Somewhat niche use case for the Tzeentch mark: From the way it's worded, I'm pretty sure you also get to make ward rolls for the damage you take for failing Spite-Tongue Curse. That propably still isn't enough for you to take the Tzeentch mark, but it's something to consider at least
Clarification at about an hour in: You cannot bring a Strike Last unit up to Fight with a unit that has Strike First or Normal Fight. Rules 19.0. Sidebar explains that.
Slaves to Darkness, look crazy fun this edition. But at the expense of very high points across the board. Yes you may want multiple DP' but the points add up fast! Alternatively you can have a lot of different lists to suit your needs at tournament/have fun with your buddies.
In my experience so far, Chariots are kind of amazing at being a tarpit or a distraction Carnifex. They're *just* killy enough that one running around freely can at least pose a problem to your opponents backline and they don't exactly break the bank at 110 points. Even at a 4+ save, this thing will eat quite a bit of damage that won't hit any of your more important units. I'd also somewhat disagree with your take on Legionnaires - their statline is okay when you take into account that they're just 80 Points. Chaff with Rend that hits on threes and costs less than a unit of Steelhelms? That's a really sweet deal imo.
Raptorix's make a great moving screen for Chaos Knights. I use them and honestly, keeping the enemy off of the important units is worth their points for me. Besides, if you go first, throw them out there and start despoiling the field in a Gods' Wrath Warband

As smashy as this army is and people are loving it, I enjoy theming my chaos armies with only one mark, Slaanesh. I feel like it's quite a miss when there are only 2 marks that are a much more obvious choice. I was hoping for some internal balance with the marks. Oh well .. still fun to see people excited.

Me and my brother just played are 1st game of 4th yesterday. I got to say I love pretty much everything about this edition. That being said I find the slaves AOP options so lackluster, traits didn’t feel much better wishing universal ones come back in the seasons
Why would you not be able to Ruinous Favour the same unit multiple times in the same hero phase? I don't think Rule of One would come in at any point since Ruinous Favour isn't a passive (and the one you gain explicitly says you can be affected by it multiple times.)
Okay, so if I take a Lord on a Karkadrak, I can take a Myrmidon under him as a Ruinous Champion. Can I take a unit of Theridons under the Myrmidon as part of the Lord's regiment or does he need to be taken as a leader of his own regiment to unlock them?
I guess im probably going to be going between the mortal wound bomb subfaction and the darkoath subfaction depending which units i want to play each game.
is the Brands oathbound going to be able to be taken in khorne even though they have a wizard? in the points profiles today they are listed to be allowed in BoK. 3 units for bloodtithe and a wizard for 250 doesnt sound too bad.
I dunno how I feel about this edition for StD, almost everything they have is focused around controling objectives and holding objectives, meanwhile I look at CoS and almost all their units and rules are centered around over killing anything that so much as glances at them, with heroes who doe something like 24 wounds on average and having Rend 3 with multiple attacks adding up over 12, its just super weird, it feels like the rules got mixed around and the killey focused rules got handed to Cities and the objective control rules got mixed up and handed to chaos.
@@halflifeger4179 tell that to 2x10 chaos warriors with mark of Nurg, 2x Gorebeast chariots with Mark of nurgle, a chaos lord on foot, a chaos warshrine and chosen of chaos with Mark of Khorne, because a single squad of dark elf executioners took on all those and massacred them by themselves, chaos atm has no special rules, no special abilities, our rules all center around holding an objective and getting slightly more fighty if an enemy unit tries to take it, meanwhile CoS are passing out debuffs to hit and wound to anything that gets close to them, improving the to hit and wound and rend characteristic of their units as well as doing mortals on 5+ and having 3 attacks standing still with ranged units, they are a VERY killey army and chaos is a very static flat statline army.
Hi man , I have a question what is a Ruinous Champion and where can I see that keyword? At the point list a lot of heroes open a slot that sat 0-1 Ruinous Champion but at the warscrolls I don't find that keyword.
Unfortunately for us S2D players....every time Rob said here when discussing these warscrolls "as long as he's like 50-60 points and not 140 he's great"...in almost every single case, they points-costed us COMICALLY high. I don't know who did the points for S2D but day-um....if you try to make use of any of these cool synergies, you're only getting like 3 units on the battlefield lol
The Wilderfiend definitely got nerfed hard. It lost half its abilities, especially its main selling point for me, which is the ability that lets it come back onto the field every time a Darkoath hero dies.
Biggest loser: Chaos Sorcerer Lord lost the best warscroll spell in the game, 3d6 casting, and 2 spellcasts. In addition, the ward they hand out is not only one 3+ roll, but only one CSL can use it per turn. There were valid lists with 3 of these, but now I don't know why you would bring one when a Gaunt Summoner is double the casts for just a few more points. Let's hope CSLs get more support with the Codex. In the current version, the Chosen feel like they have damage on par with charging Knights, but they have less survivability and mobility for the same points cost. I guess they're better at grinding it out and can fight twice OPG, but feels bad man. On the plus side, Lord onount and Lord on Karkadrak look really fun. I don't know how competitive it will be, but a Lord on Mount and a Lord on Karkadrak leading a bunch of knights and Varanguard sounds super fun AND would be the best looking army at any tournament. At that point, I didn't care how many games I win.
Mark of Nurgle is just too strong and auto include for the whole army, why Wouldn't you, especially with all that healing. It needs nerfing especially with the general tone down of damage game wide
I find it both comical and sad how nearly every monster in the game is "bad and better be cheap" for hitting on 4+ and wounding on 2+... Guess what, folks, having a 4+ in to hit or to wound is the new normal for most units in the game its time to stop whining and get used to it. I predict it will make for better games that dont end on turn 2.

And now to the bad news: if I understood correctly, then according to today’s free files for AoS4, I’m really fucked with “Legends” rules: there are not and will not be any Greenskins, Phoenixes, etc. In short, if the miniature has _live_ game, then for other systems there will not even be legends of the rules! I.e in fact, models of one system are categorically banned in others. That is, I have tons of vintage fantasy miniatures on round bases and adaped for the Mortal Realms, and GW now tells me to go play the Old World? Let GW go to hell...! Let's see how 40k players sing when the Leman Rus tank is removed from the Imperial Guard army and left only for the Solar Auxillia in in the Horus Heresy!

Mark my words. Most broken army at the launch for sure. Not inspired at all. Lazy writing, nothing unique about StD in my opinion. Just overlapping buffs so that you can never build a bad army. There's literally no weaknesses to the army. Feels bad as a non-StD player to be honest. Which is not to say that's a bad thing, but it's bad compared to how much better it is than every other army.

I'm new to AoS and Warhammer, and I'm already halfway through building a Darkoath army. It's very disheartening to see them get nerfed so hard.
I don't think they are nerfed. They are different. You can have more board presence, recursion and maybe output. You just gotta play for it

they are also deadly as hell
You don't need much more to obliterate almost anything
6 varanguards can solo most armies if they have a screen unit or two, of which STD has the best in the game.

yeah, models are now literally only for one system, so if your mini has ever been for multiple systems (which loads are) then everyone is fucked
Use them as something similar with the same base size..
Just proxy the cool minis you have as something else. Anyone who minds is someone you wouldn't wanna play with anyway
