.0 review and now I've just discovered this review of the Moza R5!
    I literally purchased the Moza R5 two weeks ago and I couldn't find any video matching an R5 with a NLR Wheel Stand. Glad I found your video.
    I have also purchased the upgrade kit for the brake and the clutch pedal addon.
    And I couldn't resist trying the Moza HGP Shifter as well. The next step will be definitely the handbrake to be used with Dirt Rally 2.0.
    My only questions is about the holes on the wheel stand matching the Moza's ones: not sure if it's been mentioned somewhere in the video (apologies in advance).
    If it can be mounted without drilling any additional holes it would be amazing!
    What's your experience on this?

    4:40 I like that it was mentioned. Infinite rotation as not many reviewers mention. But I really miss information about hitting this set limit and description of how it feels in game. For example lets set it to 1080° and then in game try to rotate past this set point. Is it to easy to rotate further or is it extreme hard to rotate further. Why I ask is because I want to feel very strong resistance point, almost no way to rotate even 1° further. I will not explain why I prefere this that way. So by that I wonder what wheel in the future I will buy. I guess that 5nm may be to small to achieve this as I already have a wheel that is in this range (T-GT II) So I wonder if I would pick Moza then should I aim for R21 or R16 ETC. I am still seeking such review that would mention this aspect of wheel force.

      i have noticed with mine that it depends. if you are running really high feedback then i may not even feel the lock stops since im allready a max torque but set it to a medium range and you can definitely feel the lock stops but yes they can be overcome with enough force, but you pretty much have to be trying to push through them

    • @Cosm1c_69
      @Cosm1c_69 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Mattvbro Yes that is my concern when I have peak wheel force on my wheel while also touching that soft lock I feel no difference and only way I can see that this is the limit of car steering lock because I see car wheel in game stop rotating and this is not ideal especially in games that unfortunately use 360 degrees of rotation like F1 or Wreckfest that also do not use even 900 degrees of rotation. So I think that to get this soft lock feeling it is better to have wheel that have about 12-16 nm of force. But also game must have soft lock mechanics implemented and I mean especially for games that vehicles have different range of steering wheel rotation, like BeamNG. Some games do not have soft lock and it is needed to manually set wheel soft lock in wheel software (example ACC)

      Aside from the load cell pedal kit you dont need much else for sim racing. Anything beyond is for your own ease of use or comfort/experience. Comes down to preference. Been using a t300 Rs GT for a solid 6 months now. Thinking about going with a moza r9, GS wheel, CS wheel, CRP pedals. I have a thrustmaster th8a and a thrustmaster sparco mod hand brake. Dont use the hand brake too much tbh as I dont do much drifting or rally anymore. And the th8a is mainly used for acc like no hesi or nascar in iracing. Otherwise I use the paddles on my t300 mainly.

      If I were to start with an R5, my first upgrade would be a sim rig / wheel stand first, which he already has it covered, then the brake pedal upgrade. Then, I'd look into upgrading my PC hardware. How far you want to upgrade your PC depends on your monitor setup and Hz target. You can go budget with single 60hz monitor, and then you need a stronger one for 144hz, and then an even stronger one for Triples.

    I have a question, because it seems nobody really answer this question when reviewing product, is this something for a simcasual player? or they call it simarcade, I don't want to be competitve or do any Iracing, I do however want to play the new motorsport from forza (i just hate playing with the controller and want something similar to real driving) I will play some F1 24 and beyond because I love f1 and enjoy playing career mode, so mostly against AI but also my American Truck simulator. I really want to invest in moza rather than logitech or trusthmaster because of the aftermarket part available and how their ecosystem works together, I see they have an R3 bundle, and R5 bundle not even sure which one to get, I know they have a truck wheel as separate to use with any of the wheel base. So what product for someone like is recommended? the R3 (i may occasionnaly play with my xbox but i can live without it) I will mostly play on PC because of truck simulator, the r5? the r9? they have so many too choose from but the price is pretty much for the wheel base and not the wheel I just like the fact that you can buy a bundle ready to play with pedals and all to enjoy the simulation. Hopefully someone can give me an answer or maybe Mr 9to5toys can provide me with a link to a video if he did something like this in the past. You can as of now get the R5 bundle with the extra clutch pedal, Performance brake upgrade, and gated manual for $676. Imo, this is 100% the way to do it now. For less than $700 you're getting a setup that you'd realistically be fine with forever. By the time you get a manual shifter for the thrustmaster logi your $250-$300 away from getting the r5 with everything. Sure you're saving $250, but chances are you're going to want to replace it with a DD eventually anyways making the savings kind of redundant.

    lol 'beginner' cost. $625 as a first wheel is far too expensive. When starting out you don't even know if you are going to stick with sim racing so a very basic FF wheel is all you should get until you feel its worth it. This cost doesn't even include a cockpit /stand to mount it on. In Canadian dollars this set up is almost $850 without a place to mount properly. Not a price someone who doesn't even know if they are going to stick with it should spend.

      Never heard that aboug the r5? It gets warm like any other DD wheel, if you run it at 100% force 24/7, but it's one big alu heatsink with no fan, so you are all good. Most pros play around 3-4 nm. No car in real life requires as much force, as a 5,5 nm wheel can generate at max, to turn on corners, even if they are without steeringassist.

    is DD really worth it? Logitech for 6 years now and Im able to set top tens in DR2.0. ACC I'm a few seconds off from real world records. I feel like ppl who own G29 don't realize if you turn all the noise down from feedback and stick with self align then you can read the wheel far better. It's a wheel and shifter I can just slap on and off my desk with ease. With a lot of hobbies I see people get caught in traps where they think more money will make them better at something and it's just not the case for most hobbies I've gotten into so I never got a DD.

      Most have this judgment that they will gain seconds in the race, the DD wheels were made to give you more wraparound and asphalt details, I don't believe you can gain many seconds, with a G29 steering wheel you can run as fast as the DD wheels.
      The gain is much more in the immersion and for me this is worth the investment.
      The detailing of these dd flywheels are much greater than a flywheel per belt or gear, as I have both flywheels, believe that.
