You are an excellent teacher. I will follow your instructions, memorize the names of movements, and practice the way you teach. All your movements, so well explained, will make a better golfer of me, with stronger legs, better hips movements and concentration. At 75, I need to keep all of this well oiled.. Merci

Something just dawned on me as someone who progressed from Shotokan to American Kenpo (long story!). This is in light of your recent videos on Kenpo. In Kenpo’s beginner kata, Short Form 1, all of our movements are retreating & we only block (no striking). The idea is that it’s a beginnner’s kata and that as an absolute beginner, distance is your friend. In Heian Shodan, though, you advance into the opponent with first Gedan Barai and then Oi Zuki. However, advancing into the opponent’s space and striking doesn’t happen in Kenpo until Long Form 1-our 2nd kata! The idea is that now you’ve built up a skill level that allows you to do so. You step into the opponent with a Gedan Barai and Gyaku Zuki combination. Interesting contrast in how the 2 styles handle beginner level kata training!
