@@brendlol1 Average life expectancy for morbidly obese is still going to be 50's to 60's. They may be diabetic and need a triple bypass in their 30's and 40's, but you're still looking at an extra 10-15+ years than nature intended because of modern medicine.
Most people that are good at interpreting complex issues and giving morally just opinions are really good at putting themselves into other peoples shoes in order to gain perspective. Asmon is a level above that, he has the ability to put other people into his shoes in order to gain an even higher level of understanding, which also allows him to express himself so eloquently.
Im glad they got after her. I'm diabetic, and its a nightmare trying to get diabetic meds like Ozempic and Trulicity because of people like her. Even though the website for Trulicity says "This is not a weight loss drug", it is still given to fat rich people who don't wanna work for it. I had to go 8 months without any kind of insulin or diabetic meds because of people like her that take all the diabetic meds away from us and when we try to get it, insurance denies it because more fat people get it instead of diabetics. I have been in ERs literally dying because I couldn't get the medicine I needed because of this very reason. With even with 3 doctors and a ER dr stating to insurance why I HAVE to have that med, still gets denied due ot "why does he need weight loss drugs?"
All these "doctors" in the comments of every video, who haven't read any recent studies seem to misunderstand why non-obese diabetes are less common and assume all fat people are diabetic. The fact that you need these meds shatters their worldview because if you need them, it could happen to them too. Insurance adjusters a jerks either way. I hope you get the meds you need.
@@Gabonro The only way I can get them is if I have my disability attorney call them and threaten them with a lawsuit. Over the past 10 years, I have been through DKA and HHS 15 times. Insurance still denied me saying that " you're skinny already why do you need it?" Due to being denied meds for so long it's caused permanent damage to my stomach and muscle to where I have severe gastroparesis now. Due to that I vomit numerous times a week, can't hardly keep food down as stomach purges it back out. It's been a hellish 10 years for me. Yet still I have to theaten with lawyers in order to get the meds I need in order to stay alive.
Genuine question: what do weight loss drugs do for diabetes? Does it help regulate blood sugars or something? I thought people with diabetes just needed insulin (Genuinely asking, I have no idea)
@Frost.7xx It's actually a drug for diabetics that lowers fasting blood sugar, but it's being used for its side effects of weight loss. Ironically, that doesn't even work in all people. Weightloss can actually be dangerous in diabetics especially if they aren't already obese since diabetes is the inability to store and use sugar. Heres more info than you probably asked because I almost lost someone to this and learned more than I wanted to: You can't get fat if your body can't store sugar. You have to already have enough fat before diabetes to not die before they catch your disease... or slowly gain weight over years on a controlled diet because it's safer than having your blood sugar suddenly drop between meals while doing normal things such as driving since your body can't use the sugar in your liver like a normal person would. So here's a question and some cursed knowledge. If we assume obese is the BMI chart and not the point where you can recognize someone as fat. Why is diabetes associated with obese people almost exclusively? They survive longer.
As a 5'10, 115 pounds man I never said to anyone 'be like me'. I even said the opposite. Too skinny/fat is just no good. You should love yourself, not your pounds.
I think that is the key here. Love yourself, not your weight. In fact, you shouldn't love the shape you are in, no matter what. You can be in the "fine with your shape" but loving it... Nah.
Doesn't help I can't even get over 200 despite constantly gaming and gorging out on fattening food, mainly just to feed and relax my muscles from working out but that's about it...
I mean technically loving yourself is healthy but you also gotta be aware on your own health. Plus telling/encouraging people being fat is fine is horseshit.
It doesnt really matter. If people want to eat and die, thats fine. Just dont use those scooters all the time, they are glogging up my sidewalk. But why I should care about people who buy into fat acceptance I just dont understand. Maybe if they dont have health education and never learn of the dangers, but if thats the case fat acceptance is the least of your problems.
It's certainly a double-sided coin. Feeling good about yourself, whether it be a balding hairline or a fat belly, is important, as it is the only body you've got. But encouraging people to fck it, give up, and actively feed yourself till you get fat af is, that's the wrong side of that thin line. Harmful, reckless, and just wrong.
There is a difference between loving yourself in general and loving everything about yourself. It's a sin for a reason. She will never become healthy. She will never become better than she is.
Im not sure whats worse how accurate the reference is or the fact that she was absolutely not offended that shes the face of not giving a shit and being fat and in fact took it as a pride point that shes been made into a whole ass southpark episode
Celebrating being fat is actually the contrary of love yourself, it's more likely hating yourself than loving yourself. Love yourself means taking care of yourself, respecting yourself and not putting the needs of others over your own needs. There is also the part of "accepting your body the way it is" which is actually meant for things that can't realistically be changed on your body like missing a body part, having an ugly scar or your height but certainly not something like being fat because this can be changed. Personally after I heard of the concept of "love yourself" I started to improve my life significantly. I started eating healthier, started working out, started taking care of my health problems, started to follow my own wishes instead of accommodating others and due to all of that I lost 50 kg, got way happier, got a lot of new friends and just got a better person overall. I know it kinda sounds stupid that my life got turned around because of a phrase but sometimes when you are at a bad place in your life all you need are just the right words to hear to turn it around. It all also didn't happened immediately after I heard those words. I heard it in a song and didn't think much of it, I heard the artist talk about it and didn't think much of it, I read up more about it and didn't think much of it. After listening to the song one day I just somehow got the realisation that now is the time to not accommodate to others and follow my own wishes which made me gradually make more steps into the right direction.
I don't know you, but I dare to assume that you are not suffering from anxiety disorders. That is the main reason for my personal situation. It is like a prison. I can't see a doctor. I have no therapie, no medication and no support. But I have to pay into a health care system that does nothing for me. My mother hated me and my brother. She often said such lovely things like: "If your father had spritzed you at a train cart, you would have seen the world." I think of myself as a monster, I dislike mirrors or cameras. I prefer the evening hours, cause I am easily blinded by daylight and can not afford the glasses I would need. But I tend to support others in need.

One of the takeaways of what I understood from one of Mark Manson's videos was that self love should mainly stem from self-investment, not self-indulgent.
Trying to justify your bad decisions is not loving yourself. Trying to grow as a person is. One is lying to yourself and others, and the other is giving the self you love the best life you can.

No, you can 100% love yourself when you’re like that. In fact you *should.* Because taking care of your body and staying healthy is a form of self-love and care.
Your body isn't who you are/your identity, nor should it ever be. Love the good in you, but recognize the problems as problems and fight to change/fix them as best you can.

@@ThePaulper To be honest, I didn't read/comprehend your comment correctly and thought it went the other direction in the latter half. I'm really low on sleep, and I apologize for the mistake. We're on the same page that having the will and desire to take care of one's own body is loving as an action. =) To clarify what I was tying to communicate: One's identity is where they find their worth. No one should find their worth as a person in the state of their physical body. It's our vessel, a part of *what* we are, but it's not *who* we are. There's love as an action (to love on/serve), and there's true love as a feeling (to take pure, genuine delight in). Many people get mixed up into believing that loving themselves means feeling the latter for their actively damaging states/issues, and that living out the former by trying to fix their problems would somehow undermine the feeling of love they're supposed to have toward themselves. In the context of people like this woman, they lose themselves in their focus on their bodies, instead of focusing on the kind of person they are, which (in act) is just hurting one's self.
@@ThePaulper no, your body is not your brain, its just a flesh suit, stop saying nonsense, its bad for you. If we were gods and could take any aspect we wanted, then yes, your body IS you. But we are not gods, your body, you didnt choose it. Its not you. Your face is not your face, your voice is not your voice. Your body is not your shape. All of it can be changed. And it must be changed if wanted. The only thing that is you, is the energetic pattern that runs through your brain and never shuts down. Thats the only you. If i had a protesis, it would also be "an integral part of me" but you know what? it doesnt mean anything to say that. It just sounds beautiful, but its a fucking empty phrase that doesnt mean anything. your body is literally, by definition, not yourself
The crazy thing about it is that a lot of the body positive people on tiktok passed away months after saying accept urself for being fat. Like its ok to be chubby a little extra is not good to kill u but once u break 250 or more abd u know its not muscle u may need help getting that under control. I know everyone is different but when i was 225 i started having sleeping issues and heart palpitations every night thinking i was going to die but once i lost 30 pounds that all went away.
Huh. I think perhaps I've caught on to something I'm not supposed to. The body positivity, the chop your benis off trans stuff -- it's a form of the people behind the curtain doing a filter on the people of society. A self-removal social programming agenda. The people who fall for it are removing themselves from the population in one form or another. The ones who fall for it, end up dead for cardiovascular reasons or suicide, but their words stick around on social media for the next person to fall for. The survivors continue to perpetuate it in memory of the dead with no regard to what caused their death. A narcissistic, purposefully ignorant, vicious circle. But one I'm not part of so oh well. Not my problem.
Calling it "loving yourself." Feminism clearly failed this woman, becaues it USED to teach them that "when someone is physically abusing you, nomatter what they tell you, that's not love." Destroying your body and sending yourself hurtling to an early grave...that's not "loving yourself," even if you are smiling while you do it.
In a case like her, you should love yourself, not your body, and do something to change your body so you can love it and be proud of what you accomplished, but I will never agree obese people should love their body, it will kill them, that's the same as saying a drug addict should love drugs, no they shouldn't, it's bad for you, and there is no more to it.

The best way to show people that you don’t care what they think is to constantly make a big deal about you reacting to them and then saying you don’t care. This really doesn’t have the effect she thinks it does. The show is making fun of you for being a dumb, unhealthy, poor influence in people. But you think it’s good to be recognized, and that means you’re making a positive difference? South Park echoes the majority of public thought. It just shows how out of touch Hollywood celebrities are, when they can see something like this and think it’s good to be recognized for what they are being mocked for doing. It’s not like people don’t understand you or your message. They do. And they’re mocking you for it and calling you a bad influence.
The charm of South Park is it does not target just the left, but the right, religion and anyone and anything in power. Noone can feel insulted because they dont make difference who they go after. But they also are capable of realizing when they were wrong. Like when they made fun of Al Gore and then a decade later they made an episode that was basicaly sain he was right.
@@miafiolekova5817 South park doesn't give a fuck about politics, they just see the world and points shit out. Jokes are taken out of context and/or reflect the extreme sides of a topic, to take it seriously or not being able to laugh at yourself is the epitome of fucking up imo. And South Park usually makes of things that can be changed, or as a reflection on things society does that is just wrong without sugar coating it. It's great.
I agree with the "love yourself" message. Everyone should have the amazing chance of loving themselves, because self hatred and poor self esteem is like having a bully living inside your head. Just love yourself enough that you also want the best for yourself in terms of health. Someone who truly loves you might not always be kind or forgiving if you hurt yourself, but they are still looking out and want the best for you. Be your own best friend, not a self-simp.
I'd say, love yourself, but in this case, not your body, love yourself and push yourself to change your body, and then you can love it and be proud of your accomplishment, we have always called out what's bad for people, we call out on drug addicts, we call out on alcoholics, we call out on smokers, but for some reason, now it's not ok to call out fat people, and we tell them it's ok, and they should love themselves, would you tell an addict to love drugs? And that it's ok? And it won't kill them? No, and neither you should tell that to fat people, feelings are not more important than health, science and reality.

Body acceptance is not feeling overly depressed if you're slightly overweight and trying to lose weight, or if you have a medical issue that makes it way harder to exercise, meaning you'd be on average more overweight (paraplegia for example), but if you're 100 pounds overweight and have the ability to lose it, then you should be trying to lose it.
That's the real message, to not let your weight DEFINE who you atr forever, because you can get healthier, but all these tiktokers and mainstream celebrities KNOW what appeals to people's emotions, and it's manipulative and damaging vulnerable young peole.
Then again, Genshin Impact exist, so there's that.

I need the meds because when I go into DKA blood starts to turn acidic and it literally dissolves muscle tissue. Lowest I was down to was 150lbs at 6'5".
I'd do extensive research into before you take the first dose. Very extensive research.
Genuine question: what do weight loss drugs do for diabetes?
Does it help regulate blood sugars or something? I thought people with diabetes just needed insulin
(Genuinely asking, I have no idea)
@Frost.7xx It's actually a drug for diabetics that lowers fasting blood sugar, but it's being used for its side effects of weight loss. Ironically, that doesn't even work in all people. Weightloss can actually be dangerous in diabetics especially if they aren't already obese since diabetes is the inability to store and use sugar.
Heres more info than you probably asked because I almost lost someone to this and learned more than I wanted to:
You can't get fat if your body can't store sugar.
2:08 feeling shamed by her weight so plays the gender card instead. Some of those people in colorado are infact women..

I think that is the key here.
Love yourself, not your weight. In fact, you shouldn't love the shape you are in, no matter what.
You can be in the "fine with your shape" but loving it... Nah.

It’s amazing how delusional she can be after seeing the ad
If you *love* yourself , you *care* about yourself.
That's the whole fucking irony of this.
Yep. This isn't about love, its about enabling her own delusions.
Taking care of one's body is also a part of loving yourself, that's what those people don't seem to get.
It matters to the over worked doctors having to work triple hard to keep you fatties living.
Agreed. "Love yourself" means do what's needed to improve your quality of life, not continue engaging in excess.

@@ThePaulper To be honest, I didn't read/comprehend your comment correctly and thought it went the other direction in the latter half. I'm really low on sleep, and I apologize for the mistake.
We're on the same page that having the will and desire to take care of one's own body is loving as an action. =)
To clarify what I was tying to communicate: One's identity is where they find their worth.
Destroying your body and sending yourself hurtling to an early grave...that's not "loving yourself," even if you are smiling while you do it.

You’ve already booked a win by realizing your choices could come back to haunt you, and changing the choices you make for it. 👍
