I decided a few years ago that I like the idea of having a personal “uniform”, especially because I travel a lot and I don’t see the same people from day to day. That means I find clothes I like and I buy three or four of them. There is huge freedom in not having to think about what I’m going to wear every day and I can focus more on comfort. 😃
Hey Chels this slant towards a higher protein V lifestyle is timely. I’m 61, post menopausal and having sufficient amounts of protein for the AAs to counteract muscle loss in aging is important. That you’re here in NZ using products and produce I can easily lay my hands on gives us older wahine a blueprint that feels actionable. Local content for locals is what I need. Cheers
Chelsea, in the frittata use chickpea flour instead of the cornstarch. Adds better flavor, more protein and is fantastic in frittatas. Chickpea flour is huge in my cuisine and we make veggie omelette with it all the time.
Yes chels! Having less clothing choices just makes life easier. I never have to think about what to wear. Same with food as you always say, cut the decision making!
This is perfect timing for me because I’m working on the same goal to gain muscle. After moving to a high carb low fat diet and getting great weight loss results, I’m having a mental block about adding higher calorie foods back into my diet. But I’ve also been trying to gain more muscle to offset the natural muscle loss with aging. The advice doctors give vs the athletes has always confused me. Please keep posting videos and the types of workouts you’re doing too. Thanks for all you do!
Already so excited! I am also a victim of “gym hair” and am thrilled to see videos about how you eat as you also increase training. Absolutely perfect for where I am right now as well. Thank you!!!
I love wearing the same type of thing too! decision fatigue!!! at night plop your hair in a scrunchi on the top of your head loose and your girls stay better!
I feel like I relate to your videos so much. I am the same way with the clothes, the food, etc. Definitely. You’re not alone with the clothes. The meal prepping exhaustion with a ton of dishes and everything else is so valid.
Feel you with your clothes! Same with me. But my cloth are in general all black 😅 Love your channel! 🧡 you re just so real! Keeping it simple and delicious 👍🏻
Keep in mind also lupini beans in glass jars for protein, I don’t know if you can find them easily in NZ. They are awesome snack and make really good burgers Edited to add: I am kind of a muscle mum. When I switched to WFPB I stopped caring about the protein as much a before.Right the other day I was listening to a chat here on YT between Simon Hill and Fritz Horstmann ((not sure if I remembered the surname correctly) but he is a vegan coach. Very interesting, really. I am now definitely back bringing up my protein again, as I am also much older than you. Also, definitely going back to my origin, to the nice Mediterranean diet. Also listening to your podcast while walking, you have such a positive attitude that is contagious ❤
I'm in Australia and yet to see beans of any kind in glass jars. They are always in tin cans. This is why I try to cook dry beans/chick peas without soaking in the instant pot. I have occasionally seen pulses in jars in expensive delis 100 km away from home, but not always. They tend to be imported from somewhere or another.
Love the breakfast prep! Super helpful as I just starting this journey with tofu and I was wondering how to make a savory breakfast with it. Thank you Chelsea!
Great video Chelsea 👍 love what you have built for your skateboarding , sooo cool 🙌 I am menopausal and this is another area that many experts recommend high protein diet to build and maintain muscle. So I too am focusing on increasing protein by eating tofu, tempeh, edamame and variety of legumes as well as nuts and seeds and as a result I am cutting back on grains! Looking forward to follow you on this journey 🥰
I fully enjoy all your videos. Youve been helping me on my weight loss journey immensely. However, the music in this video is kickin! do you have a recommended playlist like the music on here? the music makes me want to dance
I only have about three outfits. But multiples of those three. People recognize me by my style (since I often wear the exact same outfit for a season) 😂
I have two dresses the same, but one is a size bigger for my weight loss journey. I'm still slightly on the bigger size at the mo but working my way towards the smaller one :)
Weirdo too 😀 Love to have doubles of my favourite clothing! Makes life easier and anyway you tend to wear the favourites all the time even if you would have more choices. Great video as always!
Chelsea, you're amazing!! I'm always stoked when your videos pop up as they are so inspiring. I became vegan 17 years ago and started off eating lots of tofu. To this day I can still have it in moderation. However, I did overdo it with the tofu and ended up in the hospital twice!! It took me a while to figure out what was the matter but I had horible rashes on my legs and stomach aches and ended up getting huge welts on my body. It is a processed food. And in large amounts can affect certain individuals. I met 5 people after the fact who had run into the same thing and all of us, after cutting out the soy, got rid of all the sympoms within one week. This was a time when soy lattes were popular (before almond and oat milk) so to be fair I was also having at least one of these a day. Hopefully your body will process it beautifully but if you do notice any strange symptoms, it may be the tofu. Best wishes on your muscle building journey 🩷
Hey Chelse -- Love your channel! One quick thing because I have come to adore you and your family... I see you use a lot of salt, bouillon seasoning and soy sauce in your cooking. I recently listened to a Dr Fuhrman talk on sodium, and he said that sodium usage over your lifetime is like cigarettes. It adds up and affects you later in life. You don't see any adverse effects when you are young. Just loving on you and your family Take care :)
Totally agree excess sodium is harmful, although most people are getting it from processed meats, processed foods, breads etc. I do add it, but it’s 2 meals a day and not where the majority of salt comes from for most people. I’m aware of it but not overly concerned as my use case isn’t where the issues are coming from in these studies.
Great video! I get so confused sometimes with which vegan diet is right for me. I'm working at losing 60 lbs and have lost 8 lbs so far, but I never know if I should be eating more protein ( I do have one vegan protein shake pet day). It depends on the day, but sometimes when I eat more protein. I stay fuller for longer. Maybe I'm not eating enough of the other foods?
I stalled with my weight loss for 2 years after losing 35 pounds, completely weakening my metabolism, all while I continued on a healthy WFPB diet with low fat, no salt and high starches-carbs. However it seems that low fat has made me ill. I am now more lenient on myself, incorporating more fats like avocados and nuts , more proteins like tofu and legumes and way way less carbs like potatoes, rice and gluten free. I am again losing weight, feeling healthier. I also exercise and have gained my strength and muscle back again. ❤ The low fat trend IMO is dangerous. I am also not salt free anymore (as this too was unhealthy for me). After intensive research, I use Celtic salt and Himalayan salt as they are full of minerals which we lack on a no salt diet. What works for some, doesnt always work for others. We always should be evaluating and researching ….
I take your point however a highly restrictive approach to eating that fails to change course as personal outcomes also change is more likely to result in dangerous outcomes or weakened health. Pleased you found your jam
You look amazing. You do have some great muscle tone. Your recipes and videos are amazing. Your hair is beautiful. What a cutie you are. I love you and your hubby.
Thanks for your awesome content! I've been trying to build muscle and lose weight but it's really hard because I don't have much to lose (I've been plant-based many years so adhering to WFPB isn't a problem). I want to eat higher protein to support muscle building but I also want to lose that stubborn last 5 pounds of fat, so I should be in a calorie deficit...which makes it hard to build muscle. Ugh!
I'm at this point too. I feel like it's hard when you're already close to your goals and it's a matter of fine-tuning but I'm never sure if I should focus on losing weight or building muscle, or if it's possible to do both at the same time.
I get so confused with the whole protein thing. I'm 58 and I have read that older people need more protein because we lose it faster than younger people. what are your thoughts on that!! I workout on a regular basis with weight training and some cardio so I feel I'm on the right track with that, it's just this whole protein thing that gets confusing.
I always thought building muscle was a result of working out and eating enough calories. Is it necessary to increase protein significantly in order to build muscle?
You actually should be in a calorie SURPLUS to build lean muscle just not increasing protein. I shake my head at some of the advice Chelsea gives, she’s not qualified!
Just be aware of over doing it with the protein. Out muscles body can only process roughly 20-25kg protein at once. So having a 30 + G proteins meal your body isn’t actually benefiting. So it would be better to have 20/25 g per meal rather than having extra in one meal then only 10g for dinner. Sorry if this is a bit like sucking eggs 🙈🙈
Why do you want to become a muscle mum? You're already toned and strong. I wonder sometimes if this wish to become very muscly (both in men and women) is a symptom of something else, some psychological issue to do with control, insecurity, masculinity, etc. I like the lean and toned/muscly look (as in classical Greek statues), not the inflated Michelin man look that makes a lot of men look fat and muscle bound rather than strong and imo unattractive
Chelsea, you are so beautiful and so intelligent that I hope you don’t mind my comment. When you get older, you will probably regret all of your tattoos and also they interfere with your credibility… in my opinion.
Wow, like who raised you? Can’t believe you’d come here just to be so rude. Personally, my parents taught me if I didn’t have anything nice to say not to say anything at all but I guess that lesson skipped some.
Also…thanks for always providing awesome evidence based nutritional info. You are my go to for inspiration!

Edamame and 80s music= stellar combo

Less is best.

Muscle building journey so I’m here for the higher protein food orep
I am in the same boat. I have been on a journey to gain muscle for about 1 year now, but so important to be hitting our protein needs.
Already so excited! I am also a victim of “gym hair” and am thrilled to see videos about how you eat as you also increase training. Absolutely perfect for where I am right now as well. Thank you!!!

I’m right there with you! If I like I I get more of it! I don’t care if I wear the same thing every day as long as it’s comfy and I like it haha!

Thanks! Great info
Another fantastic video Chelsea with these high protein vegan meals. Love 🥰 the video and love 💕Chelsea.
If you microwave any hard squash for a minute or so, it's sooo much easier to cut (and safer)
Great tip! I am always scared when I am trying to slice in to squash especially butternut and spaghetti!
Great info. And you are quite funny! I laughed out loud when you sang to your breakfast!! 😂 Thanks for being you!

I wear tie dye t-shirts almost daily but I must say I don't have the waist line you have so mine is covered :) Maybe one day LOL.
I do the same with my favorite clothes lol ❤
You look very young, girlish and sporty with high ponytail! Suits you :)
I’m in weight lose and trying to build muscle, to help combat the lose skin.
The Vegeta stock has MSG?
Looking to build more muscle and becoming leaner and stronger while losing 5-10 pounds.
I'm at this point too. I feel like it's hard when you're already close to your goals and it's a matter of fine-tuning but I'm never sure if I should focus on losing weight or building muscle, or if it's possible to do both at the same time.

I think she mentioned eating a surplus of calories and protein in her latest video. @@Sarah_AS78

Sorry if this is a bit like sucking eggs 🙈🙈
How did that frittata taste?
Can I asked you, how old are you ?
Thanks 😊
The audio cuts out now after you say hello, how weird!
The audio cuts out for me also 😢
Why is there no sound? 😢
Weird, no audio for me
Your a bit of a comedian aren't you? 👍
I hate picking out different clothes every day. It takes up too much ram.
Its not "weird", its neurodivergence 😆😘
Can't hear anything
Why do you want to become a muscle mum? You're already toned and strong. I wonder sometimes if this wish to become very muscly (both in men and women) is a symptom of something else, some psychological issue to do with control, insecurity, masculinity, etc. I like the lean and toned/muscly look (as in classical Greek statues), not the inflated Michelin man look that makes a lot of men look fat and muscle bound rather than strong and imo unattractive
It’s just personal preference. 😀 I enjoy a new challenge.
