I just randomly remembered curiosity today and decided to see what the winner got, apparently nothing but who knows this video is 3 years old and I can't be bothered to do more research at 1:50am so the mystery for me continues.
He did not get a response at all.
Must say, breaking the block was actually entertaining, and no one knew what was inside. Too bad the concept was made by an unreliable team of developers

This Curiosity cube was a crazy idea and hilarious outcome. As far as I remember, many people where smashing the cube endlessly for long days, but the winner admitted he accidentally found a new game on his phone and it just happened the last of the cube pieces near the center were left and he kept hitting the last one. He was damn lucky. I read it in some older news and was laughing out loud, just imagine the dedicated people who have invested in this hitting mindless boxes, to be outperformed by a newcomer who just happened to be at the right place right time.
And the game, I tried to connect and I couldn't most of the times. Crazy ideas, no good infrustructure for the number of players. Also, I was imagining it like a huge minecraft 3d cube, where you dig in 3d and maybe other interesting things happen, but no it's 2d layers of 2d boxes, where you break boxes like you would clear pixels in zoom mode on paint, so boring.
And now this story makes me like, wtf?
He got a life changing reward alright: Get used to disappointment!

He would have no case. He wasn't monetarily damaged, as Molyneux made no specific promise as to an amount, or under which specific conditions. How much would he sue for? Just make up a number? I suppose he could try it, but the kid seems smarter than that. Molyneux is a prick, but he knows how to be vague.
If that was an Australian gamer developer & the winner was in Australia, he could simply alert ACCC or the FTA 1987 and the developer would be obligated to fulfil his promise.
P.s. Hungry Jacks basically did the same thing, however after ACCC was alerted, they responded almost immediately.

Correct. Molyneux was incredibly vague. Verbal contracts are definitely a thing, as someone upthread pointed out, but he gave zero specifics, even verbally.
Court of public opinion often carries cases like these.

Unless when you download the game it clearly stated that he would get something, but the thing is, they were smart and never clearly stated what it was... so on paper they might be in the clear.
There were absolutely no contracts and the terms of acceptance of the game basically stated there could be no prize at all. It was a scam.
