So helpful, it’s kinda hard to find good information on these cars I have a 2009 altima with 200k ready for it to blow so I can swap a 2012 Maxima motor in
I gotta 2007 Nissan maxima doing a engine removal on it. I’m tryna see how would I get the torque converter bolts out. I took off starter and spin the harmonic balance pulley I don’t see the converter bolts.
Eddie thanks for the video great stuff. You mentioned that the 350z has the VQ35DE in it. Does my 2008 Nissan Maxima have some version of the VQ35 engine in it? If not what type of engine? Thanks again.
Hey nice video!! Quick question.. I have a 2008 Maxima Automatic with a good engine and a 2004 Maxima 6 speed with a bad engine, i wanted to see how difficult would be to swap the 6 speed to the 2008 Maxima, I have the whole cars for both! Thanks in advance!
No sorry it will NOT fit the 2008 Maxima im assuming yours is a 3.5 needs a VQ trans. you cant swap power train/pcm/tcm but not just motor or trans separate the bell housing are diff. anything is possible with mods but its not just as easy as a swap. VQ trans are about $600 i would just buy one and not mess around. these CVT are fickle to begin with.
And I've always been under the impression of ALL 3.5s will cross-fit with the others, but you may have to swap some of the old engine's parts to make it all work like it should in the car (pending on the year model design gap between the two 3.5s). But don't take my word for it bc just like everything else on the internet: you never can trust the legitimacy of it lol. P.s. - I'm currently in the middle of an engine swap for a buddy's '08 Maxima. I haven't scored a replacement 3.5 yet, but if I run across a 3.5 of ANY year tomorrow - I'm gonna snatch it up and give it a shot. I have no doubt in my mind that the difference in year or donor vehicle will be a problem. But if I remember to do so, I will get back on this video and give y'all an update on what's up and how it all went. 🤞👌🤙
Did you have to disconnect the AC lines? or did you manage to tuck the compressor and lines somewhere to remove engine without disconnecting the system?
Good info! Im doing the headgasket on a 2010. Alldata says to remove the engine. Do you think the engine actually needs to be removed(im thinking because of the rear timing cover) or i can do it with the engine still in?
@@SidewayzTre i talked the client into replacing the engine bc when i looked at the mileage it was already around 200k. Def dont want to be responsible for that headache😅
Jonathon Cogar yes sir it will work. Any 3.5 Nissan motor From 2003-2007 are all the same fit. Watch out for the oil cooler lines coming out and going in. If you have any questions you know where to find me. Good luck you got this.
I have 2011 maxima and gonna put a younger engine in it.. do you need to drain the tranny fluid? Im taking it to a shop and dont want them to put cheap cvt fluid in there.. should i buy the ns2 and bring it to them?
Brad Bourque Hi Brad it can be done but it’s not really worth it unless you have money to burn. You need to swap engine, tranny that’s the obvious then add a clutch in firewall change and re program the ecu, add shifter and linkage you’re looking at 5 k I would assume unless you already have access to this stuff. Short answer yes it can be done. Will it feel and work the same as a factory manual nope not ever. If you do it let me know how you make out. Watch the pressure oil cooler lines in the back and sending units they’ll snap right off if not carful. You only get about an inch to play with after mounts are removed. Good luck
If your simply swapping engines, simply check/ change the pilot bearing on the crankshaft of the engine to be installed.since your keeping the auto transmission, this should be your one concern if the forecast of the engines are the same.
Where is part two or the other videos you saud you were going to make? Im needefin to see the alighnment of the torque converter to the engine part the damn two inch nipple on the converter is being a asshole to get into the holr it girs in
I pulled the engine out of my maxima everyone said the murano engine would not work I looked at it and they were the same so I purchased the murano for 400.it runs and drives just fine I'm gonna take the engine out and put it in my maxima so if anyone needs any murano parts I'll be more than happy to part it out
Jonathon Cogar The Altima 3.5 /the Maxima /the quest/ and the murano have the same engine. I’m would think that the only difference between these cars is the computer. Would I be right or wrong?
James P. Jones V you are not wrong, but like I said as well it has to be a 4 letter maching Vin as well. They make two diff versions of this 3.5 it’s a great motor. The flex plate isn’t a great design the 4 bolts that connect the tranny are very small you have to make sure there isn’t any warping
@@jamesofalltrades4359 the 04 maxima has a egr valve hookup on the air intake the muranos do not, the 04 maxima has six bolts in the torque converter to fly wheel the fly wheel has to be changed. The upper and lower oil pans have to be changed aswell.

Thank you my friend. Yes the 3.5 VQ is the 350z engine. They took it from the maxima abs stuffed it into the Z.
How long does it take to remove the motor and put another one back in?

Welding Junkie Why Wouldn’t It Work? He Already Has A VQ Trans. The 04 And 08 Maximas Are Basically The Same. Same VQ Motor Too.

Trev McKendry unbolted thr compressor and left it on the fire wall. Be carful the line that runs to the rack can get pulled out if not carful
@@weldingjunkie gotcha!Thanks for the reply.
From what Nissan model can I replace my QR25DE engine ? Altima, Xtrail and other Japanese right-wheel Nissan models have the same type of engine.
that's a great motor you can use 2005+ Nissan Frontier, 2007+ Sentra, Altima, Rogue, etc im not sure about right hand im in the USA

Marano, maxima, quest all the same. Make sure it’s a Vin match with the 4th letter. Nissan makes two diff 3.5

I think valvoline makes a CVT equivalent..its very cheap and works great..look it up...

Hey man I’m just watching your video and I was wondering if a VQ35DE from a 350z would fit in my 07 maxima
Eddie Acosta depends what year 350z but yes it will the VQ35DE is on many many Nissans it’s one of thier best drives
I’m doing a maxima right now and it’s a 2010 I’m puttting in a 07 with light mods like the oil sending sensor and I had to cut off bottom of AC lip.
So what year do you recommend for a 07 máxima
And I was thinking doing enough just to swap and sell the car
Eddie Acosta if you are selling stick with the same power train it’s cheaper. Go with 05-07 maxima tranny I get them at yard for $650 in RI here
Thank you so much
Emir Carranza you’re welcome my friend

can you change the engine on Nissan altima 2.5l engine too 2.0l engine??
Why would you want to? If your going to fix it, fix it right! Besides 2.0 engines were imported. No parts for 2.0 in the u.s.
Going to attempt this with a 6spd car. Engine is locked up
they should just swap in a newer maxima motor like 09 in up
