I was having a conversation with a friend of mine about bengal cats and some random lady walked up to us and inserted herself in the talk (it was completely unprovoked). She said, "oh I love bengal cats!" So I said, "oh sorry we were talking about BAGELS." She looks confused and a little scared, to be honest, probably thinking she was losing her hearing. Then she says, "bagels are ok," and shuffles off looking dejected. Meanwhile I turn back to my friend and her face is blue from holding in laughter. It wasn't a funny joke, but the nosy lady's complete inability to detect she was being screwed with killed her.
The real problem is that you just think of them as a nosy person instead of someone just trying to be friendly and socialize. That could have been a wholesome and normal conversation if you guys hadn't decided to be dicks for no reason.
