Either people really are getting dumber, or media is creating that perception by elevating and amplifying the stupid ones. Stupid people certainly do get a lot more attention these days, when before the way society treated stupid people at least kept them from sticking their heads up.
You know, that reminds me of a story I remember in Fable 2. I'll shorten it here, but a hobgoblin dresses in a man's clothes and goes into a human town successfully passing as a human. But, when people start talking to him, he speaks goblin and they immediately notice and kill him. Moral of the story: It's better to keep your mouth shut and be thought an idiot, than to open it and be proved one.

@somethinglastname888 I didn't hate on them to hate on them lol. I wasn't a huge fan of so MUCH cgi , and jar jar gave me heart burn lol. I also felt they did anakin dirty , buy the time of revenge of the sith, anakin was a general , fought mamy battles and wars, lead soldiers into battle , so seeing him whine like a child bothered me. The fights , storyline, and everything else was great. I'm just old and grew up on the original trilogy, so I'll always lean towards it, but they have definitely grown on me over the years , especially after the clone wars filled in the holes that were in the prequels and helped add more reliability to characters and new storyline added.
Thing is, yes, the prequels are a lot better than crap like Acolyte or Book of Boba Fett. But that’s such an extremely low bar, really. I mean it’s like the Holiday Special is also better. Still doesn’t make the prequels good, especially compared to the OT.
For people that don't know, the Acolyte's showrunner was Harvey Weinstein's personal assistant for years. After being questioned multiple times she said she never witnessed any incidents and Harvey was always a class act to her 💀
Yeah, one of the problems nowadays are that "writers" don't understand concept of show don't tell. Let the audience come to their own conclusions about characters. Don't tell me she is heroic, witty, compassionate - show it! For example, Elrond in The Fellowship of the Ring. First scene of a movie we see him in the slopes of Mt Doom giving orders to his army and fighting orcs. As a viewer I see him as a leader of elves and as a skilful warrior! Good example of show, don't tell.
Disney hires based on race and sexuality you don’t stand much of a chance if you’re white and they have been doing it for years it’s illegal to do that but they somehow manage trying to be subtle about it but we all know

@@kennethconklin4140because the prequels despite their enormous flaws feel like films made by people who wanted to make a good story, as opposed to this which feels like nothing.

Also has one of the biggest discrepencies on Rotten tomatoes of all time. 87% critics positive rating, 14% audience positive rating. Shows that you can't really trust critics in this day and age either.
Rotten Tomatoes has always pandered to this ideology. That website is utter activist trash and I can't fathom why anyone would mention its ratings, ever.
Critics are just the exact the same type of people as the stars being casted. It's all about showing support to the "right thing" and not supporting the "wrong thing". Actual quality of the content be damned. Plus you have to understand that critics are in position of some sort of power (a lot less so nowadays) and they like it because in some cases they can try to flex it and force smaller companies to submit. And with a huge franchises like Star Wars they like to be showed premieres in advance, they like to be in the "inner circle" (I mean an exclusive club of some sort), and if you shit on something this big, you're likely going to be blacklisted and taken away from the "inner circle". So naturally critics have evolved from being experts on the content they review to just grifters who want free shit and exclusive treatment.
You do know the website Rotten Tomatoes is literally bought and paid for, right? You do know they sold out to Warner Bros. and NBC/Universal years ago, right?
I've been taught by my parents nearly 30 years ago that movie critic opinions mean nothing and it's a waste of time to care - I don't think much changed ^^
I like how the only thing she can say about her character is "she's a powerful leader". Cause she's not even playing a character. She's playing an NPC with a pre-programmed purpose
They're all "powerful" and "leaders", even when they lead no one, accomplish nothing, never save anyone and only help themselves to things handed to them for no reason, while the male characters around them are portrayed as being on the spectrum, having temper tantrums and being evil. Amazing, she's so strong and such a leader!
In the movies there is a clear " good vs evil" but in the expanded universe, for instance in the bane trilogy, philosophically there isn't a clear good or evil side between sith and jedi.
@@polocatfan I don't disagree what that. But I also remember George Lucy's himself saying on interviews that it is a "classic hood vs evil story". Also, back in the day when The Phantom Menace was in the movies, he said they did research on evil figures from different mythologies around the world, and got to the conclusion that "evil has horns" (when talking about the concept of Darth Maul).
Lord of the Rings: "We made a promise to ourselves at the beginning of the process that we weren't going to put any of our own politics, our own messages or our own themes into these movies. ... In a way, we were trying to make these films for him, not for ourselves." - Peter Jackson Anything today: ''So we did everything we could to fuck up the original, inject our own views and politics into and and ruin an entire franchise for the sake of pushing our own agenda.. we don't even care for the source material''.
Especially when they can just focus on finding their views and politics in the original. Lord of the Rings has Galadriel and Eowyn as strong female characters but when making Rings of Power they choose to disregard the source material when they can just look for their views within it. Peter Jackson even added to this by showcasing more of Arwen’s character in the film. The Witcher has both strong female characters (Ciri and the sorceresses) and LGBT representation (Ciri, Philippa), but when making the show they still chose to change the source material. The original Star Wars trilogy had Princess Leia. Since then we’ve also had Ashoka (from the clone wars), Padme, Mon Mothma, and a ton of other strong female characters in Star Wars. They just think that the only way to incorporate representation is blatantly and by calling it out, since they appear to be blind to examples of it being done correctly.
It's wild to me that something normal like sexual preference is considered "politics". I'm a straight male and I'm glad no one on the left considers my sexual preference a political debate yet here we are incels. The quality of the show has nothing to do with the sexual preferences of the cast and characters. Star Wars has always been catered towards simple minded nerds.

Natalie Portman: Actual breakdown of what her character is, who she is, what she represents in the story, how it represents her understanding of her own beliefs, and what it means for the overall story.

That was Pixar's Turning Red.
It's clearly about a child strugling to transition from a girl to her true self, whatever that was. And the patriarchal priest forbidding it.

"There is no good or evil in Star Wars"
Star Wars is an explicit tale about good vs evil. One of the most basic and trasnparent ones.
Shhhhh. Don't point out things that disagree with the message.
They say that because they are evil.
The main movies maybe, but there are many examples where that's not the case, andor, rogue one, many comic books. Star wars is more than just 9 movies, you know
Life is complicated. Often, we are forced to choose between "the lesser of two evils"...
Which is exactly the reason that having clear good vs. evil has such widespread appeal.
There's no moral ambiguity... and everyone knows who to root for... so for 2 hours (approx), everyone in the audience can be on the same side.
So transparent it's almost like it was written that way so children could understand it, become obsessed and buy toys.
I used to think Star Wars fans were just angry for no reason, but I understand now.
Leslie: “We invented the strong woman leader”
Padme, Leia, Ashoka, Mon Mothma, Jyn Erso, Sabine, Bo-Katan, Cara Dune, Bastila: “bruh”
And Hera.
I guess Bastilla ans Sabine are kinda odd here, they're good warriors but not a leaders. Satile shan and Gera sindulla fit better(sorry for names, idk how it's written in english)

The final clip with the interview to Natalie Portman really shows the difference between true feminism and today pseudo feminism
And the difference between her professional, mature behavior vs their loud, obnoxious, immature behavior is painful.
I would say it’s gone beyond that. It's become some weird, narcissistic, postmodernist nonsense.
True feminism and modern feminism are just different stages of the same ideology.
No, it doesn't, it shows the difference between a girl who has been perfecting his craft since she could walk, and a girl who wants to be famous.

Do you wanna hear the saddest part? They don't get along even among themselves. They hate each other and life too much, while they claim they don't. I believe at some point, when they'll win over heterosexuality (cause, biblically speaking here, they will, eventually) they will fight among themselves just because one's cause is better than the other and nobody will be able to stop them cause they will become unreasonable. You won't be able to talk back to them because their egos, their pride will not allow it. A real life example a US GRF carrier has a crew of 2600 and is 330m long you could fit 480 US supercarriers end to end inside the death star, you would need 10's of thousands of supercarriers to fill the death star.

There was once a sith named darth nihilus (may have spelled it wrong) and he used to go to different planets across the galaxy and drain them of their life force. He had an eternal hunger and killed who knows how many whole planets doing this. But yeah there’s no good or bad just morally conflicted….
Are you kidding me? Don't you remember back in the Original Trilogy it was always about 'The Dark Side', 'The Light Side', and the ever prevalent, 'Morally Gray Side'? 99% of all force users used the 'Morally Gray' side of the force...even when Yoda was training Anakin on Dagobah he talked about the morally gray side of the force for like three hours straight...jeez, I'm almost wondering if any of you have even watched the originals...
That's why before the Emperor told Anakin, "I am your father.", he stated, "If you only knew the power of the Morally Gray side!"

They were never bad. Sure the dialogue was pretty cringe and the acting wooden, but goddamn, at least those movies still had the spirit of star wars. Then goes on with things about the character where only like two of the things were correct and displays that she doesnt actually know anything about said character. Only for the two nerdy guys interveiwing her were basically like "Uh huh, uh huh, whatever you say, pretty lady on our couch."
If she knew nothing about the character... own it. She's an actress, people would understand. Berry owned it. Jackmam owned it.
