I do like the thematic style of these rules. But it hurts when you have an army of a few squigs, a few trolls, a few spiders and some gitz. I’m sure I’m not the only army that feels like I’m going to need to push a unit type to be competitive
The armies should still be mixed. While you can take all trolls you loose on points games without hoppers/spiders/wolves to go do objectives and protect flanks, or wizards to teleport/ set up moon. Same for squigs, they can’t take the crack back and can be slow to revive so giving them a follow up anchor unit like trolls or shootas can help in the late game. You should build around the core you like and then take the other stuff to support it.
Looking at those traits youd just pick the one you take most of. So mostly squiggs? Takr squigg formation. Taking big blocks of gitz, take the goblin one. Only exception is the trogg one. Its really good and troggs are expensive so makes sense. But dont feel like you cant mix and match cause you can.

if I remember it said you can bring back half rounding up so if you only have a unit of 3 rockgut thats 2 back? practically the whole thing sounds nice

Thank you Rob for this very complete review and the time stamps (thanks to @TheVardek13 as well below). A bit concerned about the Gitz, not only because of the MANY nerfs (although that needs to be put in comparison in the next edition and with other armies) but because most of warscrolls look duller. On top of that, it's like the numerous amount of feedbacks of players have not been taking in account. They kept D6 damages for some profiles (Troggboss, Fangs of Manglers) which is nonsense, spiders or snarlfangs still look crappy, Rabble-Rowza is still one of the biggest joke ever. Even at this early state, I see many warscrolls questionable and some of them will need EXTREMELY cheap point cost to be considered. Troggoths look more than fine, maybe because they haven't been nerf as hard as the rest. I love this part of the army, I just don't wish to see only them on tabletop. I still love this army and will continue to play it whatever happens and I hope my concerns are wrong !
Completely with you on this one. Firstly great review Rob, thanks. I'm a little gutted on the nerfs. It feels almost like the message is 'Take Trolls or have a harder time'. The manglers have been hit hard and the other squig units are then all aligned too. I'm worried but waiting on points where hopefully they don't follow the same route as expected with most armies that points have gone up.
Few thoughts…. 1. Great video thank you so much for your content!!! 2. I feel like the saves across the army were designed with snuffler ward saves in mind. Like they were too afraid to hand out a decent save with the ward available. 3. For spiders, keep in mind that all the Arocks can literally cover the whole objective not letting enemies on it
I think the giant boing on the mangler squigs will be good for tying up backline ranged attackers. Jump over their screening units and stop their backline archers from shooting.
Snarlfang Riders were a Warcry Warband, and based off the other Grots that don't worship the Bad Moon. Whether the Gitmob will be added to the game latter as a 5th type of Gloomspite or not is irelevant, but thats why they exist.
Anyone else notice the effect on squig rage on the mangler squig doesn't make sense? It's states that as it gets more angry it does more damage, but the rules are the reverse.
Does anyone know if I can still take dankhold troggs as a unit of two? I guess no because they are monsters now but hopefully I’m wrong. Giz are my mane faction and this war scrolls feel like a hit in the face. Let’s see how it plays compared to the other army’s but man I’m a bit sad right now

Ngl I am so gutted about the armor save on the mangler squig cuz we've seen very basic units that have rend 1 already and gain an addition 1 on a charge or if it's fighting a monster so I think this unit is gonna kinda suck in play saying that it is still a very cool looking model and I'd probably still get it

While the webspinner on foot having a control score of 5 is probably a typo all other foot heroes have a control score of 5 under the light of the moon (since they’re all moonclan)… but it probably is a typo

I haven't seen anywhere yet about re-replacing a unit. So a unit of 20 squigs gets replaced by a different unit of 10, then can that unit of 10 get replaced by a new unit of 5? It normally says on the abilities that the unit cannot be replaced more than once but I haven't seen that statement yet
After watching this when it came out and listening to robs hopes for cheaps units and shock that things like the manglers were kind of garbag but might ne cheap. It is funny as a seasoned GS player to see the points drop that they have nerfed all the fun units into the ground and side graded the troggs. The only real surprise is boingrots being Ccccheap. I genuinely believe GW does not want these guys to be good hahaha.
I had a question, maybe you can clarify, for (roll a d3. on a 2+ ... ) i read that as roll the dice and on 3+ which translates to 2 or 3 for a d3 thats when it occurs or is it 2+ for the d6 but the wounds is based on a d3?
Pretty much its "roll a dice, as long as the result is not a 1, on a 2 do 1 MD, 3-4 do 2 MD, and 5-6 do 3 MD." So its a D3, but the first bit is just based on the dice result rather than the conversion to D3.
I think it fun how terrain can be destroyed. Sucks if you’re Loonshrine gets destroyed but I see it as still playing a role and soaking up 14 damage rather than hitting your units.
Just realised when going to be a gloomspite shaman… we don’t have them anymore? Where are our cheap little pointed hatted level 1 wizards gone?! They had a great range and personality. But have no rules now. wtf?
Yeah yeah,, playing lots of little shamsns running, flying, teleporting around the board chaotically casting magic, manifestians. Sounds like a fun time frustrating an opponent.
Initial thought: GW has no idea how to make spiders good or inviting enought to invest and play They really want you to play troggs/squigs. Overall, most abilites happen on dice rolls which sucks, but I think every army got the same treatments so it's probably okay. What the heck happened to the warcry/underworlds warbands units? Not part of AOS anymore? Lame. Final thought: one lone gitmob unit...that kinda sucks...maybe we get a new gitmob subfaction when the book releases? One can hope...
Mangler solution: gobbapalooza add 1 rend, squigalanch add 1 attack to gobs/bite, all out attack +1 hit. It's something anyway. Give him fight another day, hope he doesnt get hit with a strike last and he should do something useful. He's probably only going to get one good chance so make it count. Hope non hero sits around 180 - 200 pts, hero version maybe 260 but prob 280
They nerfed my spiders :( no more scuttleboss on gigantic spider and the flinger no longer gives strike last. However the flinger actually can land hits now, unlike before.
Huzzah good sir,, and thank you thank you. Hopefully I'll get to field them sometime this Edition HaHa. Even if my Favorite part of the Faction,, the creepy cool Spiderfang have been ... adjusted poorly. No matter though they will scuttle across the field sowing destruction as they go. But i got some Moonclan , Fanatics, 1 unit of Boingrot Bounders and Rockgut Troggoths, plus some other named units that i can bolster them up. (or not like i said before,, I've never played.) Go go Gloomspite Gitz!
not looking great for gitz imo. There are a few stars, like trugg and rockguts, but a lot of stuff seems to have gotten nerfed pretty severely. Spiders in particular are looking rough, even if the webspinner on foot's new ability is super cool. Lost the buff to mortals on the spidershrine's spell + down to 1 cast and snufflers and spore splattas being locked out of buffing spiders. Fellwaters look really weak to me. They ate a ton of nerfs, while rockguts remained mostly the same, and with the unleash hell change its way harder to actually apply the vomit debuff. The timing and restrictions on fanatics are massive nerfs. Squigs look to have some play for sure though.
To answer your question, i happen to play only arachnarok in my 2000pts. Points came out yesterday. So overpriced compared to 3rd ed, im down to 6 arachnarok spiders, from 8, and lost all my 15 spider riders too. Considering their stat cards, GW has effectively destroyed the spider players.
Sad to hear that,, really as I never got a chance to play them in prior edition's. Oh well still gonna field them though when I get the chance. I love the way they look on a board and sometimes they unnerve enough to allow a win.

ball and chain attached to a goblin on meth: 4/3/-2/d3. ball and chain attached to a pair of bouncing mini vans with teeth on meth: 4/4/-/d3. i want to know which gw writer got steamrolled by manglers and is holding a grudge.
Manglers are what inspired me to play Gitz and start collecting AoS so I can't be excited about this. Ball and chain on mangler having 0 rend down from 2 and a worse armor save feels really bad. I am bummed. I loved playing an army where I was lightning fast and now all squigs are much slower. Why does the ball and chain of fanatics do 2 rend but the ball and chain of mangler does 0? Same rend as a stabba. If you care about making a strong cohesive list battle formations really shoehorn you into not mixing your troggs/squigs/spiders. If the points have changed dramatically and I can include 2 more manglers and 20 more squig hoppers I will change my tune dramatically but until then this isn't eliciting joy.
I'm currently optimistic they'll drop in points quite a long. Manglers were already a bit of a fun but questionable pick, and worsening the save by 1 and really neutering output, let alone removing 2" from them, means they really should see a drop...
Brutal nerf on the Fungoid Shaman although if he's come down in points to fill the role of cheap caster I'm not as upset. Nasty dent on the Loonboss on giant Squig too although if he drops in points accordingly I still see a definite place for him.
James workshop HATES the spiders oh my god. The difference between them and the other two portions of the army are insane. As an ardent spider fan, this is extremely disappointing. Wouldn't be surprised if spiders end up getting squatted. Rules this bad and spiderboss already being taken away... Signs aren't good 😢
@Karnagar - I refuse to believe in that and rebuke the idea. I'll field them regardless of the consequences. They look cool and the Rule of Cool is paramount. IMO

Thanks, nice video. And oof,... big nerfs for spiders and boingrots. Hoppers still have the same, in my opinion, useless ability. How often do you succeed in moving over troops while staying outside of 3" with them? I've never had more than a handful being able to pass over enemy units. Trolls are looking fine though!
I think Boingrots are nerfed as a unit of 10. Unit of 5 is sort of the same. I believe all units got a points decrease to fit more characters into your army.
@@EntropicEcho I watched a bat rep yesterday. In 3rd you are looking at 2470 points. That’s a big reduction for 4th. So, overall we are weaker per unit but probably stronger as an army.

Just realised when going to be a gloomspite shaman… we don’t have them anymore? Where are our cheap little pointed hatted level 1 wizards gone?! They had a great range and personality. But have no rules now. wtf?
Yeah yeah,, playing lots of little shamsns running, flying, teleporting around the board chaotically casting magic, manifestians. Sounds like a fun time frustrating an opponent.

They really want you to play troggs/squigs. Overall, most abilites happen on dice rolls which sucks, but I think every army got the same treatments so it's probably okay.
What the heck happened to the warcry/underworlds warbands units? Not part of AOS anymore? Lame.
Final thought: one lone gitmob unit...that kinda sucks...maybe we get a new gitmob subfaction when the book releases? One can hope...
Mangler solution: gobbapalooza add 1 rend, squigalanch add 1 attack to gobs/bite, all out attack +1 hit. It's something anyway. Give him fight another day, hope he doesnt get hit with a strike last and he should do something useful. He's probably only going to get one good chance so make it count. Hope non hero sits around 180 - 200 pts, hero version maybe 260 but prob 280
They nerfed my spiders :( no more scuttleboss on gigantic spider and the flinger no longer gives strike last. However the flinger actually can land hits now, unlike before.
Are the Aleguzzler and Scuttleboss on Spider gone?
I believe scuttle boss is gone but I don't know about aleguzzler

Huzzah good sir,, and thank you thank you. Hopefully I'll get to field them sometime this Edition HaHa. Even if my Favorite part of the Faction,, the creepy cool Spiderfang have been ... adjusted poorly. No matter though they will scuttle across the field sowing destruction as they go. But i got some Moonclan , Fanatics, 1 unit of Boingrot Bounders and Rockgut Troggoths, plus some other named units that i can bolster them up. (or not like i said before,, I've never played.)

how can you teleport kragnos in your opponents turn, isnt hand of gork only in your turn?
Core rules there is a command to cast on your opponents turn at a -1 to cast

not looking great for gitz imo. There are a few stars, like trugg and rockguts, but a lot of stuff seems to have gotten nerfed pretty severely. Spiders in particular are looking rough, even if the webspinner on foot's new ability is super cool. Lost the buff to mortals on the spidershrine's spell + down to 1 cast and snufflers and spore splattas being locked out of buffing spiders.
Fellwaters look really weak to me. They ate a ton of nerfs, while rockguts remained mostly the same, and with the unleash hell change its way harder to actually apply the vomit debuff.
The timing and restrictions on fanatics are massive nerfs.
Squigs look to have some play for sure though.

Why does Rob keeps repeating that you can use the spell lores at your opponent turn if the spell says “your hero phase”, am I missing something?
The command ability says, cast a spell in your opponents turn AS IF it was YOUR HERO PHASE. Caps just for emphasis not be aggressive. Hope that helps

To answer your question, i happen to play only arachnarok in my 2000pts. Points came out yesterday. So overpriced compared to 3rd ed, im down to 6 arachnarok spiders, from 8, and lost all my 15 spider riders too. Considering their stat cards, GW has effectively destroyed the spider players.
Sad to hear that,, really as I never got a chance to play them in prior edition's. Oh well still gonna field them though when I get the chance. I love the way they look on a board and sometimes they unnerve enough to allow a win.

Manglers are what inspired me to play Gitz and start collecting AoS so I can't be excited about this. Ball and chain on mangler having 0 rend down from 2 and a worse armor save feels really bad. I am bummed. I loved playing an army where I was lightning fast and now all squigs are much slower. Why does the ball and chain of fanatics do 2 rend but the ball and chain of mangler does 0? Same rend as a stabba. If you care about making a strong cohesive list battle formations really shoehorn you into not mixing your troggs/squigs/spiders. If the points have changed dramatically and I can include 2 more manglers and 20 more squig hoppers I will change my tune dramatically but until then this isn't eliciting joy.
I'm currently optimistic they'll drop in points quite a long. Manglers were already a bit of a fun but questionable pick, and worsening the save by 1 and really neutering output, let alone removing 2" from them, means they really should see a drop...
Don't forget how squigs lost run and charge as well.

Brutal nerf on the Fungoid Shaman although if he's come down in points to fill the role of cheap caster I'm not as upset.
Nasty dent on the Loonboss on giant Squig too although if he drops in points accordingly I still see a definite place for him.
James workshop HATES the spiders oh my god. The difference between them and the other two portions of the army are insane. As an ardent spider fan, this is extremely disappointing. Wouldn't be surprised if spiders end up getting squatted. Rules this bad and spiderboss already being taken away... Signs aren't good 😢
@Karnagar - I refuse to believe in that and rebuke the idea. I'll field them regardless of the consequences. They look cool and the Rule of Cool is paramount. IMO

I was really hoping for viable spiders, but it seems like theyre as sucky as ever. Sigh. The lone arachnarok's attacks are all companion, too. SIGH.

Thanks, nice video. And oof,... big nerfs for spiders and boingrots. Hoppers still have the same, in my opinion, useless ability. How often do you succeed in moving over troops while staying outside of 3" with them? I've never had more than a handful being able to pass over enemy units. Trolls are looking fine though!
I think Boingrots are nerfed as a unit of 10. Unit of 5 is sort of the same. I believe all units got a points decrease to fit more characters into your army.

@@EntropicEcho I watched a bat rep yesterday. In 3rd you are looking at 2470 points. That’s a big reduction for 4th. So, overall we are weaker per unit but probably stronger as an army.
