These 3 Italian girls are talented. Congratulations to win the second prize. I hope they will keep practicing KaTa. To learn the authentic Karate, it is important to focus on not just athleticism of Karate but also the spirit of Karate, Japan should send more good mentors (not coaches or instructors) to other countries. Like those 3 Italian girls are deserved to learn it from the best Karate master. (from Japan)
Ma Ta I agree. Being an italian karateka myself, I find a lack of Japanese masters here concerning not only Karate but all Budo. The strange thing is that we used to have some of the best Japanese masters in the past, 30/40 years ago. I would like to tell this story that occurred here in Italy. There was a great Dojo in Rome named "Fiamma Yamato", where my uncle was taught in Kendo and Iaido by Hideo Kobayashi Sensei. There were only Japanese masters in that Dojo. Kobayashi, whom only had 11 students by his own choice, was the best master one could ever hope to have. Unfortunately he committed seppuku here in Rome at the age of 50, in the 80's. He left 11 Haiku, one for each student he had. He was, and is, considered a true unequaled master. One on a million. He left his own Shinai to my uncle and now I have the honor to preserve it myself. I have been very lucky to study Iaido and Kendo with my uncle, being him student of Kobayashi, and to preserve his very own Shinai. Even though I am a former Karateka, I rarely heard of Japanese masters here now, and met only a couple who live and teach in Rome. Plus, I have no respect for Italian institutions and associations that regulate Karate in my country. They tear and shred the very meaning of Budo for sporting and senseless purpose, and rank master people who shoud not teach. I was member of those associations until kuro obi shodan, then read so many books by Japanese ancient masters of Budo and Zen to understand that when you have no true master, you have to be your master yourself, and find strenght in past ages. I forced to make Tsunetomo Yamamoto teach me through Hagakure, or Miyamoto Musashi through Gorin no Sho, or Takuan Soho and so on. I achieved nidan with a good italian master and now studying for sandan, though I won't ever again subscribe to an association to award me with a card telling me what I achieved in my life. I hope I did not bother or upset anyone with my super long comment, I just desire Budo to be considered and respected here in Italy as in any other place in the world for such the sublime thing it is. And for all the people that died for it, since it was born.
Better Italy or Japan? Both, guys, both! It's a final and it doesn't matter who is the winner: there are two teams over the rest of the world. They ALL are the best. That's it!
Yes, Japan won, and they deserved to. But this demonstration was excellent, and the team should be proud! This shows why you must be world class to even be in this competition.
For me, a good bunkai should have all three perform the kata part. Not just one person doing defense, it should have rotation like what the Japan team did. Kudos to both teams! Well done.
hounoNotenshi04 I agree! In fact, I believe that's what lost the Italy men's team their final against Japan. The bunkai concentration was solely on Luca Valdesi, so it felt like an action movie more than impressive honestly.
the Japanese show real fighting towards the other female on their team but Italy didn't show tht much energy punches...I guess the judges were looking for something tht shows they have a strong energy and impressive good form :3 in my calculations
Hmmm, there's not comparison, those japanese girls were simply excellent: energy, speed, though, execution and the bunkai was superb. No offense for the italian team, for i'm italian too.
jfpbman well wish granted! karate is officially announced as an Olympic sport! 6 fighters from around the world will compete in kumite and 30 fighters from around the world will compete in kata
I don't know much of Karate and I can't say which team performed better. The whole of the final sequence by team Japan made me think of Matrix-the movie whilst the Italian team performed a sequence that I'd say more down-to-earth and plausible of a combat between karatekas. I liked the Italian team better as I got the impression that team Japan put on a great show just to astound the audience rather than recreate a combat sequence that was impressive and at the same time believable.
And one last thing. During the whole performance I kept thinking of the Italian team leader as Rey Palpatine from the last three movies of the Star Wars saga. She looks somewhat similar with her ponytail and fierce look. Give her a lightsaber and we might be looking at a whole different kind of show ahah
I like the japanese kata, I can actually feel the power, the snap and the form. The itailan kata feels like synchronized swimming, a little too floaty for me personally.
Unlike other things they could have done.Music ,dance, softball, ect .This they will have and use for a life time. They have the tools to be safe.Daughter started at 7 now 18 holds 2nd black.Going to start training in other styles as well. Judo and kickboxing to get more rounded.cograds to thes ladies ,know what you went through to get there.❤
Definitively: as Tamano Sensei said, karate is like the water inside a bowl it is hot till it has fire under, and the fire is the practice :) I'm 54 and after 35 of practice I've resigned karate practice and teaching, so I'm no more than an old karate practitioner and a "former" goju master ..master ;)
i think where they lost points to japan was that during the sparring demonstration part all the three japanese chicks were attacked but only one of the Italian who was standing in the middle showed the complete sparring demo part. Also the sparring part of japanese almost looked like a full contact one.
Alessandra Cortis You don't even do karate but I agree that both teams did well. However, technically judging, in terms of the important part of the bunkai (showing every aspect of the kata: offensive and defensive), the team JAPAN managed to balance both very well and execute a powerful and strong performance.
Beautiful movements, yet what i miss, with all respects, are extra comments of directions (selecting defence in direction of the starting hand) and preference for lower level counterattacks ( if we are shorter than the opponent), which could only help, particularly the beginners. Best regards, Paul67, retired instructor of Karate

They erected trashy
Italian fighters are so cute and cool! ^^
Japanese are so powerful and speedy!
Japanese is also kinda cute and italian is also speedy and powerful ^^
The Japanese team spirit's were good...they support each other...
Better Italy or Japan?
Both, guys, both!
It's a final and it doesn't matter who is the winner: there are two teams over the rest of the world.
They ALL are the best.
That's it!
Not only their kata was synchronized but their breaths too, the best thing i watched today on youtube 😮
Exactly.. memorised not true karate
You ask me, the Japanese won this. Their Kata was more energetic and precise, and their fighting much more believeable
Should they actually fight? So this is a show?
Everyone can do as long as u can appreciate what is being done u reading? Ok
Magnifique
Yes
Kururunfa (久留頓破) (performed by the Japanese Team) is Goju-Ryu (剛柔流); while the Italian Team performed Annan (安南) which is Okinawan Ryuei-Ryu (劉衛流).
Appreciate this very much may you be blessed.
japan wins....but italy was good also.....
Yes, Japan won, and they deserved to. But this demonstration was excellent, and the team should be proud! This shows why you must be world class to even be in this competition.
Such a close call I bet!! What astonishing performances, kicks were out of this world! Especially the jump spin followed by the sweep! 6:03
man so proud to do karate and be italian...awesome achieve! Bests in europe!
My 2 cent, Italy had more complex forms; Japanese execution was flawless however, considerably more explosive too.
Deserved
After watching this i need a Big Mac from McDonalds
For me, a good bunkai should have all three perform the kata part. Not just one person doing defense, it should have rotation like what the Japan team did. Kudos to both teams! Well done.
hounoNotenshi04 original Bunkai has one defender.
hounoNotenshi04 I agree! In fact, I believe that's what lost the Italy men's team their final against Japan. The bunkai concentration was solely on Luca Valdesi, so it felt like an action movie more than impressive honestly.
Noah Mitchell really? Tell me more about it please, I didn't know that
the Japanese show real fighting towards the other female on their team but Italy didn't show tht much energy punches...I guess the judges were looking for something tht shows they have a strong energy and impressive good form :3 in my calculations
Jaz_gamergirl1 ermm... the ‘fighting’ as you called it is actually Bunkai, which is using the kata to fight and is 100% choreographed.
WOOWW!!!
EXELENT

both of them are fantastic
You just can't skip the japanese spirit!!
Hmmm, there's not comparison, those japanese girls were simply excellent: energy, speed, though, execution and the bunkai was superb. No offense for the italian team, for i'm italian too.

Nice ,, beautiful, execution timing perfect,,
Terima kasih banyak
The Italtian ladies performed very nice Kata and sparring demo. Well done.
I am crying. So beautifull and powerfull
muchisimas gracias equipo.
+J demonik
Amazing athletes!!! 😃🤎🥋
Good job girls keep it up
I like the japanese kata, I can actually feel the power, the snap and the form. The itailan kata feels like synchronized swimming, a little too floaty for me personally.

FANTASTIC 👌
Even their breathing are in sinchronism '-' 2:50
Matheus Baltazar de Lima that’s not breathing they slide they legs
i think where they lost points to japan was that during the sparring demonstration part all the three japanese chicks were attacked but only one of the Italian who was standing in the middle showed the complete sparring demo part. Also the sparring part of japanese almost looked like a full contact one.
BRAVO!
awesome teams, both of them. But i can see why the japan team was a little bit better :-) i think at least i can.. a little.. :D

I will also strive to do so
cool even for an old timer like me that has seen some of the best and worst kata over 46 yrs--these are great competitors
Jonathan raffo ,karate de
Tbh I think both teams did excellent. I really thought the Italians looked stronger but the Japanese team looked more like one functional unit.

No i dont do karate atm but did for 17 years.
cookiesandcream Why are you assuming she didn’t do karate? She did it for 17 years
Nice karate
This annan looks different, what style (Ryu-ha) of annan is this?
magnifique kata
I am an experienced kickboxer, and the power and speed of their side-kicks look very scary to me.
Japan sharp n fast. Perfect body balance.
❤ nice video ❤
Japan, Italy ..where are Germany, Romania , Hungary teams ?...like in good old times :D
I watched this at 2X speed and it was much better
no soy deporte extremo
